From Fully-Supervised, Single-Task to Scarcely-Supervised, Multi-Task Deep Learning for Medical Image Analysis
Image analysis based on machine learning has gained prominence with the advent of deep learning, particularly in medical imaging. To be effective in addressing challenging image analysis tasks, however, conventional deep neural networks require large corpora of annotated training data, which are unfortunately scarce in the medical domain, thus often rendering fully-supervised learning strategies ineffective. This thesis devises for use in a variety of medical image analysis applications a series of novel deep learning methods, ranging from fully-supervised, single-task learning to scarcely-supervised, multi-task learning that makes efficient use of annotated training data. Specifically, its main contributions include (1) fully-supervised, single-task learning for the segmentation of pulmonary lobes from chest CT scans and the analysis of scoliosis from spine X-ray images; (2) supervised, single-task, domain-generalized pulmonary segmentation in chest X-ray images and retinal vasculature segmentation in fundoscopic images; (3) largely-unsupervised, multiple-task learning via deep generative modeling for the joint synthesis and classification of medical image data; and (4) partly-supervised, multiple-task learning for the combined segmentation and classification of chest and spine X-ray images
Strengthening the Competitiveness of Indonesia's Loser Sector Products in RCEP Cooperation
The purpose of this study is to map some of Indonesia's loser sector products which are commodities that need to be strengthened in the RCEP cooperation forum. In this study, the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) formula is used to analyze the competitiveness of Indonesian export products. The average RCA results between, 2015-2019 show that out of the five food and beverage product items, most of them have high competitiveness. Meanwhile, the average RCA of livestock products, light industry and heavy industrial products has low competitiveness. A strengthening strategy to increase product competitiveness in the RCEP market requires several steps. These steps include identifying market access in RCEP partner countries, improving product quality and specialization, coordinating between the Government and the private sector and continuing to encourage bureaucratic reform, harmonization of regulations to obtain Smart Regulations
Mechanical Behavior of Concrete Reinforced with Waste Aluminium Strips
The main objective of this research work is to investigate the influence of the addition of waste materials, like aluminium waste material, Soft Drink Tin Fibers (SDTF) or soft tins to improve mechanical properties of concrete and also study the strength behavior of concrete, such as flexural strength and indirect or split tensile strength. It has been acknowledged that the use of fibers in concrete has considerable effects to improve strength parameters and characteristics of concrete. In this research work, similar efforts are made to present the effects of soft tin fibers or aluminium waste material as a reinforcing material in concrete and to assess the mechanical behavior of concrete. Particularly, this research work aimed to investigate experimentally the effect of soft drink tins on tensile (cylinder splitting tensile strength) and flexural strength. Soft tin fibers of 25.4 5 0.5 mm in size were used and added from 1 to 5% by the weight of cement with the design mix of 1:1.624:2.760 at 0.50 w/c ratio. Therefore, 6 batches (every batch contained 3 prisms and 3 cylinders) were prepared and cast for evaluation of tensile and flexural strength. One batch was cast without inclusion of fibers (controlled batch) and remaining 5 batches were cast with the addition of fibers using 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5% respectively. It was revealed from obtained results that split tensile strength and flexural strength of specimen increases as compared to controlled batch up to 4% addition of fibers. Moreover, beyond 4% soft drink tin fiber level, strength begins to fall down. Thus, it can be suggested that mechanical properties of concrete can be enhanced by 4% of soft drink tin fibers. Moreover, in this study, soft drink tin fibers (SDTF) or aluminium waste are used as the application of utilization of waste materials as a partial construction material and also on another side it controls the solid waste and environmental pollution. Antiparasitic Activity of Chemically Synthesized Magnesium Oxide Nanoparticles against Small Ruminant Haemonchosis
Background: Haemonchosis, a debilitating parasitic disease of small ruminants, is a major threat to food security globally. The development of alternative antiparasitic interventions is an important measure toward reducing the progress of veterinary drugs resistance in food animals. Hence, reducing the risks related to chemical foodborne hazards exposure. This study was designed to investigate the anti-parasitic activity of magnesium oxide nanoparticles (MgO-NPs) against different stages of Haemonchus contortus. Methods: Preparation of magnesium oxide nanoparticles was conducted by sol-gel method at room temperature. For anti-parasitic activity of nanoparticles and commercially available anthelmintics, the adult worms and eggs (collected from gravid female worms) were subjected to adult motility assay and egg hatch assay, respectively. The relative efficacy of both nanoparticles and anthelmintics was classified by identifying the lethal dose LC50.Results: Wormicidal effects of MgO-NPs were found to depend on both the concentration and the amount of time, they were exposed to. The lower concentrations of the nanoparticle (1 to 5 µg/mL) have not shown any mortality during the first four hours of the incubation. However, the higher concentrations of the nanoparticle (10, 15, 20, and 25 µg/mL) harmed the parasite during this time. The highest dose (25 µg/mL) was capable of killing almost all the worms during the first 16 hours. The highest concentration of nanoparticle induced 90±2.89% egg hatch inhibition and 91±3.3% adulticidal activity for egg hatch assay and adult motility assay, respectively. Conclusion: Magnesium oxide nanoparticles have shown potent anti-parasitic properties. The study may provide potential alternative anthelmintic to control gastrointestinal parasites particularly haemonchosis in the scenario of emerging anthelmintic resistance

Analysis of CeO2/SiO2 double-layer thin film stack with antireflection effect for silicon solar cells
This study introduces CeO2/SiO2 double-layer film stacks and its antireflection coating effect. Optical properties were analyzed by spectrophotometer measurements; surface morphology and cross-sections were observed by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM); elemental distributions and crystallographic properties were determined by Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) and X-ray Diffraction (XRD) measurements. Average reflectance of single-layer 0.3MSiO2, 0.6MSiO2, and 0.3MCeO2 thin films were 30.54%, 20.12%, and 14.23%, respectively. Average reflectance was decreased significantly down to 5.9% by 0.3MCeO2/0.6MSiO2 double-layer thin films comparing to those of the results of single-layer films and bare silicon surface reflection (~40%). Antireflective effect of the films on solar cells was estimated by simulation using the measured reflection data. Simulated solar cells indicate that 0.3MCeO2/0.6MSiO2 double-layer antireflective coatings are capable to increase the efficiency significantly and conversion efficiency of 21.7% could be achieved
