On the Foundation of Decision Making under Partial Information

The author shows how to model imprecision in the decision maker's judgements, within a Bayesian context. He provides axioms leading to work with families of value functions, if the problem is under certainty, or probability distributions and utility functions, if the problem is under uncertainty, or probability distributions and utility functions, if the problem is under uncertainty. Some solution concepts are suggested. On the whole, he provides a robust decision theory based on a set of axioms embodying coherence, and essentially implies carrying out a family of coherent decision analyses

A Graphical Adversarial Risk Analysis Model for Oil and Gas Drilling Cybersecurity

Oil and gas drilling is based, increasingly, on operational technology, whose cybersecurity is complicated by several challenges. We propose a graphical model for cybersecurity risk assessment based on Adversarial Risk Analysis to face those challenges. We also provide an example of the model in the context of an offshore drilling rig. The proposed model provides a more formal and comprehensive analysis of risks, still using the standard business language based on decisions, risks, and value.Comment: In Proceedings GraMSec 2014, arXiv:1404.163

Retirement involves a series of changes in the life of the person that can affect your quality of life satisfaction in it. Increase guidance and knowledge of jubilables people through courses in preparation for retirement allows a number of benefits able to improve the quality of life of people who are close to retirement. Hypothesis: A failure courses preparation for retirement is due to poor and poor supply of these seminars, merely that conducted a few workers Objectives: To determine the demand that exists for programs in preparation for retirement living in different contexts. Material and Methods: A literature search in Medline, Web of Science and Pubmed for studies published between 1997 and 2014 was performed using keywords related to preparing for retirement. Results and Discussion: Participants located in different locations and contexts perceive a future good retirement and those already retired satisfactorily valued their new lifestyle as retirees. Participants from different studies believe useful and necessary preparation courses to retirement. Conclusions: The performance of courses preparation for retirement benefits involves multiple participants but few have done so even though considered an orientation and a greater knowledge of what it takes retirement useful and necessary. Restructuring is necessary individualization of these courses to meet the new expectations and concerns that require today's society.Traballo fin de mestrado (UDC.FCS). Xerontoloxía. Curso 2014/2015

Macroecological and macroevolutionary factors related to vertebrate diversity

Investigating the distribution of biodiversity in the planet and the involved processes and mechanisms might be important in order to plan successful strategies for its conservation. Probably, the most studied biodiversity pattern is the latitudinal species richness gradient, and current climatic conditions are a widely accepted explanation for this pattern. However, it is possible that the correlation between biodiversity and climate is not causal, due to the spatial structure of climatic variables, and other factors (like past climatic conditions and recolonisation of glaciated areas) could explain these patterns. Following the ecological niche theory, the niche could affect the geographic distributions of species, but neutral models consider that their distribution is the result of stochastic and limited migrations. The main objective of this dissertation is to analyse how these factors and processes are involved in shaping the biodiversity and distribution of terrestrial mammals at continental and global scales

    Architectural rendering and 3D visualization

The following thesis, “Architectural Render and 3D Visualization,” describes the process of creating, rendering, and optimizing an Interior Design using a 3D Engine as the principal tool. The tool used during the development is “Unreal Engine,” which allows rendering and interaction in real-time with the scene. At the end of the process, we can obtain an interactive scene rendered with highquality materials trying to reach a realistic real-time scene by mixing modeling, texturing, and illumination techniques. Furthermore, scripting is contemplated in the project scope, looking to optimize the environment where we will be developing the scene, and developing some tools
