    The validity and reliability of an instrument to evaluate the practices of learning organization

    The future of students learning, and excellence of schools absolutely depend on the competence, skills, and expertise of its teachers. This study aimed to report on the validity and reliability of the practices of the learning organization instrument. The dimension of the learning organization questionnaire (DLOQ) instrument was used for the validity and reliability practices of learning organization among teachers. A total of 50 teachers who were selected at random from four indigenous primary schools located in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia were the respondents in this survey study. The results showed: i) The item-content validity index (I-CVI) value achieved was between 0.67 to 1.00; ii) The scale-content validity index (S-CVI) value between 0.95 to 1.00; and iii) The modified kappa statistic between 0.57 to 1.00, proved that the DLOQ instrument adapted in this study had a high content validity. Hence, Cronbach’s Alpha values, Cronbach’s alpha if item deleted, inter-item correlation and corrected item-total correlation also explained that this instrument had high reliability. Therefore, the DLOQ instrument was reliable to measure characteristics of learning organization practices in the context of indigenous primary schools, Malaysia. In line with this, the practices of learning organization among teachers in schools especially primary schools need to be fully applied and implemented to produce more broadly skilled teachers, competent, have a high quality of teaching, able to produce students with high marketability, maintaining the sustainability of schools and educational institutions

    Experimental and simulation Studies of a Two Seater Light Aircraft

    This paper presents the aerodynamic studies carried out on a three-dimensional aircraft model. The test model is a 15% scaled down from a two-seater light aircraft that close to the Malaysian made SME MD3-160 aircraft. The aircraft model is equipped with control surfaces such as flaps, aileron, rudder and elevator and it is designed for pressure measurement testing and direct force measurement using a 6-components balance system. This aircraft model has been tested at two different low speed tunnels, at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia tunnel sized 1.5 x 2.0 meter2 test section, and at Institute Aerodynamic Research, National Research Council of Canada sized 3 x 2 meter2 tunnel. The speed during testing at UTM and IAR/NRC tunnels was up to 70 meter/second, which is corresponds to Reynolds numbers of 1.3 x 106.The longitudinal and lateral directional aerodynamic characteristics of the aircraft such as coefficients of pressure, forces (lift, drag, side) and moments (roll, pitch and yaw) have been experimentally measured either using direct force measurement or pressure measurement method. The data reduction methods include the strut support interference factor using dummy image and the blockage correction have been applied in this project. The results showed that for the undeployed flap configuration, the stalling angle of this aircraft is 160 at CLMax = 1.05 measured by UTM - LST, compared to CLMax =1.09 at stalling angle 150 by IAR- NRC. Beside the experimental study, simulation also be performed by using a commercial Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) code, FLUENT Version 5.3. Experimental works at UTM and IAR – NRC tunnel show that the aerodynamic characteristics of this light aircraft are in a good agreement with each other. Simultaneously, the aerodynamic forces obtained from experimental works and CFD simulations have been compared. The results proved that they are agreeable especially at a low angle of attack

