competicions. S’estudien tres grups dividits per tres nivells diferents: Escolar (8
gimnastes), Promogym (11 gimnastes) i Tecnificació (28 gimnastes).
dues competicions, on s’analitzaran els podis.
The goal of this study is to prove that a good relationship between a gymnast and a
trainer is a determining factor to achieve better results in competitions. The study
includes three groups divided by three different levels: schoolchild (8 gymnasts),
Promogym (11 gymnasts) and technification (28 gymnasts). The analysis of the
gymnast-trainer relationship, based on an adaptation of the Cart-Q (Jowett &
Ntoumanis, 2004) and the SF-PANAS (Thompson, 2007) questionnaires, will be carried
out before two competitions, where the podium will be also analyzed. In observing the
study, the fall in the average of the 3 C’s aspects (Closeness, Commitment and
Complementarity) was linked to a fall in the results. On the other hand, the increase of
the number of podiums achieved was related to the rise in the averages of the 3C’s.
Therefore, the relationship between the gymnast and the trainer is a significant factor to
evaluate the competition results

Role of estrogens in fish immunity with special emphasis on GPER1
It is well accepted that estrogens, the primary female sex hormones, play a key role in modulating different aspects of the immune response. Moreover, estrogens have been linked with the sexual dimorphism observed in some immune disorders, such as chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. Nevertheless, their effects are often controversial and depend on several factors, such as the pool of estrogen receptors (ERs) involved in the response. Their classical mode of action is through nuclear ERs, which act as transcription factors, promoting the regulation of target genes. However, it has long been noted that some of the estrogen-mediated effects cannot be explained by these classical receptors, since they are rapid and mediated by non-genomic signaling pathways. Hence, the interest in membrane ERs, especially in G protein-coupled estrogen receptor 1 (GPER1), has grown in recent years. Although the presence of nuclear ERs, and ER signaling, in immune cells in mammals and fish has been well documented, information on membrane ERs is much scarcer. In this context, the present manuscript aims to review our knowledge concerning the effect of estrogens on fish immunity, with special emphasis on GPER1. For example, the numerous tools developed over recent years allowed us to report for the first time that the regulation of fish granulocyte functions by estrogens through GPER1 predates the split of fish and tetrapods more than 450 million years ago, pointing to the relevance of estrogens as modulators of the immune responses, and the pivotal role of GPER1 in immunity.Versión del editor3,26
Production and separation of value-added compounds from pine wood using pyrolysis and biorefinery techniques
Altres ajuts: acords transformatius de la UABAltres ajuts: LIFE Programme of the European Union for the project LIFE BIOREFFORMED (LIFE 19 ENV/ES/000544)Value-added compounds were obtained from pine wood bio-oil, converting it into a renewable source for several chemicals: acids (acetic acid), sugars (levoglucosan), furan derivatives (furfural) and phenolics (catechol, phenol, 4-propylguaiacol, vanillin). To achieve this, firstly a comparison of a direct pyrolysis at 500 °C versus a two-staged pyrolysis (300 °C and 500 °C) was made. It was determined that a two-staged pyrolysis ensue in the obtainment of less complex liquid fractions since it concentrates families of compounds in different phases of bio-oil, facilitating their subsequent separation. Secondly, two methodologies (A and B) were designed to establish a procedure for separating the various chemical groups present in bio-oil. Methodology A consisted of a first vacuum distillation followed by an extraction process that combined an alkaline extraction and a simple extraction with ethyl acetate. Methodology B consisted of a first extraction with trioctylamine and ethyl acetate followed by a vacuum distillation and an extraction with hot water. The results showed that methodology A was better for the separation of chemical compounds from bio-oil, obtaining one fraction with the carboxylic acid content and furan derivatives, a second fraction containing the phenolic compounds and a third fraction enriched with the sugar content
Uveal Melanoma, Angiogenesis and Immunotherapy, Is There Any Hope?
Uveal melanoma is considered a rare disease but it is the most common intraocular malignancy in adults. Local treatments are effective, but the systemic recurrence rate is unacceptably high. Moreover, once metastasis have developed the prognosis is poor, with a 5-year survival rate of less than 5%, and systemic therapies, including immunotherapy, have rendered poor results. The tumour biology is complex, but angiogenesis is a highly important pathway in these tumours. Vasculogenic mimicry, the ability of melanomas to generate vascular channels independently of endothelial cells, could play an important role, but no effective therapy targeting this process has been developed so far. Angiogenesis modulates the tumour microenvironment of melanomas, and a close interplay is established between them. Therefore, combining immune strategies with drugs targeting angiogenesis offers a new therapeutic paradigm. In preclinical studies, these approaches effectively target these tumours, and a phase I clinical study has shown encouraging results in cutaneous melanomas. In this review, we will discuss the importance of angiogenesis in uveal melanoma, with a special focus on vasculogenic mimicry, and describe the interplay between angiogenesis and the tumour microenvironment. In addition, we will suggest future therapeutic approaches based on these observations and mention ways in which to potentially enhance current treatments
