Estudos de luminância analisam a qualidade de iluminação num ambiente construído, e frequentemente estão acompanhados de novas ferramentas, como é o caso do uso de fotografias, que permitem realizar o estudo de maneira rápida e econômica em relação à maneira tradicional.     Computer-based automation of concentration measurements with ion-selective electrodes

    An integrated computer system consisting of an expandable ionanalyzer and a PC has been used to automate concentration measurements with ion-selective electrodes (ISEs). The ionanalyzer determines ionic concentrations using a reference electrode coupled with an ISE. The measurements and calibrations are carried out in a thermostated sample changer equipped with a flow cell. The data obtained by the ionanalyzer are sent via a standard RS 232-C interface to a microcomputer. In this paper, we describe the automatic data acquisition system and the subsequent processing of the measurements. One program (Transorion) automatically collects the measurements carried out by the ionanalyzer, giving a real-time graphic representation of the measurement on the computer screen. A second program (Graforion) facilitates the management of the data stored by the first program, and listing and graphics of these can be obtained on the printer/plotter.     Implementing ARP-Path Low Latency Bridges in NetFPGA

    The demo is focused on the implementation of ARP-Path (a.k.a. FastPath) bridges, a recently proposed concept for low latency bridges. ARP-Path Bridges rely on the race between broadcast ARP Request packets, to discover the minimum latency path to the destination host. Several implementations (in Omnet++, Linux, OpenFlow, NetFPGA) have shown that ARP-Path exhibits loop-freedom, does not block links, is fully transparent to hosts and neither needs a spanning tree protocol to prevent loops nor a link state protocol to obtain low latency paths. This demo compares our hardware implementation on NetFPGA to bridges running STP, showing that ARP-Path finds lower latency paths than STP.Comunidad de MadridJunta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Manch

    Inverting the Supersymmetric Standard Model Spectrum: from Physical to Lagrangian Ino Parameters

    We examine the possibility of recovering the supersymmetric (and soft supersymmetry breaking) Lagrangian parameters as direct {\em analytical} expressions of appropriate physical masses, for the unconstrained (but CP and R-parity conserving) minimal supersymmetric standard model. We concentrate mainly on the algebraically non-trivial "inversion" for the ino parameters, and obtain, for given values of tanβ\tan\beta, simple analytical expressions for the μ\mu, M1M_1 and M2M_2 parameters in terms of three arbitrary input physical masses, namely either two chargino and one neutralino masses, or alternatively one chargino and two neutralino masses. We illustrate and discuss in detail the possible occurrence of ambiguities in this reconstruction. The dependence of the resulting ino Lagrangian parameters upon physical masses is illustrated, and some simple generic behaviour uncovered in this way.     Patterns of gauge symmetry in the background field method

    The correlation functions of Yang-Mills theories formulated in the background field method satisfy linear Slavnov-Taylor identities, which are naive generalizations of simple tree level relations, with no deformations originating from the ghost sector of the theory. In recent years, a stronger version of these identities has been found to hold at the level of the background gluon self-energy, whose transversality is enforced separately for each special block of diagrams contributing to the gluon Schwinger-Dyson equation. In the present work we demonstrate by means of explicit calculations that the same distinct realization of the Slavnov-Taylor identity persists in the case of the background three-gluon vertex. The analysis is carried out at the level of the exact Schwinger-Dyson equation for this vertex, with no truncations or simplifying assumptions. The demonstration entails the contraction of individual vertex diagrams by the relevant momentum, which activates Slavnov-Taylor identities of vertices and multi-particle kernels nested inside these graphs; the final result emerges by virtue of a multitude of extensive cancellations, without the need of performing explicit integrations. In addition, we point out that background Ward identities amount to replacing derivatives of propagators by zero-momentum background-gluon insertions, in exact analogy to standard properties of Abelian gauge theories.     b-tau Unification and neutrino masses in SU(5) extensions of the MSSM with radiative electroweak symmetry breaking

    We make a complete analysis of the Yukawa coupling unification in SU(5) extensions of the MSSM in the framework of the radiative symmetry breaking scenario. Both logarithmic and finite threshold corrections of sparticles have been included in the determination of the gauge and Yukawa couplings at M_Z. The effect of the heavy masses of each model in the renormalization group equations is also included. We find that in the minimal SU(5) model b-tau Yukawa unification can be achieved for too large a value of alpha_s. On the other hand the Peccei-Quinn version of the Missing Doublet model, with the effect of the right handed neutrino also included, exhibits b-tau unification in excellent agreement with all low energy experimental data.     More on Supersymmetric Domain Walls, N Counting and Glued Potentials

    Various features of domain walls in supersymmetric gluodynamics are discussed. We give a simple field-theoretic interpretation of the phenomenon of strings ending on the walls recently conjectured by Witten. An explanation of this phenomenon in the framework of gauge field theory is outlined. The phenomenon is argued to be particularly natural in supersymmetric theories which support degenerate vacuum states with distinct physical properties. The issue of existence (or non-existence) of the BPS saturated walls in the theories with glued (super)potentials is addressed. The amended Veneziano-Yankielowicz effective Lagrangian belongs to this class. The physical origin of the cusp structure of the effective Lagrangian is revealed, and the limitation it imposes on the calculability of the wall tension is explained. Related problems are considered. In particular, it is shown that the so called discrete anomaly matching, when properly implemented, does not rule out the chirally symmetric phase of supersymmetric gluodynamics, contrary to recent claims.Comment: 40 pages, Latex, 5 figures.     Anomalies in field theories with extra dimensions

    We give an overview of the issue of anomalies in field theories with extra dimensions. We start by reviewing in a pedagogical way the computation of the standard perturbative gauge and gravitational anomalies on non-compact spaces, using Fujikawa's approach and functional integral methods, and discuss the available mechanisms for their cancellation. We then generalize these analyses to the case of orbifold field theories with compact internal dimensions, emphasizing the new aspects related to the presence of orbifold singularities and discrete Wilson lines, and the new cancellation mechanisms that are becoming available.     Evolución conceptual de los protocolos de puentes transparentes

    Los puentes Ethernet transparentes son un elemento cada vez más importante en las redes\ud de telecomunicaciones. Este artículo ofrece una visión panorámica de la evolución conceptual de los\ud paradigmas de puentes durante las últimas décadas, desde los puentes transparentes con árbol de\ud expansión hasta las propuestas actualmente en estandarización: por una parte Shortest Path Bridges,\ud Provider Bridges y Provider Backbone Bridges en el IEEE 802.1; por otra parte Routing Bridges en el\ud IETF. Estas propuestas buscan aumentar la escalabilidad y obtener una alta utilización de la infraestructura\ud de red, así como la provisión de servicios basados en Ethernet a gran número de usuarios. Mediante\ud un mapa genealógico y una tabla se resumen e ilustran los aspectos funcionales, la evolución de los\ud puentes propuestos en cuanto a los mecanismos básicos empleados para el encaminamiento, reenvío\ud y la prevención de bucles tales como protocolos de vector distancia y de estado de enlaces, árboles\ud múltiples de expansión, jerarquización mediante encapsulado de tramas y prohibición de algunos giros\ud en los nodos. La evolución reciente de las propuestas muestra claramente varias tendencias: el predominio\ud de los protocolos de estado de enlaces como IS-IS para el encaminamiento y/o construcción de\ud árboles múltiples, de los mecanismos de encapsulado, y la multiplicación de tipos de identificadores\ud para etiquetar y procesar separada y homogéneamente miles de servicios y clientes