    Principal’s disability in managing co-curricular activities effectively and efficiently can affect student achievement. Nowadays it will also affect students’ application to further study at a higher level since it has become a compulsory requirement for the application to be approved. Co-curricular activities management is also often being handed over to the senior assistant, whereas as a school manager, the principal should be able to do their best in managing it. Hence, this qualitative study is conducted with the aim of exploring principals’ practices in managing co-curricular activities. The instrument is interview protocol. The total number of respondents are 7 principals, 4 senior assistants, and 3 senior teachers, from 7 schools selected for the study. The qualitative data from interviews is manually analyzed to obtain an explanation of the principals’ practices in managing co-curricular activities. Overall, this study found that principals did the best practices in terms of management, however, in certain areas such as limited school compound, inadequate equipment, and physical facilities, and unskilled teachers to train students, principals need to find a better strategy. Therefore, principals are encouraged to practice lifelong learning to ensure that their practices in co-curricular are at their best consistently.La discapacidad del director en la gestión efectiva y eficiente de las actividades co-curriculares puede afectar el rendimiento de los estudiantes. Hoy en día también afectará la solicitud de los estudiantes para seguir estudiando en un nivel superior, ya que se ha convertido en un requisito obligatorio para que la solicitud sea aprobada. La gestión de actividades co-curriculares a menudo también se entrega al asistente principal, mientras que, como gerente de la escuela, el director debe ser capaz de hacer lo mejor en su gestión. Por lo tanto, este estudio cualitativo se realiza con el objetivo de explorar las prácticas de los directores en la gestión de actividades co-curriculares. El instrumento es el protocolo de entrevista. El número total de encuestados son 7 directores, 4 asistentes superiores y 3 maestros principales, de 7 escuelas seleccionadas para el estudio. Los datos cualitativos de las entrevistas se analizan manualmente para obtener una explicación de las prácticas de los directores en la gestión de actividades co-curriculares. En general, este estudio encontró que los directores hicieron las mejores prácticas en términos de gestión, sin embargo, en ciertas áreas, como un complejo escolar limitado, equipos e instalaciones físicas inadecuados y maestros no calificados para capacitar a los estudiantes, los directores deben encontrar una mejor estrategia. Por lo tanto, se alienta a los directores a practicar el aprendizaje a lo largo de toda la vida para asegurarse de que sus prácticas en co-curricular estén en su mejor momento de manera consistente

    Sustainable Urban Bus Service Assessment and Tourists’ Satisfaction

    This paper evaluates sustainable urban bus service quality based on passenger perception and expectation in local tourism destinations in order to attain a comprehension of tourists’ attitudes towards local public transport. The study focuses on the combination of route 101 and 102 by Rapid Penang bus to investigate passenger satisfaction because the bus is the main public transport used by most tourist who use both routes. Data collection by questionnaire survey from 201 valid questionnaires was analysed using sustainable assessment model for both routes. The focus groups of this study are local and foreign tourist as the perceived service quality has a significant positive influence on tourist satisfaction. Moreover, previous experience moderates the relationship between perceived service quality and satisfaction. Results obtained indicate 28 indicators in measuring performance of service quality offered, and 6 vital attributes are identified including; reliability, understanding, accessibility, physical facilities, environment and safety. Gap value obtained are sorted according to worst factor ranking wherein reliability (-1.094), safety (-1.076), physical facility (-1.029), understanding (-1.023), accessibility (-0.792) and environment (-0.772) respectively. This factors have significant effect on overall tourist satisfaction assessment. The findings of this study aims to suggest some interesting implications for practitioners and researchers based on factors that considered important by tourists

    This thesis focuses to the development of machining process using Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines. CNC is needed to machine parts with complex shape and high accuracies. CNC is a method of automation in which various function of machine tools are controlled by letters, numbers and symbols. It consists of precise instructions about manufacturing methodology. This thesis is aimed to study the design process in precision industry. It also covers the study of CNC milling processes. An application of Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) software (l-DEAS) helps to develop the design process and managing the manufacturing process. Furthermore, the G-codes programming could be generated by l-DEAS software. A computational model is presented for this study. A simulation of design process is developed using l-DEAS. The machining process is also developed by analytical process. Procedure of design process is a main guide to create the design process. Then, it will be transformed into the machining process using analytical and CAD/CAM software. By completing the machining process, we have made the comparison between analytical process and CAD/CAM process. In analytical process, the design is applied by manual operation. This is different from CAD/CAM, where the computer software via it Generative Machining application will automatically make the machining process and machine tools. Minor modification and improvement made on the process have saved the process cutting period and enable to control the cutter movement more precisely. Thus, it ensures the accuracy and precision of the product or part. Therefore, it decreases the number rejected of the products

