Baby Boomers\u27 Feelings on the Relationship Between Price and Quality

This thesis will focus on the study of Baby Boomers and the impact their particular generation has upon the type of products they purchase. Marketing research has indicated that generational data can be very helpful. Generational factors provide a framework for understanding the marketplace. Many marketers who want to appeal to Baby Boomers attempt to recognize what interests Boomers. A fundamental truth is that marketers who take into account age group have an important competitive advantage over those who do not. Research has also indicated that Baby Boomers show some loyalty to brand names. They look at quality as a status symbol, and purchase accordingly. Many Boomers have a large amount of disposable income and equity. They recognize that many quality products cost a premium and are willing and able to pay that extra cost. The purpose of the present study is to investigate Baby Boomers and their responses on the relationship between a product\u27s price and quality. Specifically, the survey instrument\u27s purpose is to calculate, through data analysis, the possibility of a positive correlation between price and quality in the eyes of Baby Boomers. Forty-nine persons of working age participated in the study. Among the survey respondents, fifty-five percent were male, and forty-five percent were female. The subjects were of aJI ages. Specifically, fifty-five percent of the respondents qualified as Baby Boomers. In order to prove or disprove the hypothesis, a survey instrument was administered on an anonymous level. The survey consisted of thirty questions, divided by product category. The data were analyzed using Pearson\u27s Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient. It is the most popular technique in data analysis. Results of the analysis produced evidence that the hypothesis could be supported. However, a positive correlation was also calculated for the other subjects, those not part of the Baby Boomer generation

On the importance of long-term functional assessment after stroke to improve translation from bench to bedside

Despite extensive research efforts in the field of cerebral ischemia, numerous disappointments came from the translational step. Even if experimental studies showed a large number of promising drugs, most of them failed to be efficient in clinical trials. Based on these reports, factors that play a significant role in causing outcome differences between animal experiments and clinical trials have been identified; and latest works in the field have tried to discard them in order to improve the scope of the results. Nevertheless, efforts must be maintained, especially for long-term functional evaluations. As observed in clinical practice, animals display a large degree of spontaneous recovery after stroke. The neurological impairment, assessed by basic items, typically disappears during the firsts week following stroke in rodents. On the contrary, more demanding sensorimotor and cognitive tasks underline other deficits, which are usually long-lasting. Unfortunately, studies addressing such behavioral impairments are less abundant. Because the characterization of long-term functional recovery is critical for evaluating the efficacy of potential therapeutic agents in experimental strokes, behavioral tests that proved sensitive enough to detect long-term deficits are reported here. And since the ultimate goal of any stroke therapy is the restoration of normal function, an objective appraisal of the behavioral deficits should be done

internationalization strategies and policies in second tier higher education institutions

This study addresses the major objectives and challenges in the internationalization processes of second-tier higher education institutions. We use the examples of universities of applied sciences in the Netherlands, academic colleges in Israel, and community colleges in Canada to offer a global perspective regarding the internationalization efforts in these types of institutions. Through comprehensive comparative analysis of secondary sources, we identify the trends taking place within these types of higher education institutions in these countries. We find that second-tier institutions tend not to have solidified for themselves tailored internationalization approaches and strategies that are uniquely fitting to their own missions, aims and student populations. This oversight creates a situation whereby such institutions, despite their culturally diverse student populations and the promise they hold to create a unique niche within internationalization discourse, fail to utilize the potential inherent in targeted internationalization strategies

On the dual of Orlicz-Lorentz space

A description of the Köthe dual of the Orlicz-Lorentz space Λφ,ω generated by an Orlicz function φ and a regular weight function w is presented. It is also shown that in the case of separable Orlicz-Lorentz spaces the regularity condition on w is necessary and sufficient for the coincidence of the Banach dual space with the described Köthe dual space
