    Ion: The improvement of teacher's performance is strongly influenced by the role of principal as supervisor through academic supervision. This study was aimed at determining the academic supervision program of principal in improving teacher performance, implementing academic supervision program in improving teacher performance, and following up the principal academic supervision in improving teacher performance. This research used qualitative approach. The result showed that: (1) the preparation of academic supervision program was compiled at the beginning of the school year by involving the teachers. Academic supervision program was compiled based on the program faced by the teachers in learning process and adjusted to the needs of teacher, and (2) the implementation of academic supervision was based on the program that have been prepared by using several techniques such individual and group, and (3) the follow-up was conducted by the principal by giving guidance to teachers who have not met the standars and by giving reward to teachers who have met the standard. Based on the result, the implementation of academic supervision of the principal in improving teachers's performance at MIN 2 of Takengon, Aceh Tengah regency has not done well

    : The principal as the top manager has a strategic role in improving the performance of teachers. The purpose of this study are: to know: programs, strategies, and constraints faced by principals in improving the performance of teachers at SMAN 1 Mutiara Pidie District. This research uses descriptive method with qualitative approach. Data collection techniques used were: interviews, observation, and documentation study. The subjects are: principals, vice-principals, and teachers. The results showed that: (1) The program principals in improving teacher performance has been drafted, but not detailed very well. The compiled program remain to be implemented as quickly as possible by the principal to improve the performance of teachers. (2) The strategy for improving teacher performance by implementing a strategy of democratic leadership. In the face of teachers, usually the principal often exchange ideas with the teachers, so finding an effective way to improve their performance in the development of the learning process. Teachers whose performance is low, loud attitude and personality, with a persuasive approach school principals encourage them to improve their performance. (3) Obstacles encountered principals in improving teacher performance, among others: the lack of available funding for teacher training outside office hours, there are teachers who are less active, and the results have not been capable of upgrading disseminated to friends

    : A principal as a supervisor has a role to stimulate, coordinate, and guide teachers to be able to improve their professional competence as a teacher and educator. The purpose of this study was to find out the programs, strategies, and obstacles faced by the principal in improving professional competence of teachers in Mesjid Raya Islamic State Elementary School of Banda Aceh. This study used descriptive method with qualitative approach. The techniques of data collection were observation, interview, and documentation. The subjects of this study were principal, teachers, and students. The results of this study showed that: (1) the supervision programs in improving professional competence of teachers were designed by the principal and were documented, which included annual and semester programs. It positively affected the improvement of professional competence of teachers that the learning activities became positive. The principal as a supervisor still carried out supervision activity, fostering, guidance, and directing teachers to improve professional competence in learning activities. (2) The implementation of principal\u27s supervision as a supervisor in improving professional competence of teachers included classroom counseling, classroom observation, and classroom visiting. These activities positively affected the teachers in improving their professional competence in term of preparing the lesson plans before teaching. (3) The obstacles faced in improving professional competence of teachers were the lack of time for the principal in determining the supervision schedule and the small number of teachers disagreed with the implementation of supervision, if it was for observing the learning process. In following up the result of supervision, the principal has used educative and persuasive approach like guiding teachers with difficulties through discussion, classroom visiting, and talks

    Qualified education process. The education process is the essential component of the education system due to the number of educational resources utilized effectively and efficiently. This research was aimed at obtaining information about: (1) how did the leadership of the principal as a manager in policy implementation program at SMA Negeri 1 of Meureudu; (2) the strategy of principal as a manager in improving the quality of education; (3) the leadership style of principal in improving the quality of education at SMA Negeri 1 of Meureudu. This research used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The techniques of data collection were conducted through interview, observation, and documentation study. The subjects of this research were the principal, teachers, and students. The result showed that: (1) determining of policy through the formulation of vision, mission and the school objective, preparing School Budget Plan (RAPBS), discipline, administration, providing facilities and infrastructure, improving the ability of teachers through education, training, and provision of books; (2) in improving the quality of education, the strategies undertaken by the principal as a manager in improving the quality of education were; holding monthly meeting, guiding the teachers, creating a comfortable atmosphere to motivate teachers and staff, optimizing the use of resources; (3) the principal used the situational leadership style in managing the educators and education staff in accordance with the maturity level of subordinates

    : This study aimed to determine the teacher's pedagogical competence in lesson planning, learning process, and in improving students' motivation. To achieve these objectives, this study used descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through interview, observation, and documentation. The procedures of data analysis were data reduction data display and data verification. The subjects of this study were the principal, vice-principals and teachers. The results showed that: (1) the teachers' pedagogical competence in lesson planning was done by preparing a lesson plan draft, but some teachers did not bring the lesson plan during the learning process so that the learning objectives were not maximally achieved; (2) the teachers' pedagogical competence in the learning process was done by comprehending and solidifying the understanding on a number of learning materials contained in textbooks. Whereas in the learning process, there were for classroom management and undisciplined use of time: and (3) the teachers' pedagogical competence in improving student motivation was done by providing opportunities for students to be actively involved in the use of information and coomunication technology facilities in the achievementof learning goals, communicating effectively with learners, and conducting reflectieve action to improve the quality of learning

