Background: Illegal gold mining in Buru Regency uses the heavy metal mercury toprocess gold material, so it can pollute the environment, including aquatic biota such asmangrove crabs (Scylla serrata) and mangrove snails (Telescopium telescopium). The aimof this research is to analyze the amount of mercury concentration and the level of pollutionin mangrove crabs and snails as a result of illegal gold mining in Buru Regency. Methods: Research samples were taken at the Waelata River Estuary and the AnahoniRiver Estuary. For mercury analysis, 8 mangrove crabs and 16 mangrove snails weretaken. Analysis of mercury concentration using the AAS Cold Vapor method. Results: The results showed that the heavy metal mercury was detected in mangrovecrabs and mangrove snails. The concentration of mercury detected is still below the qualitystandard set based on heavy metal contamination (SNI) No. 7387 of 2009, specifically forthe heavy metal Hg in shellfish (bilvalves), mollusks and sea cucumbers, shrimp and othercrustaceans at 1.0 mg/kg (ppm). Conclusion: Illegal gold mining in Buru Regency has an impact on mercury concentrationsin mangrove crabs and mangrove snails, but the value is still below the specified qualitystandards. However, consumption of mangrove crabs and mangrove snails that live aroundgold mining areas in Buru Regency must be limited, considering the nature of mercuryaccumulation

Phrases in Arabic and Indonesian Language

This research is about differences and similarities of phrase construction in Arabic and Indonesian. The approach in this paper was a descriptive qualitative analysis approach. The findings of this study revealed that some construction of the phrase structure is the same. Subordinative noun phrases are equivalent to idhafah in Arabic, Indonesian adjective phrases are similar to na'at in Arabic, Indonesian coordinative phrases are similar with athaf in Arabic and Indonesian prepositional phrases are similar to syibhul-jumlah in Arabic. However, there are differences between both languages which can be found in Idhafah in Arabic, some vocabulary cannot be called phrases in Arabic, and vice versa. Differences can also be found in the use of athaf letters in the equivalent of coordinative phrases. The differences are also found in the numeral phrases and murakkab adadi. Even taukid and tarkib majazi do not have the equivalent in Indonesian. The differences are not only due to structural aspects, but also by differences in cultural concepts and expressions. This study implies that errors can be predicted in the construction of Indonesian student phrases and the production of translations of Arabic phrases that are different from the construction of Indonesian phrases. The differences were found not only in the structure but also in differences in cultural concepts. This study shows that mistakes can be predicted from the formation of phrases and the translation of Arabic sentences that are different from the structure of Indonesian language

Investigating Service Quality on Repurchase Intention: A Study of Low-Cost Airline Carriers in Malaysia

    Get PDF
The paper attempts to investigate the relationship between service quality towards repurchase intention in passengers of two low-cost carriers offering airlines service in Malaysia. This study covers a quantitative research. All of the respondents are recruited on a voluntary basis. The target respondents of this study are among the passengers who had travelled on low-cost airline carriers in Malaysia. In this research, the lowest respondent are not predicted to be less than 400. The finding of this study expected to contribute to be practitioner as well as marketer the essential of service quality and passenger satisfaction in determining of behaviour intention of passenger of low-cost airline carriers

Clinical Study Prognostic Factors in Tuberculosis Related Mortalities in Hospitalized Patients

Setting. The study was undertaken at the Department of Pulmonology at a public, tertiary care centre in Karachi, Pakistan. Objectives. To evaluate factors concerned with in-hospital deaths in patients admitted with pulmonary tuberculosis (TB). Design. A retrospective case-control audit was performed for 120 patients hospitalised with pulmonary TB. Sixty of those discharged after treatment were compared to sixty who did not survive. Radiological findings, clinical indicators, and laboratory values were compared between the two groups to identify factors related to poor prognosis. Results. Factors concerned with in-hospital mortality listed late presentation of disease ( < 0.01), noncompliance to antituberculosis therapy ( < 0.01), smoking ( < 0.01), longer duration of illness prior to treatment ( < 0.01), and low body weight ( < 0.01). Most deaths occurred during the first week of admission ( < 0.01) indicating late referrals as significant. Immunocompromised status and multi-drug resistance were not implicated in higher mortality. Conclusions. Poor prognosis was associated with noncompliance to therapy resulting in longer duration of illness, late patient referrals to care centres, and development of complications. Early diagnosis, timely referrals, and monitored compliance may help reduce mortality. Adherence to a more radically effective treatment regimen is required to eliminate TB early during disease onset

Volumetric and viscometric behavior of the binary system: (Hexan-1-ol + p -Xylene)

金沢大学理工研究域物質化学系Densities and viscosities for the binary mixtures of hexan-1-ol with p-xylene have been measured at a number of mole fractions at T = (303.15, 313.15, and 323.15) K. The excess molar volumes and viscosity deviations have been calculated from the experimental results and have been fitted to the Redlich-Kister polynomial equation. © 2010 American Chemical Society

金沢大学理工研究域物質化学系Densities and viscosities of binary liquid mixtures of hexan-1-ol + o-xylene, + m-xylene, or + p-xylene were measured at a number of mole fractions at T = (308.15 and 318.15) K and atmospheric pressure. The excess volumes and the viscosity deviations from the mole fraction average were calculated from the experimental density and viscosity data. The experimental data were correlated with Redlich-Kister equation. Variations in the calculated excess and deviation properties for the liquid mixtures were studied in terms of intermolecular interactions. © 2010 American Chemical Society

Rhinitis associated with asthma is distinct from rhinitis alone: TARIA‐MeDALL hypothesis

Asthma, rhinitis, and atopic dermatitis (AD) are interrelated clinical phenotypes that partly overlap in the human interactome. The concept of “one-airway-one-disease,” coined over 20 years ago, is a simplistic approach of the links between upper- and lower-airway allergic diseases. With new data, it is time to reassess the concept. This article reviews (i) the clinical observations that led to Allergic Rhinitis and its Impact on Asthma (ARIA), (ii) new insights into polysensitization and multimorbidity, (iii) advances in mHealth for novel phenotype definitions, (iv) confirmation in canonical epidemiologic studies, (v) genomic findings, (vi) treatment approaches, and (vii) novel concepts on the onset of rhinitis and multimorbidity. One recent concept, bringing together upper- and lower-airway allergic diseases with skin, gut, and neuropsychiatric multimorbidities, is the “Epithelial Barrier Hypothesis.” This review determined that the “one-airway-one-disease” concept does not always hold true and that several phenotypes of disease can be defined. These phenotypes include an extreme “allergic” (asthma) phenotype combining asthma, rhinitis, and conjunctivitis.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
