The Role of Center for Broadcasting Development Studies in Improving Professional Education in Indonesia
A change of power in Indonesia marked a change of paradigm concerning almost every aspect of social political life in the country. Among those changes are the reinterpretation of the government role concerning the information control and freedom of press. As consequences of the strengthening of people power and their awareness to apply social control, press paradigm – including broadcasting- also changed. After 1998 reform, people became aware that broadcasting should be used for the people, by the people, and for the benefit of the people. In accordance with this situation, which is provoked by the elimination of the Ministry of Information, there is a need to establish the Center for Broadcasting Development Studies
The Relative Effects of Logistics, Coordination and Human Resource on Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief Mission Performance
Most studies on humanitarian aid and disaster relief (HADR) missions suggest that the quality of logistics, coordination and human resource management will affect their performance. However, studies in developing countries are mainly conceptual and lack the necessary empirical evidence to support these contentions. The current paper thereby aimed to fill this knowledge gap by statistically examining the effects of the abovementioned factors on such missions. Focusing on the Malaysian army due to its extensive experience in HADR operations, the paper opted for a quantitative approach to allow for a more objective analysis of the issues. The results show that there are other potential determinants of mission success which deserve due attention in future studies. They also suggest that human resource is not easily measured as a construct, and that this limitation in methodology must be overcome to derive more accurate conclusions regarding its effect on HADR mission performance.
Determination of effective diffusion coefficient of immobilized Baker's yeast invertase in various concentration of PVA-alginate matrix
Baker's yeast invertase is immobilized in PVA-alginate matrix using an improved method. PVA beads were prepared by adding calcium alginate to improve its stability, mechanical and chemical properties. Boric acid was used as the cross-linking agent and additional chemicals consisting of 10% boric acid and sodium sulphate solution was used as a treatment solution to harden the PVA-alginate beads. The determination of the effective diffusion of PVA-alginate matrix the vital step in optimizing the preparation of immobilized and water-soluble biocatalyst. In this study the two-level full factorial design was used to investigate the effect of PVA and boric acid concentrations and diffusions coefficient. Diffusion coefficient (De) is one of the factors that significantly affect the mass transport within the immobilization matrix. De value varies for each concentration of PVA and boric acid. The result concluded that both factors significantly affect the De. A maximum De value of 5.0141 x 10(-5) cm2s-1 was obtained at boric acid and PVA concentraion of 7w/v and 10.5 w/v respectively
Minat Perempuan Minangkabau Pada Politik Masih Rendah
In this paper “berpolitik” is participation in political domain, to get in parliament to take a part in Governor candidate, Mayor candidate and Kepala Nagari candidate, etc., in affirmative action. It's difficult to realize that because so many barriers: political situation, economic, political culture in recruitment system, perforate system in general election, the act of law; government good will to woman candidate; political party attention not yet in affirmative action (external factors). And so on woman participation can be realize with woman political motivation, woman political competence, women political awareness (internal factors) and so importance how the woman interpreted the politics and how far they believe politics and how far they believe woman leadership
A study of the kinetic of synthesis and crosslinking of methylol melamine
One mole of melamine (2,4,6 – amino 1,3,5 – triazine), approximately 126 g were reacted separately in suitable beakers on hot plate with stirrer using 144 cm3, 216 cm3, 288 cm3 , 360 cm3 and 432 cm3, of 37% formaldehyde which is equivalent to 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 moles respectively. The reaction was carried out in the presence of little quantity sodium dihydrogen phosphate as a catalyst, at various temperatures, molar ration of the reactants and concentration of catalyst. Since melamine is hexafunctional, complete formylation produces up to hexamethylol derivative before crosslinking take place. The kinetic of the reaction were affected by varying these parameters but follows a none complicated form. The relative viscosity of each resin increase as concentration increases. Increase in the amount of catalyst used and temperature of reaction medium reduced the time of formation and subsequent crosslinking to the resins. Keywords: Kinetic, Synthesis, Melamin
Regional validation of retracked sea levels from SARAL/Altika over the South China sea and adjacent seas
This paper focuses on assessing the quality of sea level anomaly (SLA) data from the new generation of Ka-band SARAL/AltiKa satellite altimetry over the continental shelf of the South China Sea. The region consists of peninsulas, shallow seas, and small islands that produce complicated altimetric waveform patterns. The improved-accuracy of SLAs data from the MLE4, Ice1 and Ice2 retrackers which are provided in the AVISO-Sensor Geophysical Data Records (SGDR) were optimized in this study. The quality of retracked SLAs is assessed by making comparison with tide gauge data from six stations. In general, the percentage of data availability of Ice-1 retracker is superior ( > 68%) to those of MLE- 4 and Ice-2 retrackers. The improvement of percentage (IMP) also shows that Ice-1 retracker improves the standard deviation > 12% better than those of Ice-2 retracker. Over complex areas of Lubang and Ko Taphao Noi, the temporal correlation of Ice-1 retracker is superior (r > 0.80) to those of MLE4 and Ice-2 retrackers (r 5.8) and lower RMS error ( < 34 cm) than those of Ice-1 retracker. It can be concluded that the Ice-1 and Ice-2 retrackers were superior for the coastal region of Maritime Continent
The roles of co-curricular in promoting students human capital development
Co-curricular is a group activity which is the activities that extension plan of the process of teaching and learning in classrooms that provide an opportunity to add, consolidate and practice the knowledge, skills and values learned in the classroom (Fadzil & Ahmad, 2010). It is a platform to develop physical, emotional, spiritual and intellectual in line with the goals of the National Education Philosophy. Co-curricular plays an important role in education like fertilize of personality and unity. Participation of students as young people and folk in the country in co-curricular activities can cultivate goodwill, unity, national integration and inculcating good values indirectly and directly participating in such activities. This is in line with the second core in the Education Development Master Plan (PIPP) that is Developing Human Capital. Quality human capital is the main asset of the State to determine the future of the country and nation. It is also important in the formation of the concept of "One Malaysia" for unity among Malaysians of all races
Critical fronts in initiation of excitation waves
Copyright © 2007 The American Physical SocietyJournal ArticleWe consider the problem of initiation of propagating waves in a one-dimensional excitable fiber. In the FitzHugh-Nagumo theory, the key role is played by "critical nucleus" and "critical pulse" solutions whose (center-) stable manifold is the threshold surface separating initial conditions leading to propagation and those leading to decay. We present evidence that in cardiac excitation models, this role is played by "critical front" solutions
