With the increasing technological innovation, the concept of marketing and its applications become more functional and wide. Today is visible the development of mobile marketing campaigns, ie marketing campaigns for mobile devices (mobile phones, smartphones, PDAs, tablets). Taking advantage of mobile devices services (bluetooth networks, Wi-Fi, WAP, SMS service, MMS) as a vehicle to approach and communicate with consumers, bluetooth technology is a potential way of mobile marketing to become increasingly less invasive to consumers. This study seeks to answer the question "what factors may motivate the Portuguese consumer to adopt the bluetooth marketing?". According to the literature review on the concept of mobile marketing, bluetooth marketing and consumer behaviour theories, we propose a conceptual model capable of investigating the relationships between the determinants of responsiveness to bluetooth marketing. The empirical study developed from a set of hypotheses and implementation of an online questionnaire to a sample of 755 respondents, demonstrated that there is a relationship between factors such as, technology ease of use, file exchanging and influence of peers, and the receptivity to bluetooth marketing. Also information value of mobile advertising messages, such as entertainment and personalization relates to responsiveness. The consumer’s perceived control over mobile promotional messages and the safety features of the technology, also showed a positive relationship with the receptivity to bluetooth marketing

Lisbon is a city with high seismic risk, having been hit in the past by strong earthquakes. That is the reason why several seismic vulnerability studies have been made devoted to the buildings of the capital, aiming the creation of different scenarios that depend on the magnitude and source location of the earthquake as well as on the buildings vulnerability. The results of these studies have been presented as maps resulting from crossing information contained in 2D layers and presented in a GIS environment. 3D City Models (3DCM) intend to associate a database of a city to a rigorous geospatial representation and close to the visible reality in an urban environment, combining geometry and semantics. As such, they may include tools that convey attribute analysis at different levels, allowing the generation of new knowledge on a phenomenon or its effects, not only at the statistical level but also in terms of visual impact on the object. In this project it is intended to extend into the third dimension a seismic vulnerability study of the buildings of Lisbon held in 2D, increasing the resolution of the study, from the statistical subsection (approximately one block) to the individual building, adding conditions such as landfills thickness, the preservation state of the building, the number of floors and the relative position of the building in its neighbourhood. Simultaneously it is intended to explore the added values of spatial analysis in 3D representations and making them available on the web for the interested public. The various parameters that contribute to assess seismic vulnerability of buildings may be analysed individually or simultaneously. The application of this study will be demonstrated in the whole area of Lisbon Municipality and more detailed in three pilot areas, such as Alvalade, São Vicente, more specifically Graça area, and Ajuda

The present work, a closing and completion of our training and apprenticeship in Visual Arts teaching, whose theme is the relationship between Aesthetics Culture and Visual Arts Teaching. So we believe that thinking about the relationship between Aesthetics and Visual Arts, based on our teaching practice, will be useful to achieve the general and specific aims of Drawing as a school subject. Since we worry about improving the aesthetical discernment, this will call the attention to preserve the patrimony as well as to develop creativity and innovation which are important, urgent and indispensable skills. To this purpose we analyzed the aspects that in post modern times more directly affect the relationship between Aesthetics and the Visual Arts, using as a comparative term common modern notions of the subject. About the modern notion of Aesthetic and of Visual Arts we asserted that there is an orientation to study the conditions that make any object beautiful and we observed the abilities of the subject to learn and recognize the beauty. In what concerns the postmodern art notion we said that it is surrounded by an atmosphere where the subjective relativism and narcissistic attitude prevail. This attitude is directly related to the hyper capitalism of waste engaging in its orbit all the cultural production that became a commodity like any other, disqualifying the artistic production. Trying to raise awareness among the students of this situation it was our objective, to lay the bases in order to pursuit aesthetic references, believing that, they will improve their relationship with visual arts. The third chapter of our report, devoted to pedagogical practices aims to show that this clarification reflected on the demands of aesthetic culture and appreciation for art, has positive incidences in student’s performance

Enhancing the motorcycling experience with social applications: A study of user needs

a preprint versionFor many riders, the motorcycle is much more than a transportation mode. Riding a motorcycle can be a pleasurable experience in itself, and the mo-torcycle is frequently a tool of socialization. An evidence for that can be found in the numerous motorcycling communities around the world. However, those communities may not be accessible to everyone, or they may not satisfy every-one. We believe that a social application for motorcyclists could reach more rid-ers and has the potential of more easily fitting their needs. To explore this idea, we conducted focus groups with motorcyclists, exploring their current practices in digital tools as well as their needs and desires that could possibly be integrated in a social application. The results hinted on several aspects that need to be con-sidered in the design of a social application for motorcyclists. Generally, motor-cyclists are willing to receive and share information with others, and referred several needs in terms of communication and trip planning. However, they also showed concerns regarding a digital tool associated with riding, both for safety reasons and because it could disrupt the riding experience. We conclude that not only the needs but also the concerns must be considered in the design of this new digital tool. This work is supported by: European Structural and Investment Funds in the FEDER component, through the Operational Competitiveness and Internationalization Programme (COMPETE 2020) [Project nº 039334; Funding Reference: POCI-01-0247-FEDER-039334]

All rights reserved. Engineers must have a set of professional competences, which includes sound technical knowledge and the ability to solve engineering problems, integrated with a set of transversal competences, which must mobilized for managing projects, working in teams and communicate with the others effectively. The development of these sets of competences can be supported by projects in interaction with companies. This article reports the work developed by a group of students on the Integrated Project of the 4 th year of Industrial Engineering and Management of the University of Minho. The main objective of this work is to describe the type of project that a group of students can develop in interaction with an industrial company, and reflect about the main results that this project have for the development of their competences and for the company. This is a descriptive paper based upon on reports and the experience of the students. The target of the project was the diagnosis and analysis of a production system in an industrial environment. The company chosen to develop this project is a multinational and pioneer company on the manufacturing of hand tools. The content of this article will mainly cover the internal supplier of materials (Mizusumashi), namely the standardization of the Mizusumashi route and the improvement of the components` warehouse (materials organization and visual management). The suggested modifications can result in a 30% decrease of the time wasted in the warehouse, a 20% decrease of the time it takes the Mizusumashi to complete a full route, reaching the 45 minutes the company requested. The students were able to fulfil the project milestones and integrate the company culture in their weekly visits, during the 15 weeks of the project. Furthermore, the company showed to be very satisfied with their behaviour and performance.(undefined)info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
