Cosmic Microwave and Infrared Backgrounds cross-correlation for ISW detection

We investigate the cross-correlation between the cosmic infrared and microwave backgrounds (CIB & CMB) anisotropies through the integrated Sachs-Wolfe effect. We first describe the CIB anisotropies using a linearly biased power spectrum, then derive the theoretical angular power spectrum of the CMB-CIB cross-correlation for different instruments and frequencies. We discuss the detectability of the ISW signal by performing a signal-to-noise (SNR) analysis with our predicted spectra. The significances obtained range from 6{\sigma} to 7{\sigma} in an ideal case, depending on the frequency ; in realistic cases which account for the presence of noise including astrophysical contaminants, the results span the range 2-5{\sigma}, depending strongly on the major contribution to the noise term.Comment: 4 pages, 1 table. Optical Emission Lines and the X-Ray Properties of Type 1 Seyfert Galaxies

In this contribution we report on the study of the optical emission lines and X-ray spectra of a sample of Type 1 AGNs, collected at the Sloan Digital Sky Survey database and observed by the XMM Newton satellite. Exploiting the different instruments carried onboard XMM, we identify the spectral components of the soft and hard energy bands (in the range from 0.3 keV up to 10 keV). The properties of the X-ray continuum and of the Fe Kalpha line feature are investigated in relation to the optical broad emission line profiles and intensity ratios. The resulting picture of emission, absorption and reflection processes is interpreted by means of a BLR structural model that was developed on the basis of independent optical and radio observations.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures, Proceedings of the VIII Serbian Conference on Spectral Line Shapes in Astrophysics, accepted for publication on Baltic Astronomy. RXJ 0921+4529: a binary quasar or gravitational lens?

We report the new spectroscopic observations of the gravitational lens RXJ 021+4529 with the multi-mode focal reducer SCORPIO of the SAO RAS 6-m telescope. The new spectral observations were compared with the previously observed spectra of components A and B of RXJ 0921+4529, i.e. the same components observed in different epochs. We found a significant difference in the spectrum between the components that cannot be explained with microlensing and/or spectral variation. We conclude that RXJ 0921+4529 is a binary quasar system, where redshifts of quasars A and B are 1.6535 +/- 0.0005 and 1.6625 +/- 0.0015, respectively.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures, accepted for publication in The Astrophysical Journal Letter

Are Boltzmann Plots of Hydrogen Balmer lines a tool for identifying a subclass of S1 AGN?

It is becoming clear that we can define two different types of nearby AGN belonging to the Seyfert 1 class (S1), on the basis of the match of the intensities of their Broad Balmer Lines (BBL) with the Boltzmann Plots (BP). These two types of S1 galaxies, that we call BP-S1 and NoBP-S1, are characterized, in first approximation, by Broad Line Regions (BLR) with different structural and physical properties. In this communication, we show that these features can be well pointed out by a multi-wavelength analysis of the continuum and of the broad recombination Hydrogen lines, that we carry out on a sample of objects detected at optical and X-ray frequencies. The investigation is addressed to verify whether BP-S1 are the ideal candidates for the study of the kinematical and structural properties of the BLR, in order to derive reliable estimates of the mass of their central engine and to constrain the properties of their nuclear continuum spectrum.Comment: 26 pages, 4 figures (1 multi-paged). Detailed Analysis of Balmer Lines in a Sloan Digital Sky Survey Sample of 90 Broad Line Active Galactic Nuclei

In order to contribute to the general effort aiming at the improvement of our knowledge about the physical conditions within the Broad Line Region (BLR) of Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN), here we present the results achieved by our analysis of the spectral properties of a sample of 90 broad line emitting sources, collected at the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) database. By focusing our attention mainly onto the Balmer series of hydrogen emission lines, which is the dominant feature in the optical wavelength range of many BLR spectra, we extracted several flux and profile measurements, which we related to other source properties, such as optical continuum luminosities, inferred black hole masses, and accretion rates. Using the Boltzmann Plot method to investigate the Balmer line flux ratios as a function of the line profiles, we found that broader line emitting AGN typically have larger H_alpha / H_beta and smaller H_gamma / H_beta and H_delta / H_beta line ratios. With the help of some recent investigations, we model the structure of the BLR and we study the influence of the accretion process on the properties of the BLR plasma.Comment: 14 pages, 11 figures, fixes the wrong names of 4 objects; published on Ap

