Blended Project Based Learning: Thinking Skills of New Students of Biology Education Department (Environmental Sustainability Perspective)
This study aims to analyze the difference of thinking skills of treatment (using Blended Project Based Learning) and control classes. This is a quasi-experimental study at new students of Biology Education. The thinking skills difference between treatment and control known through statistical test (SPSS). The results showed that there was difference in thinking skills (self-regulated, critical, and creative thinking) between treatment and control. Mean of self-regulated thinking of treatment (16.0) was higher than control (13.4). Mean of critical thinking of treatment (19.7) was higher than control (16.7). Mean of creative thinking of treatment (14.3) was higher than control (11.8)
Blended Project Based Learning: Metacognitive Awareness of Biology Education New Students
This study aims to analyse the difference of metacognitive awareness of treatment (using Blended Project Based Learning) and control class. This is a quasi-experimental research with Non-equivalent Control Group Design. This research was conducted at Department of Biology Education, University of Muhammadiyah Malang, in the first semester of the academic year 2014/2015. Metacognitive awareness of treatment class and control class was measured by using Metacognitive Awareness Inventory. Metacognitive awareness difference analysed with One-way ANOVA, processed with SPSS 22 for Windows. The results showed that there were difference Mean values in metacognitive awareness (knowledge about cognition and regulation of cognitive) between treatment and control. Mean value of treatment class was higher than control class. It means that Blended Project Based Learning effectively to develop and stimulation metacognitive awareness of new students (Biology teachers candidates)
Participation in Building Human Resources: Independent Strategies for Facing a Demographic Expansion in a Remote Island
This research was conducted to examine the strategies of residents in Sapeken (a remote island) in facing a demographic expansion, especially in terms of human resource development in improving the competitiveness of fishing communities. This study used the descriptive-qualitative method by collecting data through in-depth interviews and observation, as well as data tracking online and offline. This research used Arnstein participatory theory. It was found that the population density on this island exceeded the average population in large cities. Beside working as fishermen, many people maintain economic independence by becoming small and medium-level traders, especially home-based businesses. The incomes of the residents are used to contribute to the success of the implementation of education, both in the personal context to finance the education of families, and to provide charity to religious and public education institutions. Thus, education is the main factor in dealing with the demographic expansion. In the future, having faster leverage and stronger, and more intense synergy is needed among civil society, with the assistance of universities and local governments in accelerating the development of human resources. Community participation is at the level of a partnership, including in the degree of citizen power
PENERAPAN MODEL PROJECT BASED LEARNING UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KREATIVITAS DAN HASIL BELAJAR IPAS SISWA KELAS 4 SDN SUMBERSARI 2 KOTA MALANG
The low learning outcomes of students at school are influenced by the low creativity of students. This study aims to increase creativity and science learning outcomes in class IV through the Project Based Learning model. This type of research is classroom action research. Data collection techniques used in this study are observation, interviews, tests, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is descriptive qualitative. The subjects of this study were fourth grade students at SDN Sumbersari Malang City with a total of 24 students. The improvement obtained from this study was an increase in the percentage of students' creativity in science learning from 0% to 4.16% in cycle I and then to 33.33% in the very creative category. Then, in the creative category there was an increase in percentage from 16.67% to 29.16% in cycle I and to 58.33% in cycle II. In addition, there was a decrease in the percentage in the quite creative category from 29.20% to 20.83% in cycle I and to 8.33% in cycle II. Meanwhile, in the non-creative category, the percentage decreased from 54.20% to 25.00% in cycle I and to 4.16% in cycle II. The results of the study also showed an increase in student learning outcomes from 37.50% to 58.33% in cycle I and to 83.33% in cycle II. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the application of the Project Based Learning model is able to increase the creativity and learning outcomes of class IV students in science subjects
