    Phytate is commonly found in high concentration in rice bran. This compound can bind multivalency ions. The purpose of this study was to know the effect of rice bran in native chicken diet on Cd absorption. Twenty four native male chicks aged 3 months were randomly divided into six groups of treatments. The average weight of chick used in this experiment was 422.08 ± 39 g. The dietary treatments were 0% (R0), 10% (R1), 20% (R2), 30% (R3), 40% (R4), and 50% (R5) of rice bran in the ration given for 8 weeks. Drinking water containing 100 ppm Cd was given ad libitum. The results indicated that those treatments had no significant effect on Cd absorption, Cd concentration in feces, kidney, liver and weight of kidney and liver. Average of Cd in kidney and liver were 284.24 and 117.53 ppm respectively. It was concluded that rice bran in the native chick diet did not reduce Cd absorption. The utilization of rice bran and Cd pollution for long term period and in high concentration in the diet gave negative effect on native chicken performance

    This research was conducted on April 4 to June 1 2015 at Fish Nutrition Laboratory and Aquaculture Technology Laboratory, Fisheries and Marine Sciences Faculty, Riau University. This research aimed to determine the effect of probiotic supplementation in artificial diets on feed digestibility, feed efficiency, protein retention and growth of Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). Completely Randomized Design (CRD), was used with five treatments and three replications. The treatments were probiotic supplementation in diets with different concentration i.e : P0 (without probiotic supplementation in diets), P1 (probiotic sapplementation of 5 mL/kg diets), P2 (probiotic sapplementation of 10 mL/kg diets), P3 (probiotic sapplementation of 15 mL/kg diets) dan P4 (probiotic sapplementation of 20 mL/kg diets). Probiotic given through artificial diets with 30% of crude protein content. The results showed P4 (probiotic sapplementation of 20 mL/kg diets) were the best treatment with feed digestibility of 50,74%, feed efficiency of 29,27%, protein retention of 45,63%, and specific growth rate of 3,64% for Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus)

    Development of Regional Maximum Permissible Concentrations of Oil, Lead, Chromium, Nickel, and Copper in the Ordinary Black Soils of Central Ciscaucasia

    Contamination of ordinary chernozems of the Central Ciscaucasia with oil, lead, chromium, nickel and copper leads to a deterioration in their biological indicators. A significant decrease in the number of microflora, enzymatic activity and inhibition of the state of plants was established. The ecotoxicity sequence of heavy metals for ordinary black soils of Central Ciscaucasia is the following: Cr > Pb ≥Cu ≥ Ni. Ordinary black soils of Central Ciscaucasia, compared to similar black soils of Western Ciscaucasia, are somewhat less resistant to pollution with chromium, but are more resistant to pollution with copper and nickel. Resistance to pollution with lead and oil is the same. Regional maximum permissible concentrations of oil, lead, chromium, nickel and copper have been set for ordinary black soils of Central Ciscaucasia, based on disruptions of the environmental and the agricultural functions of the soil

    Dephasing of a Qubit due to Quantum and Classical Noise

    The qubit (or a system of two quantum dots) has become a standard paradigm for studying quantum information processes. Our focus is Decoherence due to interaction of the qubit with its environment, leading to noise. We consider quantum noise generated by a dissipative quantum bath. A detailed comparative study with the results for a classical noise source such as generated by a telegraph process, enables us to set limits on the applicability of this process vis a vis its quantum counterpart, as well as lend handle on the parameters that can be tuned for analyzing decoherence. Both Ohmic and non-Ohmic dissipations are treated and appropriate limits are analyzed for facilitating comparison with the telegraph process.Comment: 12 pages, 8 figure

    A Coupled Map Lattice Model for Rheological Chaos in Sheared Nematic Liquid Crystals

    A variety of complex fluids under shear exhibit complex spatio-temporal behaviour, including what is now termed rheological chaos, at moderate values of the shear rate. Such chaos associated with rheological response occurs in regimes where the Reynolds number is very small. It must thus arise as a consequence of the coupling of the flow to internal structural variables describing the local state of the fluid. We propose a coupled map lattice (CML) model for such complex spatio-temporal behaviour in a passively sheared nematic liquid crystal, using local maps constructed so as to accurately describe the spatially homogeneous case. Such local maps are coupled diffusively to nearest and next nearest neighbours to mimic the effects of spatial gradients in the underlying equations of motion. We investigate the dynamical steady states obtained as parameters in the map and the strength of the spatial coupling are varied, studying local temporal properties at a single site as well as spatio-temporal features of the extended system. Our methods reproduce the full range of spatio-temporal behaviour seen in earlier one-dimensional studies based on partial differential equations. We report results for both the one and two-dimensional cases, showing that spatial coupling favours uniform or periodically time-varying states, as intuitively expected. We demonstrate and characterize regimes of spatio-temporal intermittency out of which chaos develops. Our work suggests that such simplified lattice representations of the spatio-temporal dynamics of complex fluids under shear may provide useful insights as well as fast and numerically tractable alternatives to continuum representations.Comment: 32 pages, single column, 20 figure

    Pengaruh Kitosan Iradiasi Terhadap Fermentabilitas dan Kecernaan (In Vitro)

    Penelitian pengaruh kitosan iradiasi terhadap kinerja fermentabiltas dan kecernaan bahan organik dan bahan kering telah dilakukan teknik in vitro. Seperangkat alat dan bahan in invitro telah disiapkan untuk menguji level pemberian kitosan iradiasi dalam ransum konsentrat. Level kitosan telah diuji dengan 6 pelakuan, yaitu tanpa kotosan, 300 ppm; 350 ppm, 400 ppm, 450 ppm dan 500 ppm kitosan iradiasi dalam ransum. Data yang diperoleh telah dianalisis dengan mengguanakan uji polinomial orthohonal dan kontras orthogonal, menggunakan SPPS IBM 21. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa laju fermentabilitas dan kecernaan bahan keriang dan organik berbeda nyata lebih tinggi hingga panambahan kitosan iradiasi 450 ppm. Disimpulkan bahwa kitosan hingga 450 ppm mampu mensimulasi kerja mikro rumen dalam profes biokomiawi fermentasi dan kecernaan di dalam rumen secara in vitro
