Does Culture Matter in Fraud Prevention Behavior? National Culture Based Study of Indonesian Bankers
The rapid global movement questions on how a person had a worldview and how his behavior was influenced by its culture. International business meant that culture frequently used by social science researchers in the national cultural dimensions and that related to the economic growth of the financial aspect. Fraud prevention predicted to have a relation on a national culture that was on how the organization created ethical behavior through good corporate governance. This survey explored some important concepts regarding the national culture dimensions that tend to strengthen the fraud prevention actions on Indonesian State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Bank in East Java as well as to develop an anti-fraud strategy that can be used as one of the efforts in fraud prevention. The findings suggest that national culture played an important role in creating fraud prevention behavior with long-term orientation as the key aspects to be considering in creating a successful organization strategy to combat fraud. Employee participation in decision making: Evidence from state owned enterprise in Indonesia
Over the last decade an era of political reforms has been sweeping through Indonesian society. This has not just involved change at the level of how government is conducted but has seen a change in the whole social and political atmosphere. One of the most significant changes is related to democratization of organizational behavior. Many organizations are now trying to transform from the old custom of authoritarian organizational style to a way of working, which is more democratic and participative. They are allowing their employees to contribute opinions and some are beginning to involve employees more in the process of making organizational decisions. This article looks at two state-owned enterprises in Indonesia, to see what impact these trends actually have in the real life of both the organization and the employees. The Paternalistic Relationship: Authenticity and credibility as a source of healthy relationships
This article explores the how the Paternalistic Leadership model can be viewed as part of a relationship-based paradigm of leadership, and can incorporate concepts such as credibility and authenticity. The review highlights the need to understand paternalistic leadership as an approach to establishing productive relationships within a cultural context, with implications for researchers and practitioners in both collectivist and individualistic cultures
Paternalistic Leadership and Employee Responses in Javanese Culture
Abstract: While much has been written about leadership research, little effort has been made to identify what constitutes effective leadership in an Indonesian cultural context. Paternalistic leadership is an emerging body of research that has been adapted to the Indonesian context. Javanese cultural values provide a foundation for an Indonesian form of Paternalistic Leadership (PLI). In this study, 178 civil servants in the province of Yogyakarta Special Region, where surveyed in order to examine their responses to the dimensions of PLI. Results suggested that effective PLI emphasises a leaders visibility, benevolence and courage. Authority and impartiality need to be expressed in ways that align with traditional Javanese values. Suggestions of the direction for further study are presented.
Abstrak: Fakta bahwa penelitian kepemimpinan sudah banyak dikaji, akan tetapi sangat sedikit riset dilakukan dalam konteks kepemimpinan efektif yang berakar pada budaya Indonesia. Kepemimpinan paternalistik merupakan wacana riset yang sedang berkembang saat ini dan diadopsi untuk konteks budaya Indonesia. Nilai budaya Jawa memberikan fondasi yang kuat untuk model kepemimpinan paternalisik (PLI). Dalam studi ini, 178 PNS di lingkungan Pemerintah Provinsi DIY di survey untuk menilai respon mereka terhadap model PLI. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa PLI yang efektif menekankan pada pentingnya pemimpin untuk selalu tampak, berbuat kebajikan serta mempunyai keberanian diri. Kepemimpinan otoriter dan adil perlu juga ditunjukkan agar selaras dengan nilai-nilai budaya Jawa. Saran-saran serta direksi untuk studi di masa yang akan datang juga dipaparkan dalam artikel ini
ENTREPRENEURIAL ORIENTATION AND ITS EFFECT TOWARD SME PERFORMANCE THROUGH STRATEGIC FLEXIBILITY ON FASHION INDUSTRY IN MALANG
The relationship between strategy and performance is central to the study of strategic management. The main objective of this study is to examine the form of entrepreneurial orientation toward strategic flexibility and SMEs performance. By taking a more specific sample, this study uses SMEs in fashion in Malang as the object of research. Data was collected through questionnaires, with 31 owners of SMEs fashion in Malang being taken as respondents. The findings of the study revealed that only proactiveness had a significant direct effect on SMEs performance, while innovativeness, risk-taking, and proactiveness significantly influenced strategic flexibility. Proactiveness was found to have the greatest influence on strategic flexibility. This study shows the important role of strategic flexibility in strengthening the effect of entrepreneurial orientation on SMEs performance. Research implications and suggestions are discussed at the end of this article
Analisis Pengaruh Service innovation capability, Firm’s value offering, Transformational Leadership, dan Service Marketing capability terhadap Customer Perceived Value (Studi Kasus di PT Asuransi Jasindo)
Customer perceived value merupakan faktor penting bagi perusahaan dalam
rangka meningkatkan keuntungan dan menjaga keberlangsungan perusahaan.
