Ground States for a nonlinear Schr\"odinger system with sublinear coupling terms

We study the existence of ground states for the coupled Schr\"odinger system \begin{equation} \left\{\begin{array}{lll} \displaystyle -\Delta u_i+\lambda_i u_i= \mu_i |u_i|^{2q-2}u_i+\sum_{j\neq i}b_{ij} |u_j|^q|u_i|^{q-2}u_i \\ u_i\in H^1(\mathbb{R}^n), \quad i=1,\ldots, d, \end{array}\right. \end{equation} n1n\geq 1, for λi,μi>0\lambda_i,\mu_i >0, bij=bji>0b_{ij}=b_{ji}>0 (the so-called "symmetric attractive case") and 1<q<n/(n2)+1<q<n/(n-2)^+. We prove the existence of a nonnegative ground state (u1,,ud)(u_1^*,\ldots,u_d^*) with uiu_i^* radially decreasing. Moreover we show that, for 1<q<21<q<2, such ground states are positive in all dimensions and for all values of the parameters

Phronesis and the control of public administration acts in brazilian legal system

    Get PDF
This article considers the Brazilian Legal System and the requirements of an act performed by public administration. To do so, it presents six main chapters. The first one considers Brazilian Constitution as it regards State form, legal and judicial systems. The second chapter presents the public administration stated in the Constitution. The requirements of a public administration act are presented in the third chapter. The improbity law, which determines how public administration acts should be performed, is presented on the fourth chapter. How one of the main judicial courts of Brazil has understood this law is the topic of the fifth chapter. The sixth chapter presents a proposal of how could be Phronesis used to solve misunderstandings about improbity in the Brazilian Legal System

Bacteriophage-derived enzymes: from exploration to exploitation

    Get PDF
Book of Abstracts of CEB Annual Meeting 2017[Excerpt] Bacteriophages are viruses infecting bacterial cells. During their replication cycle, these viruses cross the bacterial cell wall twice. Firstly, bacteriophages have to inject their genome across the cell wall to initiate infection. Secondly, they must exit the host cell at the end of the replication cycle to infect new host cells. The principal barrier to overcome is the polysaccharides that can either be extracellular (slime or capsules) or structural (peptidoglycan). For this, bacteriophages encode two specific enzymes, called depolymerases and endolysins, to degrade these polymers to enable either infection or lysis. [...]info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Health education projects in Portuguese schools: A multicases study

    Get PDF
Health education projects (HEP) incorporate all the educational projects of the Portuguese elementary and secondary schools in order to respond to four key areas: mental health and violence prevention; food education and physical activity; addictive behaviors and dependencies; and affection and sexuality education. This study aimed at identifying the effects of HEP as they are perceived by teachers and students. A multicase study was developed in five schools in the municipality of Castelo Branco, Portugal. The sample consisted of a HEP coordinating teacher and one student from each case. The content analysis of each HEP was performed and semi-structured interviews were conducted with the participants. The analysis of the information showed that HEPs induce positive changes in the educational community lifestyle, and especially in students. Despite this positive view, targeted areas were diagnosed for optimization processes in each of the four dimensions of the HEPs being studied. This allowed the different projects to qualitatively improve their performance among the target audience. The investigations acknowledged the lack of instruments and methodologies able to record the behavioral changes developed within the scope of health education (HE) while simultaneously stimulating reflection on these behavioral changes and their causes

Does Speculation Affect Oil Price Volatiliy?

Practical work in science education: a systematic literature review

Practical work has taken a leading role in science teaching, particularly since the 1960s. Its goals are mainly oriented toward the development of sensitivity and taste for the study of physical and natural phenomena, bringing students closer to the daily reality experienced by researchers working in these areas of knowledge, while promoting educational success. However, these purposes have not always been achieved so, over time, limitations to the way that practical work has been developed have also been identified. In order to recognize the current state of the art on the development of the practical work in the teaching of sciences, a systematic literature review was designed, especially focused on the definition of the concept of practical work, its advantages, evaluation methodologies, and the criticism/limitations attributed to its implementation. To this end, four databases and one aggregator were used, to identify 53 international scientific publications. Analysis of this corpus allowed the identification of 8 categories associated to the concept of practical work, 5 categories associated to its advantages, 6 categories with the types/methodologies of evaluation and 5 categories associated with the limitations of this methodology. (From this analysis) it is concluded that most authors considers that the main idea integrative idea of the concept of practical work should be the manipulation of materials in practical activities (hands-on style), and the main advantage of this methodology comes from the fusion between the development of practical skills and the conceptual understanding (minds-on). In the evaluation methods, the context, procedures and specific instruments are favored and the main limitation pointed to this methodology is that the way practical work is implemented, is often not in agreement with the methods and techniques used by scientists and researchers
