    Research on the Impact of Wind Angles on the Residential Building Energy Consumption

    Wind angles affect building’s natural ventilation and also energy consumption of the building. In winter, the wind direction in the outdoor environment will affect heat loss of the building, while in summer the change of wind direction and speed in the outdoor environment will affect the building’s ventilation and indoor air circulation. So, making a good deal with the issue of the angle between local buildings and the dominant wind direction can effectively solve the winter and summer ventilation problems. Thereby, it can enhance the comfort of residential person, improve indoor air quality, solve heat gain and heat loss problems in winter and summer in the severely cold and cold regions, and reduce building energy consumption. The simulation software CFD and energy simulation software are used in the paper. South direction of the building is the prototype of the simulation. The angle between the direction of the building and the outdoor environment wind is changed sequentially. Energy consumption under different wind angle conditions is compared with each other. Combined with natural ventilation under various wind angles, the paper gives the best recommended solution of building direction in Shenyang

    Synthesis of a Flexible Freestanding Sulfur/Polyacrylonitrile/Graphene Oxide as the Cathode for Lithium/Sulfur Batteries

    Rechargeable lithium/sulfur (Li/S) batteries have received quite significant attention over the years because of their high theoretical specific capacity (1672 mAh g1) and energy density (2600 mAh g1) which has led to more efforts for improvement in their electrochemical performance. Herein, the synthesis of a flexible freestanding sulfur/polyacrylonitrile/graphene oxide (S/PAN/GO) as the cathode for Li/S batteries by simple method via vacuum filtration is reported. The S/PAN/GO hybrid binder-free electrode is considered as one of the most promising cathodes for Li/S batteries. Graphene oxide (GO) slice structure provides effective ion conductivity channels and increases structural stability of the ternary system, resulting in excellent electrochemical properties of the freestanding S/PAN/GO cathode. Additionally, graphene oxide (GO) membrane was able to minimize the polysulfides’ dissolution and their shuttle, which was attributed to the electrostatic interactions between the negatively-charged species and the oxygen functional groups on GO. Furthermore, these oxygen-containing functional groups including carboxyl, epoxide and hydroxyl groups provide active sites for coordination with inorganic materials (such as sulfur). It exhibits the initial reversible specific capacity of 1379 mAh g1 at a constant current rate of 0.2 C and maintains 1205 mAh g1 over 100 cycles (~87% retention). In addition, the freestanding S/PAN/GO cathode displays excellent coulombic efficiency (~100%) and rate capability, delivering up to 685 mAh g1 capacity at 2

    Establishing reference intervals of coagulation indices based on the ACL Top 700 system for children in Southwestern Fujian, China

    Abstract(#br)Background(#br)Till date, China has not issued industry standards for reference intervals (RIs) of pediatric blood coagulation indices. Here, we evaluated changes in the coagulation indices in the venous blood of healthy children aged 29 days to 12 years derived using the ACL Top 700 system and established appropriate RIs.(#br)Methods(#br)We analyzed venous blood from 1770 healthy children for five coagulation indices. RIs were established according to the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute C28-A3c guideline.(#br)Results(#br)The coagulation indices were grouped by age. For prothrombin time (PT) and international normalization ratio (INR), the RIs of infants and toddlers were identical; preschool children had the same RI as school-age children. Pediatric RIs for PT and INR were slightly lower than those for adults. The RIs of activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), thrombin time (TT), and fibrinogen (FIB) in childhood were divided into two groups by age (1 month to 1 year and 1–12 years). The RI of APTT in infants was the widest; the overall level of FIB in infants was the lowest; children’s APTT and FIB RIs were lower than those of adults. The pattern of TT values and RI trends in childhood were similar to those of APTT.(#br)Conclusions(#br)There were minor changes in the RIs of coagulation indices for children. The RIs of PT, INR, APTT, TT, and FIB must be grouped by age. The RIs of coagulation indices for children were different from those for adults; therefore, establishing separate RIs for children is necessary

    Identification and expression analysis of two Wnt4 genes in the spotted scat ( Scatophagus argus )

    Background: WNT4 is a protein that plays a crucial role in ovarian differentiation and development in mammals, with a relatively well understood function in mammalian gonadal differentiation. The role of Wnt4 in teleost fish; however, remains unclear. In the present study, cDNAs of Wnt4a and Wnt4b were cloned and characterized in the spotted scat. The expression patterns of two Wnt4 genes in the gonads at different stages of development and in fish after treatment with 17\u3b1-methyltestosterone (MT) were investigated. Results: The tissue distribution showed that Wnt4a was expressed in various tissues, including the gonads, gills, spleen, brain, and fin. Interestingly, Wnt4b not only was expressed in the gills, brain, and spleen, but also was obviously expressed in the ovary. During gonad development, Wnt4a was highly expressed in the testis at stage I and Wnt4b was mainly expressed in the ovary at stages II\u2013III. After MT treatment, the mRNA expression of Wnt4a increased significantly up to 40 d, and the transcript level of Wnt4b decreased at 20 d. Conclusions: These results suggest that Wnt4a may be involved in gonad development and plays a role in the process of spermatogonial proliferation. Our results also demonstrate that Wnt4b is not only expressed in the nervous system, but also in the ovary and it may be involved in ovary development of the spotted scat

    Correlative study on retinal microvascular changes and sex hormones in male patients with central serous chorioretinopathy

    Central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) is a disease in which the outer retinal barrier is damaged with high incidence in young adult males. We aimed to analyze the correlations between retinal microvascular changes and sex hormone levels. The vascular density of the superficial retinal capillary plexus (SCP), deep retinal capillary plexus (DCP), foveal avascular zone (FAZ) area, choriocapillary blood flow area, and the subfoveal choroidal thickness (SCT) were investigated by optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA). We also determined the levels of sex hormones (adrenaline (AD), norepinephrine (NE), dopamine (DA), corticosteroids (Cor), aldosterone (ALD), estradiol (E2) and total testosterone (TT)). The relationship between sex hormone levels and OCTA parameters was then determined. We detected significantly higher levels of NE, Cor and TT in serum from the observation group than in the control group (p < 0.05). Significant correlations were identified between SCT and choriocapillary blood flow area in the affected eyes, contralateral eyes and healthy eyes in the control group (p < 0.05). SCT levels of both eyes in the observation group were higher and the choriocapillary blood flow area was smaller than in the control group. The SCT in affected eyes from the observation group were higher than the contralateral eyes (p < 0.05). The choriocapillary blood flow area was significantly smaller than in the contralateral eyes (p < 0.05). Correlation analysis unveiled that NE, Cor and TT levels were positively correlated with SCT in CSC patients and negatively correlated with choriocapillary blood flow area (p < 0.05). The serum levels of sex hormone levels in male CSC patients were different from those in healthy men of the same age. Our findings suggest that the serum levels of NE, Cor and TT levels may influence the pathogenesis of CSC by affecting SCT thickness and choriocapillary blood flow
