Long-Run Relationship of U.S. and Argentine Maize Prices

This paper examines the relationship between the maize export prices of the United States and Argentina. The results suggest an asymmetric nature of price adjustment. This could be due to the fact that the maize market is characterized by significant concentration. The larger market share of exports by the United States reflects the influences on export price dynamics. The International Market of Wheat and the Food Security

The article reveals the situation at the international market of wheat in retrospective period with a stress on the previous three years. It examines the connections between the initial indicators such as production, consumption, export, import, stocks, etc. Derivative indicators are studied in order to find export orientation and import dependency at the wheat market. The ratio between the supply and the demand is calculated and the functioning of the market mechanism is explained. The balance method is applied which is very adequate for empirical proof of the interaction between supply, demand, and prices. The fluctuations of international prices of wheat are explained on the basis of the results from the calculations. The prices can be considered as one of the best indicator for studying and forecasting of the market situation. A short-term forecast for the future development of the market and market prices is prepared. The most vulnerable up-to-date issues of the food security are discussed and recommendations are made, because the agricultural products are very important for the life of human beings and are of great concern of the policy makers. The methodology, the research methods, and the results will enrich the existing knowledge in this sphere

Az IGC februári kitekintésében 680 millió tonnára teszi a világ 2012/2013. gazdasági évi búzatermését. A kedvezı gabonaárak hatására globálisan 224 millió hektáron termelhetik majd a kalászost a gazdák. Az északi-féltekén lassan elkezdıdik a kukorica vetése, ezért a befektetık figyelme is a térségbıl érkezık hírekre terelıdik. Az IGC várakozásai szerint a kukorica globális termıterülete 167 millió hektárra növekedhet a 2012/2013. gazdasági évben. Az Oil World februári jelentése alapján a hét fı olajosmag globális termése a 2011/2012. gazdasági évben jóval elmarad a két hónappal korábban várt eredménytıl. A szójabab globális termése 246,5 millió tonna lehet a folyó szezonban, amely 7 millió tonnával marad el a januárban várttól. Hosszú idı után elıször fordulhat elı, hogy az Egyesült Államok és a dél-amerikai országok szójababtermése egyszerre csökken nagymértékben. A napraforgómag sikere folytatódhat a 2012/2013. gazdasági évben is, mert a kifagyott ıszi vetésőek helyére tavasszal jó eséllyel kerülhet napraforgó. A cukor globális termelése meghaladhatja a fogyasztást a 2011/2012. gazdasági évben (október-szeptember). A londoni és a New York-i árutızsdéken a cukor határidıs stagnált vagy kismértékben emelkedett 2012 februárjában az elızı hónaphoz képest
