The effect of two applications of fipronil on arthropod populations were studied under experimental plot conditions using 3-month old Cuphea ignea. Eighty-one families belonging to 12 orders of Arthropoda were trapped before spraying. The four dominant orders were Hymenoptera (28.6%), Homoptera (19.1 %), Collembola (17.8 %) and Diptera (16.2 %). Other orders were present in small numbers i. e. Hemiptera, Coleoptera, Orthoptera, Thysanoptera, Araneida, Acarina, Lepidoptera and Isopoda. The abundance of arthropods was reduced to 44 and 47 families after the first and second sprayings, respectively. The percentage population of Collembola increased significantly after the first and second sprayings as compared to the number before treatment. The percentage population ofHomoptera (Aleyrodidae) increased after the first spray but declined after the second spray. The family Isotomidae (Collembola) increased significantly after the first and second sprays. Some orders such as Isopoda and Lepidoptera disappeared after the plot was treated with fipronil

Some Orthogonal Polynomials Arising from Coherent States

We explore in this paper some orthogonal polynomials which are naturally associated to certain families of coherent states, often referred to as nonlinear coherent states in the quantum optics literature. Some examples turn out to be known orthogonal polynomials but in many cases we encounter a general class of new orthogonal polynomials for which we establish several qualitative results.Comment: 21 page

Since pore network structures of porous materials have irregular shapes and may vary in size, the accurate characterization and virtual 3D reconstruction of these materials are of great importance for a deeper understanding of the structure and subsequent calculations. In this study, the scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray microcomputed tomography (µCT) images of a graphite foam sample are used for image analysis method (IAM) and virtual 3D reconstruction as non-destructive scientific tools with high accuracy. The morphological characterization and determination of effective pore diameter, porosity, specific surface area (SSA), and effective thermal conductivity (ETC) of POCO graphite foam are investigated. By examining the results obtained from the method of image analysis, it is found that there is a good agreement among the IAM results

Islam is a comprehensive religion. Islam is not only discussing about the dimension of ukhrowi (hereafter) but also world. One of that dimension is practicing of entrepreneur. Practicing of entrepreneur is one of the way to get a performance's successful. In Islamic perspective, the success of muslimpreneur performance is associated in word of Al falah. Al falah is a success concept for muslimpreneur in the world and hereafter. There are many factors that affect the success of muslimpreneur performance. Human intelligent as the main factor surrounding of that. According to the phenomenon, this research aims to examine the effect of intellectual, emotional, and spiritual quotient toward the muslimpreneur performance. This research used descriptive analityc method. The population of this research is the Islamic small entreprise in Purwakarta regent with 86 number of samples. Double-linier-regression is used as analysis instrument. Library and field research as the dimension of research through questionnaire. The result of this research indicates first, partially, the muslimpreneur performance is insignificantly affected by intellectual and emotional quotient variable. Only the spiritual quotient that significantly affects toward the muslimpreneur perfomance. Second, simultanously, the muslimpreneur performance is significantly affected by the variable of intellectual, emotional, and spiritual quotient. This research is limited in independend variable. Exploring the most essential independen variable should be done in order to get better result. Zerumbone has been reported for their several biological activities. In our interest to this compound, we have identified and analyzed its content in Zingiber zerumbet, a medicinal plant from Indonesian traditional medicine and investigated its inhibitory activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis, a known infection bacteria of tuberculosis. Analysis of zerumbone was performed with densitometry to leave, rhizome, flower, and stem of Z. zerumbet which was extracted with various solvent system and extraction methods to determine the best method to isolate zerumbone from Z. zerumbet. Result showed that the highest zerumbone was in rhizome while was not observed in other part. Analysis with various solvent and extraction methods showed the highest yield of zerumbone can be extracted by n-hexane (maceration) and reflux extraction method (methanol). Furthermore, inhibitory activity of zerumbone against M. tuberculosis was tested using Lowenstein Jensen medium by counting the number of M. tuberculosis colony growth in medium. Resulted inhibitory activity of zerumbone at all test concentration (0.5, 0.1, 0.05, 0.01, 0.005%) with the growth of 10, 12, 14, 15, and 50 colonies of M. tuberculosis was observed, respectively. This is indicate that zerumbone can be used as an alternative choice for treatment tuberculosis in the future

Electron focusing, mode spectroscopy and mass enhancement in small GaAs/AlGaAs rings

A new electron focusing effect has been discovered in small single and coupled GaAs/AlGaAs rings. The focusing in the single ring is attributed solely to internal orbits. The focusing effect allows the ring to be used as a small mass spectrometer. The focusing causes peaks in the magnetoresistance at low fields, and the peak positions were used to study the dispersion relation of the one-dimensional magnetoelectric subbands. The electron effective mass increases with the applied magnetic field by a factor of 5050, at a magnetic field of 0.5T0.5T. This is the first time this increase has been measured directly. General agreement obtains between the experiment and the subband calculations for straight channels.Comment: 13 pages figures are available by reques

Aim We conducted a systematic review aggregate and network meta‐analysis of psychological interventions for people with type 1 diabetes to assess their effectiveness in improving glycaemic levels. Methods We searched the following databases from 1 January 2003 to 1 July 2018: MEDLINE, CINAHL, PsycINFO, Embase, Cochrane Controlled Trials, Web of Science, clinicaltrials.gov, Dissertation Abstract International. We included randomized controlled trials (RCT) of psychological interventions for children and adults with type 1 diabetes reported in any language. We extracted data on publications, participant characteristics at baseline, intervention and control group, and data for the primary outcome, change in glycaemic control [HbA1c (mmol/mol/%)]. Study authors were contacted for missing data. The review was registered with international prospective register of systematic reviews registration (PROSPERO) CRD42016033619. Results Twenty‐four adult RCTs and 23 of children with type 1 diabetes were included in the systematic review. In aggregate meta‐analysis there was no overall effect of psychological intervention compared with control on HbA1c [adults, nine RCTs, n = 1102, pooled mean difference −0.12, 95% confidence intervals (CI) −0.27 to 0.03, I2 = 29.0%, P = 0.19; children, 20 RCTs, n = 2567, −0.09, 95% CI −0.22 to 0.04, I2=54.0% P=0.002]. Network meta‐analysis suggested that probability and rank‐ordering of effectiveness is highest for attention control groups (b = −0.47, 95% CI −0.80 to −0.12) followed by cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) (−0.26, 95% CI −0.45 to −0.06) compared with usual care for adults. Conclusions Overall psychological interventions for children and adults with type 1 diabetes do not improve glycaemic control. For adults, CBT‐based interventions have the potential to be effective
