The response of Acacia ehrenbergiana Hayne and Acacia tortilis (Forssk) Haynes subspp. raddiana seedlings to 100, 50 and 25% field capacity (FC) watering regimes was studied to determine their morphological and anatomical behaviour. Both species responded morphologically as well as anatomically to water stress. Water stress caused significant (P=0.05) decrease in relative water content, leaf number and area and leaf water potential, chlorophyll content, and stem height and diameter. Seedlings of both species responded to water stress by the development of longer roots. Vessel segment length, radial diameter, tangential diameter, wall thickness and density were significantly (P=0.05) affected by water stress at 25 and 50% FC. It can be concluded that both species can adapt well under dry conditions. Keywords: Anatomical deviations, drought, morphological response, root elongatio

Background: One of the most prevalent reasons for admission to neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) is respiratory distress syndrome (RDs). When myocardial cells are damaged, cardiac troponin I (cTnT) is released as a biomarker of myocardial damage, which is very specific and sensitive. Objective: To determine the level of cTnT in preterm infants who have respiratory distress syndrome as a marker of cardiac dysfunction.Patients and Methods: This study was carried as a case-control trial on forty preterm infants, 20 patients of respiratory distress syndrome at neonatal intensive care unit as a group I, 20 apparently healthy newborns as a control group. Serum cardiac troponin T level sample was taken on the 3rd day of delivery. Results: A statistically significant difference in blood troponin was found between the groups tested, with a negative connection between serum troponin and gestational age, length, and APGAR scores at the first and fifth minutes of life. Respiratory rate and serum troponin were found to have a statistically significant connection. Any one of the echocardiographic measures had a statistically significant positive connection with serum troponin. Serum troponin was able to diagnose respiratory distress syndrome with cutoff ≥ 93.5 ng/mL with the area under the curve, Positive predictive value: 83.33% Positive predictive value: 83.33% Negative predictive value: 100 percent Accuracy: 90%.Conclusion: Cardiac troponin T can be used to detect cardiac dysfunction in ill newborns, especially in centers that do not have in-house echocardiography

The aim of this study is to establish anatomical reference regarding PFO among Sudanese as increasing evidence was found that PFO is culprit in paradoxical emboli events; this led to the reevaluation of this relatively important anomaly. We included 60 apparently normal hearts available in Dissection Rooms in five faculties of medicine in Sudan. The rate of PFO was 7 (11.7%) and the diameter was ranging between 5 mm and 21 mm, with average of 0.87 mm. We conclude that PFO is common among Sudanese and was seen in seven cadavers (11.7%)

Photometric and Spectroscopic Analysis of the SX Phe Star BL Cam

In the present paper, we report the photometric and spectroscopic observations obtained by the 1.88 m telescope at the Kottamia astronomical observatory of the pulsating star BL Cam. Fourier analysis of the light curves reveals that the fundamental mode has two harmonics. The O-C method is used to establish the period changes. So far, the analysis has been very successful in mapping the pulsation amplitude of the star across the instability strip. By using the formalism of Eddington and Plakidis (1929), we found significant results and strong indications of the evolutionary period change. A total of 55 new maximum light timings are reported. New values of (1/P) dP/dt are estimated using the O-C diagram based on all newly obtained times of maximum light combined with those taken from the literature, assuming the periods are decreasing and changing smoothly. To compute the effective temperature and surface gravity of the star, we performed model atmosphere analysis on its spectra. The physical parameters of the star are calculated and compared with the evolutionary models

Breast cancer is one the most curable cancer types if it can be diagnosed early. Research efforts have reported with increasing confirmation that the computation methods have greater accurate diagnosis ability. An enhancement of multi classifiers voting technique based on histogram equalization as a preprocessing stage proposed in this paper. The methodology is based on five phases starting by mammogram images collection, preprocessing (histogram equalization and image cropping based region of interest (ROI)), features extracting, classification and last evaluating the classification results. An experimental conducted on different training-testing partitions of the dataset. The numerical results demonstrate that the proposed scheme achieves an accuracy rate of 81.25% and outperformed the accuracy of voting method without using histogram equalization

Chitosan-Functionalized-Graphene Oxide (GO@CS) Beads as an Effective Adsorbent to Remove Cationic Dye from Wastewater

In this study, the preparation of graphene oxide@chitosan (GO@CS) composite beads was investigated via continuous dropping techniques to remove methylene blue (MB)-dye from an aqueous media. The prepared beads were characterized using various techniques before and after the adsorption of MB. The experimental results showed that the adsorption processes fit the kinetic pseudo-second-order and Langmuir isotherm models. Moreover, the GO@CS beads achieve maximum adsorption capacities of 23.26 mg g1^{−1}, which was comparable with other adsorbents in the literature. An important advantage of our adsorbent is that the GO@CS can remove 82.1% of the real sample color within 135 min

Background: Chronic kidney disease is an international public health problem affecting 5–10% of the world population. As kidney function declines, there is a progressive deterioration in mineral homeostasis, with a disruption of normal serum and tissue concentrations of phosphorus and calcium, and changes in circulating levels of hormones. Objective: To determine the severity of bone and mineral disease in chronic renal failure and how efficiently controlled by drugs and hemodialysis procedure in Ibn sina dialysis center. Patients and Methods: A case control study was carried out among 75 patients with chronic kidney disease (stage5) on regular hemodialysis in Ibn Sina dialysis center. Blood was taken before dialysis session and measurements of serum calcium, phosphorus, serum alkaline phosphatase, .protein and albumin levels, Serum parathyroid hormone and VIT D3   were determined.  and another group of 25 normal peoples from surrounding area. Results: The mean parathyroid hormone level was 145.62pg/ml, with 57.33% having normal acceptable rang of parathormone level, 41% of patients having hyperparathyroidism and 1.33% having hypoparathyroidism. There was no significant correlation between serum PTH and dexa scan. Hypocalcemia was found in 52% of patients, 33% with hypercalcemia patients . There was a significant correlation found between Hypocalcemia and dexa scan results. Majority of patients had high serum phosphate levels (54.6%).and normal phosphate level in 40% while the hypophosphatemia result 5.33% and mean phosphate level is2.24 mmol/l.Total serum protein mean is 61.51 a 37.33% of them had hypoproteinemia and 62.66 %of them had normal serum protein. Also our results show 97, 33%of uremic patients have low vit D While 2.33% have normal level of serum vit D. There was a significant correlation between dexa scan and vit D level, calcium, alkaline phosphatase, female gender, smoking and body mass index. Conclusion: The current study demonstrated that we can predict the chronic kidney diseases- Metabolic bone disorder from mineral scores before potentates the diagnosis by dexa scan

Selection of salt tolerant rice varieties has a huge impact on global food supply chain. Five Malaysian rice (Oryza sativa L.) varieties, MR33, MR52, MR211, MR219 and MR232 were tested in pot experiment under different salinity levels for their response in term of vegetative growth, physiological activities, development of yield components and grain yield. Rice varieties, BRRI dhan29 and IR20 were used as a salt-sensitive control and Pokkali was used as a salt-tolerant control. Three different salinity levels viz. 4, 8, and 12 dS m-1 were used in a randomized complete block design with four replications under glass house conditions. Two Malaysia varieties, MR211 and MR232 performed better in terms of vegetative growth (plant height, leaf area plant-1, number of tillers plant-1, dry matter accumulation plant-1), photosynthetic rate, transpiration rate, yield components, grain yield and injury symptoms. While, MR33, MR52 and MR219 verities were able to withstand salinity stress over salt-sensitive control, BRRI dhan29 and IR20
