    Utilization of Information Technology during the Covid-19 pandemic: Student's Perception of Online Lectures

    The Covid-19 pandemic has a significant impact on higher education in Indonesia, including Muhadi Setiabudi University. Implementing the physical distancing policy then becomes the basis for implementing online lectures by utilizing information technology. This research was conducted to determine students' perceptions of using information technology in online learning at Muhadi Setiabudi University during the Covid-19 pandemic. The sample used in this study were all students of the University of Muhadi Setiabudi second semester and fourth semester of the Primary School Teacher Education Study Program, totalling 145 students. Which then uses Semi-structured Interviews as an instrument in the form of interviews with 20 students. The most widely used media in online lectures at Muhadi Setiabudi University are Google Classroom and WhatsApp group because this application is effortless to use. However, based on the survey results, it turns out that the implementation of online lectures has triggered Indonesian education's digital transformation. Various discourses, endorsing policies, and socialization regarding education in era 4.0 had previously failed. Covid-19, on the other hand, has had a significant effect on the digital transformation of education towards the generation of education 4.0

    Pengembangan sumber daya manusia yang utuh dapat dilakukan secara dinamis dan berkelanjutan melalui perguruan tinggi vokasi yang menekankan kompetensi dan keahlian praktikal yang dapat diterima di dunia kerja. Untuk itu diperlukan tata kelola perguruan tinggi vokasi yang efektif dan efisien sehingga dapat menghasilkan lulusan yang profesional, berkualitas dan memiliki daya saing di tingkat lokal dan global. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah studi kasus dengan analisis kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil analisis kualitatif menunjukkan bahwa serangkain standard yang telah ditetapkan Pemerintah melalui Badan Akreditasi Nasional Perguruan Tinggi perlu dipenuhi dengan menerapkan langkah-langkah manajemen strategi untuk meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan. Perubahan yang dinamis dan fleksibel harus terus menerus dilakukan untuk menjawab tantangan perubahan dunia dengan adanya kemajuan teknologi, revolusi industri 4.0. dan learning 5.0. Pada analisis kuantitatif, indeks kepuasaan siswa menunjukkan kecenderungan positif terhadap tata kelola Perguruan Tinggi yang meningkat. Implikasi dari peningkatan layanan pendidikan dan kompetensi lulusan diharapkan dapat memenuhi kebutuhan stakeholders dan mendukung perekonomian Indonesi

    SHARING SESSION TERKAIT JURNAL NASIONAL TERAKREDITASI UNTUK PENINGKATAN PUBLIKASI ILMIAH DOSEN

    Publikasi karya ilmiah pada jurnal nasional terakreditasi merupakan salah satu syarat wajib bagi kenaikan pangkat dosen terutama bagi mempunyai jabatan akademik Lektor Kepala, menurut Pedoman Operasional Beban Kerja Dosen tahun 2021. Namun faktanya, masih banyak dosen yang terkendala dengan syarat tersebut sehingga mengalami stagnansi dalam jabatan akademik. Dari hasil survei awal yang dilakukan terhadap 200 dosen di Indonesia dari Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan, Kementerian Agama dan Kementerian Perhubungan, diperoleh data bahwa para dosen memerlukan informasi terbaru mengenai jurnal nasional terakreditasi dan mendapatkan penjelasan terkait sistem Open Journal System (OJS) sehingga karya ilmiah mereka dapat dipublikasikan pada jurnal-jurnal nasional terakreditasi di Science and Technology Index (Sinta). Untuk itulah, kegiatan sharing session ini diadakan sehingga dapat membantu meningkatkan publikasi ilmiah dosen untuk perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan peningkatan jabatan akademik. Kegiatan ini dilakukan secara daring dengan tujuan untuk menjangkau peserta dari berbagai lokasi di Indonesia. Metode sharing session dilakukan melalui presentasi oleh narasumber yang dilanjutkan dengan sesi exploratory study melalui tanya jawab dengan seluruh peserta kegiatan. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan ini bermanfaat bagi para dosen untuk memperoleh informasi terbaru mengenai akreditasi jurnal nasional dan OJS, sehingga dapat meningkatkan tingkat diterimanya artikel ilmiah pada jurnal nasional terakreditas