    : The management of public relations is an important factor in improving the quality of education at schools. The management of public relations is to establish a relationship with the community in order to get support in improving the quality of education, e.g., the quality of the learning process, student learning outcomes, and the community itself. The purpose of this study was to obtain an idea and know how program, implementation, and obstacles of public relation management between school and community in improving the quality of education at SMPN 13 of Banda Aceh. This study used a qualitative approach. The techniques of collecting data were done through observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects in this study school were principal, vice- principal of Public Relation Affairs, School Committee, and community leaders. The results showed that: (1) the school-community relations program has been designed by rejuvenating of the board of the school committee, regular meetings at the beginning of each school semester by involving all school stakeholders, fostering transparency in the management of the school; (2) The implementation of the management of the school-community relations (Public Relations) were to empower the activities of the school committee, require parents of the students to pick up report cards by themselves, inform progress and derogation of students to parents and school committee, provide information about the state of school to school committees and communities and celebrate religious holy days; (3) The obstacles faced in the implementation of public relations management were that some parents still did not yet have a high awareness of contributing to improve the quality of education at schools and would not come if there were parents and committee meetings, as well as other school activities

    ABSTRACT: Academic supervision is a series of activities to help teachers develop the ability to manage the learning process for the achievement of learning objectives. This study aims to determine how the planning, implementation and barriers to academic supervision by principals in improving the professional competence of teachers in public primary schools 2 Calang, Aceh Jaya. This research uses descriptive method with qualitative approach. Techniques of collecting data by interview, observation and documentation study. Subjects were principals, vice principals and teachers. Data were analyzed with techniques of reduction, display and conclusion. The results showed academic supervision plan drawn up at the beginning of the new school year involving vice-principals, and teachers. Goals in the planning of the academic supervision of the school head is the ability of teachers to manage learning, ranging from planning, implementing, and evaluating student learning outcomes. Implementation of academic supervision is done first communicated to teachers, conducted twice a semester, or four times in one school year. Academic supervision techniques used are classroom visits, teacher meetings, working groups and training teachers. Barriers academic supervision is still the shortage of school administrators. Their external activities that are sudden, so the supervision schedule that has been prepared previously disturbed. Teachers who are unable to attend on the schedule classroom visits that have been defined. Teachers who supervised scared stiff when will be supervised. Still there are some teachers who do not master the information and communication technology.Keywords: supervision of academic, principal, professional competence teacherABSTRAK - Supervisi akademik adalah serangkaian kegiatan untuk membantu guru mengembangkan kemampuannya dalam mengelola proses pembelajaran demi pencapaian tujuan pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana perencanaan, pelaksanaan dan hambatan supervisi akademik oleh kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan kompetensi profesional guru di SD Negeri 2 Calang Kabupaten Aceh Jaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan metode wawancara, observasi dan studi dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian adalah kepala sekolah, wakil kepala sekolah dan guru. Data dianalisis dengan teknik reduksi, penyajian dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perencanaan supervisi akademik disusun pada awal tahun ajaran baru dengan melibatkan wakil kepala sekolah, dan guru-guru. Sasaran dalam perencanaan supervisi akademik kepala sekolah adalah kemampuan guru dalam mengelola pembelajaran, mulai dari merencanakan, melaksanakan, dan mengevaluasi hasil belajar siswa. Pelaksanaan supervisi akademik dilakukan terlebih dahulu mengkomunikasikan kepada guru-guru, dilakukan sebanyak dua kali dalam satu semester, atau empat kali dalam satu tahun ajaran. Teknik supervisi akademik yang digunakan yaitu kunjungan kelas, rapat guru, kelompok kerja guru dan pelatihan. Hambatan-hambatan supervisi akademik masih adanya kekurangan tenaga administrasi sekolah. Adanya kegiatan-kegiatan eksternal yang sifatnya mendadak, sehingga jadwal supervisi yang sudah disusun sebelumnya juga terganggu. Guru yang berhalangan hadir pada jadwal kunjungan kelas yang sudah ditetapkan. Guru yang disupervisi merasa takut dan kaku saat akan disupervisi. Masih ada sebagian guru yang tidak menguasai teknologi informasi dan komunikasi.Kata Kunci: supervisi akademik, kepala sekolah, kompetensi profesional gur
