Intention to use green products among consumers
The study of consumer behavior towards green products has become a very important research nowadays. Every human being requires a good quality of environment and good health status in order to guarantee a useful life for self and family. The needs for green products in the daily lives of individuals are necessary today. So, a deeper study of the intention to use green products may be a reference to
consumers and organizations. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived control behavior with the intention to use. The researcher has distributed a 120 set of questionnaires. Only one set of survey questions unsuccessful return. All 119 of the returned questionnaires
could be used for analysis of the study. Among the methods used in this research are independent sample t-test, one-
way ANOVA, Pearson correlation and multiple regressions. The results showed that all independent variables are significant and seen have influenced intention to use green products among consumers. Among the three independent variables, the attitude is most influenced intention to use green products because it has the highest regression. This means, the higher the positive attitude of consumers towards green products, the higher their intention to use the product. As a result, retailers and marketers should increase consumers‟ desire to use green products by creating an effective marketing strategy. In addition, other parties such as government and non-governmental organizations should also strive to increase positive attitudes of consumers towards green products. The discussion of the implications and suggestions for future research are also described at the end of the study
NANDONG: TRADISI LISAN SIMEULUE
Simeulue, located in the Indian Ocean, has attracted a lot of people’s attention after the tsunami hit the region in 2004. The low number of casualties in Simeulue compared to other affected made the island a spotlight for further research. Some people argue that some forms of oral traditions exist among the people of Simeulue have played a role in saving many lives from the impact of the disaster. Nandong is a popular oral tradition in Simeulue. This oral tradition is important and considered as local wisdom because it contains norms and values inherited by the Simeulue community from generation to generation. This article aims to explore the substance and existence of this local wisdom in the Simeulue community. This study was conducted using qualitative methods. Our research data were collected during fieldwork through interviews, participant-observation and archival reviews. This research found that nandong is a distinctive oral tradition that is different from other oral traditions exist in Simeulue such as buai, nanga-nanga, tokok-tokok and nafi-nafi. This study argues that nandong is the most influential oral tradition among the Simeulue community. Unfortunately, the future existence of nandong in Simeulue is at risk of extinction since not many people, especially the young generation, in Simeulue today eager learn the rich and profound teachings contained in nandong
Simulation of electrical characterization on lateral silicon-on-insulator PIN Diode for space radiation detector
This paper discusses on the performance of SOI pin diode radiation detector when compared to conventional bulk silicon pin diode radiation detector. Lateral SOI detector was virtually fabricated in SILVACO ATHENA and its electrical characteristics was analyzed in SILVACO ATLAS. It was found that SOI pin diode produced lower leakage current value with 1x104 A/μm2 difference compared to bulk structure. However, the same SOI structure suffered from temperature variation with an increment of 1x102 A/μm2 in current density after the temperature was varied from 27°C to 80°C
Initial Investigation on Privacy Preferences: A Preliminary Study on User Priority, Concern, Perception and Expectation
This paper reports on the findings of an initial study on the user’s preference towards their own privacy. The study is important in having user’s opinion especially when dealing with security of their privacy. It is vital to know what the most important priorities are when dealing with privacy as this could lead to the requirements that the user expected when using a website. In addition, this study tried to gather information of user perceptions on privacy and the expectations that they have when dealing with organizations through a survey by using questionnaires. Results showed that Malaysians does have privacy concerns when dealing with organizations. Therefore, this study has achieved the objective s of gathering data on user perceptions and expectations towards privacy
Effects of different loading of magnesium oxide on activated carbon nanofibers for methane adsorption
In the last few years, with the escalating world demand for energy, natural gas had been suggested as an alternative for replacing heavy fossil fuels as it produces cleaner combustion, less harmful and economical. Moreover, continuous world’s depending on fossil fuels such as crude oils, coals and heavy fuels has become a major concerned to the entire world as the excessive burning of these fuels produced harmful gases that leading to global warming. For this reasons, in this work, PAN- based activated carbon nanofibers (ACNFs) with various loading of magnesium oxide (MgO) (0, 5, 10, and 15 wt.%) were prepared for methane (CH4) adsorption. The nanofibers (NFs) were successfully produced via electrospinning process at optimize parameters. The resultant NFs underwent three steps of pyrolysis process which are stabilization, carbonization and activation at 275 oC, 600 oC and 800 oC, respectively. The ACNFs/MgO were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermal gravimetric (TGA) analysis, X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, Brunaeur, Emmett and Teller (BET) method and CH4 adsorption tests. The adsorption equilibrium of CH4 on ACNFs/MgO was measured using a static volumetric technique. Adsorption of CH4 on the ACNFs/MgO was conducted at 30 oC for pressures up to 4 bars. The equilibrium data were stimulated using the Freundlich and Langmuir isotherms, with both models having R2 > 0.98. The results on BET surface area showed the ACNFs loading with 15 wt.% MgO has the highest surface area of 1893.09 m2/g and it was assumed to be a major contributor for higher gas adsorption capacity. From these findings, it is believed that ACNFs/MgO will become a new adsorbent with great potential for gas adsorption and storage in the near future applications
