How do firms in strategic emerging industries influence their peers’ innovation strategies?
Drawing on signaling theory, peer effect, and the awarenessmotivation-capability (AMC) framework, we examine the role of
strategic emerging industries (SEI) firms in raising the awareness
and motivation of non-SEI firms’ R&D activities, including gaining
government R&D subsidies and adopting internal R&D investment, while considering the moderate effect of non-SEI firms’ capability factor. Based on the data of Chinese listed firms from SEI
and non-SEI, the empirical results reveal that (a) the number of
SEI firms funded by government R&D has an inverted U-shape
relationship with the amount that non-SEI firms gain from government R&D subsidies, and has a positive relationship with the
investment of non-SEI firms on internal R&D. (b) The financial performance of SEI firms funded by government R&D motivates nonSEI firms to gain government R&D subsidies and invest in internal
R&D. (c) These relationships are strengthened by the relative scale
of the non-SEI firms
Research on Two-stage Rotary Compressor with Refrigerant Injection for Cold Climate Heat Pump
As an promising heating application of environmental conservation and energy conservation, air-source heat pump systems has been spreading. However, conventional heat pump systems have problems remaining, such as inadequate heating capacity and reduced performance under low environmental temperature condition. To solve these problems, we developed a two-stage rotary compressor for household R32 air-source heat pump system. We analyzed the thermodynamic characteristics of two-stage rotary compressor with refrigerant injection used in heat pump system with economizer. It is found that the two-stage rotary compressor can enhance heating capacity and performance of R32 heat pump under cold climate markedly

Therapeutic Effects of TianDiJingWan on the A β
The main purpose of this study was to demonstrate the therapeutic effects and mechanism of TDJW, a modern Chinese medicine prescription developed based on the basic traditional Chinese medicine theory of “tonifying the kidney essence,” on the Aβ25–35-induced AD rats. The AD model was established by the intracerebroventricular administrations of Aβ25–35 into the hippocampus CA1 tissue of SD male rats. 72 rats were randomly divided into six groups: sham operation, AD model, donepezil, high TDJW group, medium TDJW group, and low TDJW group. After oral administration of TDJW, the results of Morris water maze and step-down test showed that the learning and memory abilities of AD rats were significantly improved. And biochemical measurement demonstrated that Ach and Glu in hippocampus tissues of AD rats were increased as well. Moreover, the Aβ deposits and p-Tau aggregations in hippocampus CA1 tissues of AD rats were attenuated as observed in the micrographs of immunohistochemistry study, and the results of ELISA indicated that the expressions of TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6 in hippocampus tissues were significantly decreased. In conclusion, the present study demonstrated that TDJW could be used as a promising therapeutic agent for the clinical applications of AD treatment in patients
The Airlines’ Recent Experience Under the Railway Labor Act
Silky-feather has been selected and fixed in some breeds due to its unique appearance. This phenotype is caused by a single recessive gene (hookless, h). Here we map the silky-feather locus to chromosome 3 by linkage analysis and subsequently fine-map it to an 18.9 kb interval using the identical by descent (IBD) method. Further analysis reveals that a C to G transversion located upstream of the prenyl (decaprenyl) diphosphate synthase, subunit 2 (PDSS2) gene is causing silky-feather. All silky-feather birds are homozygous for the G allele. The silky-feather mutation significantly decreases the expression of PDSS2 during feather development in vivo. Consistent with the regulatory effect, the C to G transversion is shown to remarkably reduce PDSS2 promoter activity in vitro. We report a new example of feather structure variation associated with a spontaneous mutation and provide new insight into the PDSS2 function