Proses terbentuknya customer perceived value dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor
lain, sehingga tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh service
innovation capability, firm’s value offering, transformational leadership, dan
service marketing capability terhadap customer perceived value secara
langsung, dan tidak langsung melalui variabel intervening service marketing
capability.Metode penelitian yang dikembangkan pada penelitian ini adalah
menggunakan data primer yang dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner penelitian
terhadap sejumlah sampel sebanyak 145 karyawan perusahaan pembiayaan
yang bekerja sama dengan PT Asuransi Jasindo. Structural Equation Model
dengan Partial Least Squares merupakan metode yang digunakan untuk
melakukan pengujian hipotesis berdasarkan data empiris yang dikembangkan
pada penelitan ini. Hasil penelitian menjelaskan bahwa terdapat pengaruh positif
dari service marketing capability, Firm’s value offering, dan transformational
leadership secara langsung terhadap customer perceived value. Selain itu juga
terdapat pengaruh positif secara signifikan secara tidak langsung dari Firm’s
value offering, dan transformational leadership terhadap customer perceived
value melalui service marketing capability. Sedangkan service innovation
capability tidak mempunyai pengaruh terhadap customer perceived value service
secara langsung ataupun secara tidak langsung melalui service marketing
capability
Pengaruh Lingkungan Kerja dan Budaya Organsiasi terhadap Kinerja Karyawan (Studi pada Karyawan Bidang Operasional PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Provinsi Jawa Timur Tbk Cabang Sidoarjo)
Setiap perusahaan selalu melakukan perubahan secara bertahap dan
kontinu seiring dengan perkembangan zaman yang terjadi. Tujuan adanya
perubahan tersebut guna meningkatkan kinerja baik kinerja karyawan maupun
kinerja perusahaan sehingga perusahaan mampu bersaing dengan perusahaan
lainnya. Konsep perubahan dipengaruhi oleh dua faktor yaitu faktor internal,
kemampuan perusahaan dalam mengelola sumber daya yang dimiliki secara
efektif dan efisien, sedangkan faktor eksternal, kemampuan perusahaan dalam
beradaptasi dengan perkembangan zaman yang terjadi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini
adalah untuk mmenguji dan menganalisa pengaruh lingkungan kerja dan budaya
organisasi terhadap kinerja karyawan Bidang Operasional PT Bank
Pembangunan Daerah Provinsi Jawa Timur Tbk Cabang Sidoarjo dengan
dimediasi motivasi kerja.
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif. Data pada penelitian ini
diperoleh melalui penyebaran kuesioner kepada 134 responden. Data tersebut
kemudian dianalisis menggunakan metode Partial Least Square. Hasil penelitian
ini menemukan bahwa lingkungan kerja berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja
karaywan, budaya organisasi berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan,
lingkungan kerja berpengaruh signifikan terhadap motivasi kerja, budaya
organisasi berpengaruh signifikan terhadap motivasi kerja, dan motivasi kerja
berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan. motivasi juga berperan
sebagai mediasi parsial dari pengaruh lingkungan kerja terhadap kinerja
karyawan dan pengaruh budaya organisasi terhadap kinerja karyawan