    Desa Klagenserut adalah desa di kecamatan Jiwan, kabupaten Madiun, Jawa Timur, Indonesia. Mata pencaharian utama masyarakat Desa Klagenserut adalah bertani, berdagang dan wirausaha. Selain itu, warga menciptakan lapangan kerja sendiri yang dibutuhkan oleh warga lain. Sebagian warga membuka sebuah usaha dengan membuka sebuah bengkel las rumahan. Mereka mengerjakan beberapa produk dan menghasilkan sebuah produk seperti pembuatan pagar besi, tralis besi, kanopi, tangga besi, perbaikan mesin pertanian dan sebagainya. Bengkel las tersebut mengerjakan produk tersebut dari material besi hollow, besi plat, besi siku dan juga material stainless steel. Material stainless steel ini di masyarakat dikenal sebagai material yang tahan korosi dan mempunyai nilai estetika lebih bagus dibandingkan material logam lainnya. Namun masyarakat Desa Klagenserut khususnya yang membuka usaha dengan membuka bengkel las rumahan, masih belum memahami betul bagaimana cara yang tepat dalam melakukan proses pemotongan, proses penyambungan dan proses pembentukan material stainless steel. Sehingga dibutuhkan sebuah penyuluhan dan pelatihan dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan proses pengelasan pada material stainless steel. Keselamatan dalam proses pemotongan logam dan keselamatan dalam proses pembentukan khususnya pada material stainless steel sangatlah penting, Dengan pelatihan ini semoga warga Desa Klagenserut bisa meningkatkan perekonomian, meningkatkan kesejahteraan, meningkatkan keselamatan dan meningkatkan produk hasil lasan

    Digital vocabulary class in English for railway mechanical technology

    The need to develop online classes in the COVID-19 pandemic era was undeniable. This study aimed to investigate students’ learning achievement and their feedback in digital vocabulary class, which utilized Kahoot! and Socrative as drilling practice tools. It was quasi-experimental research on first-year students of the Railway Mechanical Technology program in Indonesian Railway Polytechnic (N=48). The primary data was gathered from vocabulary pretest and posttest. Then, the test results were analyzed using paired t-test, Pearson r correlation, and Cohen d coefficient. The supporting data were collected by giving a questionnaire to know students’ feedbacks. The results revealed that the digital class effectively improved students’ learning vocabulary achievement in English for railway mechanical technology. The questionnaire results showed positive feedback from the students in learning through digital platforms

    The COVID-19 epidemic has compelled educational institutions worldwide to implement online learning while maintaining the same level of quality as face-to-face instruction. The majority of universities in Indonesia offer TOEFL preparation classes to undergraduate students, and the outbreak has had an effect on how those courses are delivered. However, there is a dearth of research on the most effective instructional strategies for delivering an online TOEFL preparation course to a large number of students who have no prior experience with online learning.     Motivating students to speak in the classroom is a daunting task faced by many language teachers worldwide (Ulla, 2020). However, investigation reporting motivation among EFL class taught by foreign teachers are rarely revealed. Thus, this study investigates English speaking class taught by a foreign English teacher and students motivation during the program. The participants were freshmen in the academic year of 2019/2020 (N=48). It was conducted on the bridging time of the 1st and 2nd semester (January March 2020). This study applied observation class and a survey method to collect the data. The observation class revealed the method and strategy used by a foreign English teacher, while the survey utilized a 5-scale Likert questionnaire. The results showed that the teacher implemented several game-based strategies in class combined with topic based on the context. The survey acknowledged that the students had high motivation in speaking English.     Flipped Classroom in Online Speaking Class at Indonesian University Context

    Since the teaching-learning process must go online, it is assumed that conducting a flipped classroom could promote students’ active learning. Thus, this classroombased research attempts to investigate the implementation of the flipped model in an online speaking class. It examines students’ learning outcomes on speaking skills after studying in flipped classroom model. Participants of this study were 1styear students of the Railway Mechanical Technology study program (N = 24). The numerical data were collected from pre-test and post-test video speaking, marked based on IELTS speaking band descriptor. Those test results were analyzed using paired sample t-test, Pearson r correlation, Cohen d coefficient, and one-way ANOVA. The findings reveal that flipped classroom model offers learning opportunities and engagement since the teacher has delivered the video material before the class. Particularly, this model also promotes active learning for some students. Moreover, the statistical analysis showed significant differences in which the flipped classroom model effectively enhances students’ learning outcomes in speaking skills
