The Features of Acute Brucellosis in Azerbaijan Republic

It is well known, that the injury of organs and systems and also immunological rates considerably determine clinical course and the result of brucellosis. In the article are presented the results of examination of 120 patients with acute brucellosis. The control group included 30 practically healthy persons. Groups were representative by the age and sex. The diagnosis of brucellosis was set on the base of complaints, anamnesis, epidemiological and clinical data and the results of serological examination of the blood. All patients also underwent the fixation of interleukin -6, іinterleukin-4 and TLR-2 in the blood serum. The detailed epidemiological, clinical and immunological characteristic of patients with brucellosis was presented. Among examined persons prevailed men, persons of young able-bodied persons and rural dwellers. It was revealed, that the dominating way of transmission was the contact one. The highest level of infection was fixed among the workers of farm enterprises and veterinarians. The season features were also revealed, the highest level of morbidity was in summer-autumn period. The main clinical features were: fever, arthralgia, risen disposition to perspire, hepatosplenomegaly. It was revealed, that the level of pro-inflammatory interleukins considerably prevailed over the level of anti-inflammatory ones. Despite the high sensitivity of PCR diagnostics, the positive results in our research were received only in one third of patients

Il-4 Polymorphism in Patients with Acute Brucellosis in the Republic of Azerbaijan

Currently, there are isolated data on the relationship between IL-4 polymorphism (C-589T) and susceptibility to brucellosis. Therefore, the purpose of the study was to determine the frequency of polymorphism of IL-4 (C-589T) in patients with acute brucellosis.Materials and methods: the article presents the results of surveys of 120 patients with acute brucellosis. The control group consisted of 30 practically healthy persons. The diagnosis of brucellosis was based on complaints, anamnesis, epidemiological and clinical data, and the results of a specific study. The definition of the polymorphism of IL-4 (C-589T) was performed for all patients in the main and control group. A detailed description of patients with brucellosis is presented. Among the observed prevailed men and young people of working age. Results: A mild degree was established in 74 (61.66 %) patients, while severe - only in 11 (9.17 %) patients. It was determined that the genotype CT (65.83 %) was significantly more common among patients with brucellosis than in the control group, where the frequency of this genotype was only 16.66 %. While the CC genotype was 3.2 times more common among healthy individuals than among patients in the main group (76.67 % versus 24.17 %), it was found that the CC genotype of the IL-4 gene was 13 times more common in patients for acute brucellosis with mild progress than with severe. Conclusions: The genotype IL-4 (C-589T) SS is significantly associated with the mild course of brucellosis

Historical Cropping Practices, South Central Region of Idaho

This poster examines historical crop production in the South Central region of Idaho between 1938 and 2009. The South Central region is comprised of eight counties; Blaine, Camas, Cassia, Gooding, Jerome, Lincoln, Minidoka and Twin Falls (Figure 1). Historical acres harvested were examined for nine major crops; alfalfa hay (dry), barley, corn (grain), corn (silage), oats, potatoes, spring wheat, sugarbeets and winter wheat. Although other crops are grown in the area, the nine crops examined account for the greatest percentage of harvested acres within the region. Acres harvested were obtained from data available from the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) www.nass.gov

Embeddability of pseudoline arrangements and point configurations to Eucliean plane

The present thesis explores embeddability (realizability) properties of pseudoline arrangements, perhaps, the most important mathematical structures in computational geometry. The underlying theme is the use of combinatorial representation of arrangements vs. usual geometric representation to approach the embeddability problem. The combinatorial representation chosen is that of counterclockwise systems (CCsystems) introduced by D.E. Knuth in 1992. CC systems were defined as sets of ordered triples of points that incorporate and obey counterclockwise relations on points in the plane. If a CC system can arise from actual points in the plane, it is called realizable. Not all CC-systems are realizable in plane, since they are defined by axioms that involve at most five points. The most famous nonrealizable configuration on nine points corresponds to so-called theorem of Pappus, which is a legal CC-system. Any heuristic solution to realizability question is proven to be NP-hard. The primary goal of this thesis is to consider embeddings of CC-systems to the Euclidean plane and to exploit properties coherent to embeddable systems. As a major effort in this task we have developed and implemented algorithms (brute force as well as breadth-first search) for finding the convex hull of a CC-system and geometrically testing the realizability of the system using linear programming methods. Recently, Goodman, Pollack, Wenger, and Zamfirescu1 2 have proved two conjectures of Grunbaum, showing that any arrangement of pseudolines on 8 points in the plane can be embedded into a projective plane, and that there exists a universal topological projective plane in which every arrangement of pseudolines is stretchable (realizable). Thus, we have conducted our realizability tests on systems arising from 9 or more points. Pappus system mentioned above and other non-realizable extensions of it on more than 9 points were studied as well. We have also developed a graphical interface (Java application) for creating, dynamically updating, visualizing and storing CC-systems. Visual geometric embedding of a particular system point-by-point is another feature provided by this interface

Russian world, Pan-Turkism and EU normative power in Gagauz Yeri: competing geopolitical ideologies and regional identity at the sub-state level

The current state of Gagauzia, a territorial autonomy within Moldova since the 1990s, reflects its troubled historical past and geographical location. Located at the crossroads of geopolitical interests, Gagauzia even today is subject to geopolitical influence of various power sources, as the interests of Turkey, Russia and the European Union converge in the region. This competition can be best reflected as a struggle of geopolitical ideologies emitted by Turkey (Pan-Turkism), Russia (Russian world) and the European Union (EU normative power), which are certainly interested in either shaping their international milieu or bringing the adjacent regions into their sphere of influence. The major aim of this research is to find out the post-2014 elitar narrative in Gagauzia toward each geopolitical ideology. The relevant Self and Other narrative of Gagauz political, cultural and intellectual figures shapes not only contemporary Gagauz identity, but also which region(s) they belong to, which geopolitical civilization(s) they feel ascribed to, which external actors are constructed as their closest allies and enemies and where they see their future.https://www.ester.ee/record=b5243257*es