    Seringkali apabila seseorang menyelit peribahasa dalam perbualannya secara tidak langsung turut mengundang rasa yang pelbagai sama ada lucu, tidak percaya atau kagum sehingga menimbulkan rasa aneh dalam kalangan pendengar. Melihatkan senario tersebut, seolah-olah sekarang peribahasa tidak lagi boleh digunakan dalam perbualan. Persoalan itu juga telah mewujudkan perasaan ingin tahu penyelidik tentang kesesuaian, kemampuan dan keistimewaan peribahasa dalam konteks moden bagi mengungkapkan minda masyarakat era milenium. Ini disebabkan daripada pemerhatian, saluran media tidak berhenti-henti menggunakan peribahasa bagi meraih perhatian daripada pembaca atau pendengar. Manakala dari sudut berbeza, peribahasa tidak diendahkan kewujudannya. Oleh sebab skop periklanan terlalu luas, penyelidik memfokuskan iklan-iklan yang telah disiarkan dalam media cetak, iaitu akhbar dan media elektronik, iaitu saluran televisyen bagi memperlihatkan kegunaan peribahasa dalam penyampaian idea, pandangan dan pemikiran baharu masyarakatnya. Daripada penyelidikan ini, penyelidik berharap dapat membuktikan bahawa peribahasa mampu mengungkapan pemikiran Melayu atau masyarakat berbilang bangsa yang tidak ada penghujungnya bukan sahaja dalam penciptaan iklan, malah dalam saluran lain sekiranya masyarakatnya memanfaatkan khazanah tersebut pada tempat yang sepatutnya

    Kesepaduan Nasional Penduduk Kawasan Rukun Tetangga di Malaysia

    Malaysia adalah negara yang dibina berasaskan integrasi. Usaha untuk memupuk dan mengukuhkan hubungan antara etnik ke arah perpaduan yang diidamkan sentiasa ditekankan dalam agenda pembangunan negara bangsa Malaysia. Untuk itu, program Rukun Tetangga telah dilancarkan pada tahun 1975 sebagai satu usaha kerajaan untuk memupuk perpaduan di peringkat akar umbi masyarakat. Setelah lebih empat dekad dibentuk, sejauh mana terbinanya kesepaduan nasional dalam kalangan penduduk Kawasan Rukun Tetangga (KRT) di seluruh negara? Satu kajian kuantitatif yang diadaptasikan daripada model Indeks Perpaduan Nasional (IPNas) 2018 telah dijalankan ke atas 585 orang penduduk KRT di seluruh negara melalui kaedah purposive sampling. Ujian ANOVA sehala digunakan untuk menentukan perbezaan di antara etnik bagi konstruk kesepaduan sosial dan etos bangsa yang berhubungan dalam membentuk kesepaduan nasional. Ujian regresi linear mudah diaplikasikan untuk menentukan hubungan di antara etos bangsa dan kesepaduan sosial. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan terdapat perbezaan antara etnik dalam beberapa dimensi kesepaduan sosial dan etos bangsa. Manakala etos bangsa dan kesepaduan sosial mempunyai hubungan yang signifikan dalam membentuk kesepaduan nasional dalam kalangan penduduk KRT. Dapat dirumuskan bahawa kedua-dua aspek kesepaduan sosial dan etos bangsa perlu digerakkan sederap dalam setiap langkah pihak kerajaan untuk memupuk perpaduan di peringkat akar umbi masyarakat, termasuklah menerusi program KRT yang meraikan kepelbagaian masyarakat multietnik Malaysia

    Numerical studies on unsteady helicopter main-rotor-hub assembly wake

    The objective of this research is to quantify viscous unsteady flow phenomenon observed behind a helicopter main-rotor-hub assembly, as the part is believed to be a major contributor to tail shake phenomenon. In this numerical investigation, the aerodynamic flow field was computed using Large Eddy Simulation equations. To simulate the wake dynamics, Multiple Reference Frames (MRF) method was applied to rotate the main-rotor-hub assembly. Simulations were also run with fairing installed on the main-rotor-hub assembly. The results concluded that fairing does significantly alter the wake's structures and help to reduce aerodynamic drag to about 5% lesser. In addition, analysis from power spectral density (PSD) had successfully quantified the frequencies of this unsteady wake, as well the strength of their amplitudes. It had also manifested a significant growth of wake amplitude to 109% when the rotor rotation was increased from 1400 rpm to 1600 rpm, implying a strong correlation between the flow unsteadiness and the speed of rotor rotation. These findings are alleged to be valuable for future research and development in the rotorcraft industry
