Optical observation of quasiperiodic Heisenberg antiferromagnets in two dimensions

We calculate magnetic Raman spectra of Heisenberg antiferromagnets on the two-dimensional Penrose lattice. We follow the Shastry-Shraiman formulation of Raman scattering in a strongly correlated Hubbard system and obtain the second- and fourth-order effective Raman operators. The second-order Raman intensity comes from the E2 mode, and it is invariant under an arbitrary rotation of polarization vectors. The fourth-order Raman intensities consist of A1 and A2, as well as E2, modes and therefore yield strong polarization dependence. In particular, the A2 mode intensity directly detects the dynamical spin-chirality fluctuations. Employing linearly and circularly polarized lights, we can separately extract every irreducible representation from the observations. We further discuss effects of magnon-magnon interactions on the magnetic Raman scattering. Gastric Hyperplastic Polyp Associated with Proliferation of Xanthoma Cells Observed by Magnification Narrow-Band Imaging Endoscopy

A case of gastric hyperplastic polyp with proliferation of xanthoma cells is reported. The patient was a 69-year-old man who visited our hospital for further evaluation of gastric polyps. Endoscopic examination of the upper digestive tract revealed multiple hyperplastic polyps in the gastric antrum. There was a pedunculated polyp with whitish yellow granules, 7 mm in diameter, arising from the greater curvature of the antrum. Magnification narrow-band imaging endoscopy (GIF-H260Z, Olympus) revealed long microcapillaries in the polyp but did not reveal disappearance of the mucosal microstructure or irregular branched capillaries. Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) was performed. Histological examination of the specimen revealed the lengthened gastric foveolae in the superficial portion and tight sheet of foamy histiocytes in the lamina propria. Diagnosis of gastric hyperplastic polyp with proliferation of xanthoma cells was made. There was no evidence of malignancy. It is necessary to know that a gastric hyperplastic polyp may associate with gastric xanthoma, although such association is very rare

First synthesis of 1-(indo1-2-yl)azulenes by the Vilsmeier-Haack type arylation with triflic anhydride as an activating reagent

Azulene derivatives reacted with 2-indolinones in the presence of triflic anhydride (Tf2O) to afford 1-(indo1-2-yl)azulenes in good yields. In the cases of the reaction of 6-tert-butyl-1-(methylthio)azulene (11) and 1-(1,4-dihydropyridin-4-yl)azulene 14, 1,1'-biazulene derivative 24 and 1-(indo1-2-yl)azulene (2) were obtained under the similar reaction conditions, respectively, instead of the presumed electrophilic substitution products.ArticleTETRAHEDRON LETTERS. 53(12):1493-1496 (2012)journal articl

A Study of Relationship between Self-Esteem, Clarity of Self-Concept, and Temporal Stability of Self-Consept

本研究は、自尊感情水準の高低と自己概念の明確性およびその時間的安定性との関係を調べるものである。これまでの研究から低自尊感情者は、高自尊感情者と比較して、自己概念が曖昧または中間的であることが確認されている。また、低自尊感情者は高自尊感情者と比較して自己概念の変動性が高いことも確認されている。しかし、これらの知見は、それぞれ異なる被験者について得られたものである。本研究では同じ被験者について自己概念の明確性および時間的安定性を調べた。結果は別々の被験者から得られた結果と一致していた。同一の被験者においても低自尊感情者は、高自尊感情者よりも、自己概念の明確性および時間的安定性が低かった。This article examines relationship between self-esteem, clarity of self-concept, and temporal stability of self-concept within identical person. This study tested the hypothesis that the self-concepts of low self-esteem people have less clarity or certainty than those of high self-esteem people. Development and Validation of a Scale for Measuring Meaningful Life Experiences of Junior High School Students

本研究の目的は、中学生の生きがい感体験測定尺度の作成およびこの尺度の妥当性を検証することである。中学生の自由記述を基に32項目から成る生きがい感体験尺度を作成した。因子分析の結果からこの尺度は8因子から構成されていることが示された。この尺度の収束的および判別的妥当性についての因子的および外的な証拠も明らかにしている。The purpose of this study is to develop a scale for measuring meaningful life experiences of junior high school students and examine validity of this scale. We developed a meaningful life experiences scale formed of 32 items on the basis of descriptions by junior high school students. Factor analysis revealed that this scale has 8 factors. Factorial and external evidence of convergent and discriminant validity for the scale are also presented
