The results of treatment of femoral diaphysis fractures using locked intramedullary osteosynthesis and extramedullary osteosynthesis (results for 10 years)

Background. Femoral diaphysis fractures are one of the most common and significant injuries to the bones of the limbs. Locked intramedullary osteosynthesis makes it possible to reduce the injury rate of the surgery and its length, as well as to carry out early rehabilitation of patients. The aim of the study. To conduct a continuous retrospective single-purpose comparative study of  the results of treatment of patients with femoral diaphysis fractures treated with locked intramedullary osteosynthesis and extramedullary osteosynthesis for 10 years. This study did not include patients with double femoral fractures treated by osteosynthesis using a combination of two implants – locked intramedullary implant and extramedullary implant. Material and methods. We conducted a retrospective study of the results of treatment of patients from 2011 to 2020. During this period, we treated 794 patients aged from 16 to 77 years with femoral diaphysis fractures. The share of people of working age was 75 %. The patients were divided into two groups depending on the method of surgical treatment. Group 1 included 500 patients who had surgical treatment using locked intramedullary osteosynthesis. Group 2 included 294 patients who had surgical treatment using extramedullary osteosynthesis. Results. In patients of group 1 treated with locked intramedullary osteosynthesis, good anatomical and functional treatment results were achieved in 70 % of cases; satisfactory treatment results – in 25.2 % of cases, unsatisfactory results – in 4.8 %. In the group 2, good results were achieved in 61.9 % of cases, satisfactory – in 29.6 %, unsatisfactory – in 8.5 %. Conclusion. The obtained results of treatment of femoral diaphysis fractures show the undeniable advantage of using locked intramedullary osteosynthesis compared to extramedullary osteosynthesis

Low-cement refractory concretes of aluminum silicate composition based on submicron aluminum oxide grade NK-Alumina 14

Properties are provided for submicron aluminum oxide developed in SAO PKF NK for low-cement refractory concretes, and also for the LCRC of aluminosilicate composition obtained. It is demonstrated that the properties of concretes prepared on the basis of the alumina developed are no worse than domestic and imported analog

Off-limb EUV observations of the solar corona and transients with the CORONAS-F/SPIRIT telescope-coronagraph

The SPIRIT telescope aboard the CORONAS-F satellite (in orbit from 26 July 2001 to 5 December 2005), observed the off-limb solar corona in the 175 Å (Fe IX, X and XI lines) and 304 Å (He II and Si XI lines) bands. In the coronagraphic mode the mirror was tilted to image the corona at the distance of 1.1...5 <I>R</I>sun from the solar center, the outer occulter blocked the disk radiation and the detector sensitivity was enhanced. This intermediate region between the fields of view of ordinary extreme-ultraviolet (EUV) telescopes and most of the white-light (WL) coronagraphs is responsible for forming the streamer belt, acceleration of ejected matter and emergence of slow and fast solar wind. We present here the results of continuous coronagraphic EUV observations of the solar corona carried out during two weeks in June and December 2002. The images showed a "diffuse" (unresolved) component of the corona seen in both bands, and non-radial, ray-like structures seen only in the 175 Å band, which can be associated with a streamer base. The correlations between latitudinal distributions of the EUV brightness in the corona and at the limb were found to be high in 304 Å at all distances and in 175 Å only below 1.5 <I>R</I>sun. The temporal correlation of the coronal brightness along the west radial line, with the brightness at the underlying limb region was significant in both bands, independent of the distance. On 2 February 2003 SPIRIT observed an expansion of a transient associated with a prominence eruption seen only in the 304 Å band. The SPIRIT data have been compared with the corresponding data of the SOHO LASCO, EIT and UVCS instruments

The main problems of building the system of statistical indicators in the field of cryonics

Cryonics as rather inconsistent, but constantly developing sphere of activity of modern society cannot be adequately estimated by means of separate private indicators or even their enlarged groups. This requires the development of a system of indicators that includes not only the traditional parameters of material and technical base and human capacity, but also the scale, intensity, results and consequences of cryonic activities. The key problems of the system of indicators of critical activity statistics, its features and possible approaches to its construction have been considered in the article

Dissipative soliton resonance in a full polarization-maintaining fiber ring laser at different values of dispersion

    Get PDF
We investigated the dissipative solitons resonance in an ytterbium-doped fiber ring laser in which all the elements are polarization maintaining (PM). A semiconductor saturable absorber mirror was used as a mode-locker. The cavity included a normal dispersion single-mode fiber (SMF) and an anomalous dispersion photonic crystal fiber. The change of the length of the PM SMF allows the variation of the net-normal dispersion of the cavity in the range from 0.022 ps2 to 0.262 ps2. As the absolute value of the net-normal dispersion increases from 0.022 ps2 to 0.21 ps2, a square-shaped single pulse transformed to a single right-angle trapezoid-shaped pulse, and, at the dispersion of 0.262 ps2, to multiple right-angle trapezoid-shaped pulses, per round-trip

© 2015 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim. Novel electrochemical DNA-sensor based on glassy carbon electrode (GCE) modified with Ag nanoparticles, Neutral red covalently attached to its surface and native DNA adsorbed on modifier coating was developed for the estimation of DNA damage on example of model system based on Fenton reagent. As was shown, the oxidation process resulted in synchronous increase of electron transfer resistance and capacitance measured by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The contribution of each sensor component on the signal was specified and sensitivity estimated against similar surface coatings. The shift of EIS parameters was found to be higher than that of similar biosensors reported. The DNA sensor was tested on the estimation of antioxidant capacity of green tea infusions again the results of coulometric titration with electrogenerated bromine

This paper describes digital radio astronomical receivers used for decameter and meter wavelength observations. This paper describes digital radio astronomical receivers used for decameter and meter wavelength observations. Since 1998, digital receivers performing on-the-fly dynamic spectrum calculations or waveform data recording without data loss have been used at the UTR-2 radio telescope, the URAN VLBI system, and the GURT new generation radio telescope. Here we detail these receivers developed for operation in the strong interference environment that prevails in the decameter wavelength range. Data collected with these receivers allowed us to discover numerous radio astronomical objects and phenomena at low frequencies, a summary of which is also presented.Comment: 24 pages, 15 figure