Concepts of art education curriculum, tendencies and challenges

Discussing the different concepts of teaching Art, one should start from the competences we want to transfer to students. Through different ideas about competences, we can see the wishes of individual countries about what is expected of visual arts education. In this review, we have focused on the thinking of the European countries. All European countries have some variants of learning art in curricula and outcomes that determine what is meant to be achieved by these subjects. Depending on whether these curricula are structured as an integrated whole or as a set of specific subjects, objectives/outcomes are defined more concretely for visual arts, music, theater, dance, media arts or crafts. Learning objectives differ from country to country: in some cases, they are more globally expressed, and in others, it is more specific. The goals to be achieved or the skills to be mastered are defined for each year of learning or schooling periods. There are increasing pressures on the art education to fulfill a number of goals, in addition to learning about art. Educational systems increasingly recognize the importance of developing children’s creativity and contributing to cultural education. Almost all European countries have similar goals for the curriculum of teaching Art, among them: the development of artistic skills, knowledge, and understanding, engagement with various art forms; increasing cultural understanding; exchange of experiences. But in addition to these artistic results, the curriculum includes personal and social/cultural outcomes (such as self-confidence and self-esteem, the individuality of expression, teamwork, intercultural understanding and cultural participation). The focus on creativity (often in relation to its importance in innovation) and cultural education (in relation to individual identity and the promotion of intercultural understanding) is present in these goals.Various studies have recognized the pressure to include in the art curriculum of the 21st century the study of new media (including film, photography and digital arts) and to enable students to use ICT as a part of the creative process. In many, it is also requested for art contents to be connected to other non-artistic subjects and thus deal with creative and cultural themes

Political discourse in the stories of Radovan Beli Marković

Politics and politicians, in most of the stories of Radovan Beli Marković, are not primary theme of narration, therefore Beli Marković is not considered as "political writer". But politics in his prose, for example – terror of Udba (the secret political police in communist Yugoslavia), "otkup" (confiscation of harvests by communists), violent inclusion of farmers to the cooperatives and other forms of repression against citizens in communist Yugoslavia, determines "from the depths" the life of the heroes of Beli Marković’s stories. The dissertation analyzes particularly those elements of political discourse which produce reader’s emotions and attitudes by which he is able to form a critical views on social and political order existed in Serbia after World War II, or the political events during the twentieth century in (post)communist Yugoslavia. The first chapter of the dissertation analyzes representation and realization of political discourse in the story “An Arsonist and Teresa full of Grace” (“Palikuća i Tereza milosti puna”, 1976), which can be taken as a literary stem cell of "political" prose by Radovan Beli Marković. The second chapter analyzes the collection of short stories The Years of Denouement (Godine raspleta, 1992), which contains most elements of political discourse in the whole opus of this writer. Finally, in the third chapter explored the elements of political discourse in other Beli Marković stories..

In an accelerating region of a cyclotron, an ion makes a large number of turns; thus, its n the Runge-Kutta method of the fourth order with the adaptive time step has been developed. The accuracy requirement is simultaneously set on position and momentum calculation. Magnetic fields used as inputs, have been evaluated in terms of the radial fluctuations of the orbital frequency, i.e. their isochronisms. Ion trajectory tracking has been performed for the following four test beams: H-, H+3, 4He+, He+, and 40Ar6+

Background: The most reliable data about arterial variations, which are very important in surgery and radiology, can be obtained from a large series of patients.Materials and methods: We examined angiographic and multislice computerised tomography (MSCT) images in a group of 1,265 patients and in 1 dissected specimen. Results: While in 946 (74.72%) of the patients a normal vascular pattern (type I) was noticed, in the remaining 320 (25.28%) patients variations of the branchesof the aortic arch were found, which were classified into types II through VIII and a few subtypes. Type II (2.84%) comprised a common origin of the left commoncarotid and subclavian arteries. Type III (15.56%) was related to an origin of the left subclavian artery from the brachiocephalic trunk. Type IV (0.55%) includedthe aortic origin of both common carotid and subclavian arteries, with the rightsubclavian artery having a retroesophageal course. Type V (0.24%) included thesame 4 supra-aortic branches, which, however, arose from a double or a right--sided aortic arch. Type VI (3.63%) comprised the aortic origin of the left vertebralartery, type VII (0.24%) the same origin of the right vertebral artery, and type VIII(2.22%) the aortic origin of the thyroideaima artery. A corresponding embryological background and clinical implications of the described aberrant vessels were presented. Conclusions: In more than one quarter of the cases, the branching pattern of the examined arteries did not follow the classical pattern. Detailed knowledge of aortic branch variations is of great significance in anatomy, embryology, andclinical medicine, especially in radiology and thoracic surgery
