    Abstract . In dieser Kandidatenarbeit werden die Teeverpackungen von Meßmer analysiert. Eine Verpackung spielt eine wichtige Rolle in der Vermarktung eines Produkts. Es hat eine informierende und werbende Funktion: es soll den Inhalt eines Produkts kommunizieren und die Kaufentscheidung des Konsumenten beeinflussen. Das Ziel in der vorliegenden Arbeit ist es zu beantworten, was für sprachliche und visuelle Elemente in den Verpackungen verwendet werden und was ihre Funktion ist. Die der Arbeit zugrunde liegende Hypothese ist, dass die Verpackungen der Informationsfunktion und vor allem der Werbefunktion dienen. Um die Forschungsfrage beantworten zu können wurden die Verpackungen mithilfe einer sprachwissenschaftlich-funktionale Analysemodell untersucht. Sowohl die sprachlichen und die visuellen Elemente als auch die kommunizierten Themen werden erforscht. Letztendlich werden die Elemente zu der Informations- und zur Werbefunktion zugeordnet. Die Behauptung, dass die Verpackungen Informations- und Werbefunktion enthalten, wird in dieser Untersuchung bestätigt. Die Untersuchung zeigt jedoch, dass es problematisch ist, die Elemente auf den Verpackungen entweder zu der Informations- oder der Appellfunktion zuzuordnen, weil es eine Vermischung der Funktionen sein kann

    Treatment of keloid scars with intralesional triamcinolone and 5-fluorouracil injections - a randomized controlled trial

    Keloids have high recurrence rates. Current first-line therapy is triamcinolone (TAC) injection, but it has been suggested that approximately 50% of keloids are steroid resistant. We compared the efficacy of intralesional 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) and triamcinalone injections in a double-blind randomized controlled trial. Forty-three patients with 50 keloid scars were treated with either intralesional TAC or 5-FU-injections over 6 months. There was no statistically significant difference in the remission rate at 6 months between the 5-FU and TAC groups (46% vs 60%, respectively). Local adverse effects were higher in the TAC group compared to the 5-FU group. Occurrence of skin atrophy in TAC group was 44% and in the 5-FU group 8% (p <0.05). Also the occurrence of telangiectasia in the TAC group was 50% and in the 5-FU 21% (p <0.05). Vascularity of the keloids, assessed by spectral imaging and immunohistochemical staining for blood vessels, after treatment decreased in the TAC group, but not in the 5-FU group (p <0.05). Fibroblast proliferation evaluated by Ki-67 staining significantly decreased in the TAC group (p <0.05) but increased in the 5-FU group (p <0.05). TAC and 5-FU injections did not differ in their clinical effectivity in this randomized study, but 5-FU injections lead to increased proliferation rate and did not affect vascular density in histological assessment. Due to the greater number of adverse effects observed after TAC treatment, 5-FU injections may be preferable for cosmetically sensitive skin areas.     Season is related to the slow wave and sigma activity of infants and toddlers

    Objective/Background: Slow wave activity (SWA) and sigma frequency activity (SFA) are hallmarks of NREM sleep EEG and important indicators of neural plasticity, development of the central nervous system, and cognition. However, little is known about the factors that modulate these sleep EEG activities, especially in small children. Patients/methods: We analyzed the power spectral densities of SWA (1e4 Hz) and SFA range (10e15 Hz) from six EEG derivations of 56 infants (8 months) and 60 toddlers (24 months) during their all-night sleep and during the first and the last half of night sleep. The spectral values were compared between the four seasons. Results: In the spring group of infants, compared with the darker seasons, SFA was lower in the centrooccipital EEG derivations during both halves of the night. The SWA findings of the infants were restricted to the last half of the night (SWA2) and frontally, where SWA2 was higher during winter than spring. The toddlers presented less frontal SWA2 during winter compared with autumn. Both age groups showed a reduction in both SWA and SFA towards the last half of the night. Conclusions: The sleep EEG spectral power densities are more often associated with seasons in infants’ SFA range. The results might stem from seasonally changing light exposure, but the exact mechanism warrants further study. Moreover, contrary to the adult-like increment of SFA, the SFA at both ages was lower at the last part of the night sleep. This suggests different regulation of spindle activity in infants and toddlers.Peer reviewe

    Aim: Specific questionnaires about food allergy and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) have been developed and validated in several languages, but not Finnish. We aimed to validate the Finnish Food Allergy Quality of Life Questionnaire-Parent Form (FAQLQ-PF) for children under age 13 years.Methods: The original FAQLQ-PF and Food Allergy Independent Measure (FAIM) were translated into Finnish per World Health Organisation guidelines and tested by 72 parents of children under age 13 years with suspected severe peanut or tree nut allergy who were recruited at Allergy Centre in Tampere University Hospital in Tampere, Finland. We calculated the construct validity of the questionnaire by calculating the coefficients between the two measures and used Cronbach's alpha to establish the internal consistency.Results: The FAQLQ-PF showed strong correlations with domain structure and internal consistency, based on Spearman's correlations (rho) for the HRQoL questions, FAIM questions and FAIM mean values. The total questionnaire score correlated significantly with the mean FAIM (rho = 0.95, p &lt; 0.001) and individual FAIM questions. The FAQLQ-PF and domains had good or excellent internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha &gt;0.70).Conclusion: The Finnish FAQLQ-PF demonstrated good construct validity and excellent internal consistency for measuring food allergy HRQoL in children under age 13 years.</p

    Fermionic microstates within Painlev\'e-Gullstrand black hole

    We consider the quantum vacuum of fermionic field in the presence of a black-hole background as a possible candidate for the stabilized black hole. The stable vacuum state (as well as thermal equilibrium states with arbitrary temperature) can exist if we use the Painlev\'e-Gullstrand description of the black hole, and the superluminal dispersion of the particle spectrum at high energy, which is introduced in the free-falling frame. Such choice is inspired by the analogy between the quantum vacuum and the ground state of quantum liquid, in which the event horizon for the low-energy fermionic quasiparticles also can arise. The quantum vacuum is characterized by the Fermi surface, which appears behind the event horizon. We do not consider the back reaction, and thus there is no guarantee that the stable black hole exists. But if it does exist, the Fermi surface behind the horizon would be the necessary attribute of its vacuum state. We also consider exact discrete spectrum of fermions inside the horizon which allows us to discuss the problem of fermion zero modes.Comment: LaTeX, 20 pages, 2 figure
