    Get PDF
Erythroderma is a scaly, erythematous dermatitis of the skin, which occurs in drug allergy, malignancy and underlying skin disorders. The diagnosis is challenging because the extent of skin involvement does not always correlate with the extent of internal organ involvement. Therefore, early recognition of symptoms is vital to minimize morbidity and mortality. Case report: A 52 years old man had asymptomatic hyperuricemia and prescribed allopurinol 300mg, daily. One month later, the rashes started to appear on his trunk and then progressed to the face and upper limbs. Then it continued to spread to the lower extremities. Management involves prompt cessation of the culprit drug, administration of corticosteroids and supportive treatment. It is Concluded that Allopurinol is commonly used in clinical practice for the treatment of symptomatic hyperuricemia and gout. It has been associated with erythroderma especially when used indiscriminately

This cross-sectional study investigated the relationship between the aminolevulinate dehydrogenase (ALAD) genotype and blood lead levels among 101 Japanese workers. Blood lead concentration measurement, biomarkers, and genotyping were performed. The minor allele frequency (MAF) for ALAD (ALAD2) was 0.08. Although the blood lead level in the subjects with heterozygous GC genotype was significantly higher than those with homozygous GG genotype, there were no significant differences for hemoglobin, hematocrit, serum and urinary ALA levels among genotypes. ALAD2 genotype was significantly associated with the blood lead concentration, even in the environmental lead exposed subjects. Further confirmation with a large sample size is needed

BACKGROUND: Burma records the highest number of malaria deaths in southeast Asia and may represent a reservoir of infection for its neighbors, but the burden of disease and magnitude of transmission among border populations of Burma remains unknown. METHODS: Plasmodium falciparum (Pf) parasitemia was detected using a HRP-II antigen based rapid test (Paracheck-Pf(R)). Pf prevalence was estimated from screenings conducted in 49 villages participating in a malaria control program, and four retrospective mortality cluster surveys encompassing a sampling frame of more than 220,000. Crude odds ratios were calculated to evaluate Pf prevalence by age, sex, and dry vs. rainy season. RESULTS: 9,796 rapid tests were performed among 28,410 villagers in malaria program areas through four years (2003: 8.4%, 95% CI: 8.3 - 8.6; 2004: 7.1%, 95% CI: 6.9 - 7.3; 2005:10.5%, 95% CI: 9.3 - 11.8 and 2006: 9.3%, 95% CI: 8.2 - 10.6). Children under 5 (OR = 1.99; 95% CI: 1.93 - 2.06) and those 5 to 14 years (OR = 2.24, 95% CI: 2.18 - 2.29) were more likely to be positive than adults. Prevalence was slightly higher among females (OR = 1.04, 95% CI: 1.02 - 1.06) and in the rainy season (OR = 1.48, 95% CI: 1.16 - 1.88). Among 5,538 rapid tests conducted in four cluster surveys, 10.2% were positive (range 6.3%, 95% CI: 3.9 - 8.8; to 12.4%, 95% CI: 9.4 - 15.4). CONCLUSION: Prevalence of plasmodium falciparum in conflict areas of eastern Burma is higher than rates reported among populations in neighboring Thailand, particularly among children. This population serves as a large reservoir of infection that contributes to a high disease burden within Burma and likely constitutes a source of infection for neighboring regions

Advance of a road traffic light control system using Programmable Logic Controller is the principal of the system. This system can be divided into two parts which are hardware and software. The hardware part for this system is a model of four -way junction of a traffic light. The Red, Yellow and Green are installed at each lane to represent as a traffic light signal indicator. This switches and lamps are linked to PLC. The PLC receives signal which is coming from the inputs (sensor and switch) and drives the units (lamps or relays). In the system, Siemens s7-200 PLC is used as the main controller of the traffic light system. The Step7 Micro Win software can be developed the ladder logic diagram which can control the traffic light for proposed system. So, the traffic light system can be successfully controlled by PLC

The world is relying on the fossil fuels for energy .These fuels are finite resources and gradually they would reach their ends. The importance of renewable energy plays a significant role today. Replacing the fuel dependent transportation with renewable and clean energy transportation would effectively save the fuels as well as the world from the climate changing, emission of greenhouse gases and other environment crisis. This project exploded the dedicated solar charging systems for electric vehicle (EV) batteries at houses. This report proposed two patterns of solar EV batteries charging systems. In System I, solar energy is stored in the storage battery bank during day time and the EV battery is charged at night. In System II, the owner needs to have two sets of EV battery for battery swap charging. One of the EV batteries is charged via charging system during the day time while the latter is consumed and vice versa. This report also studied the drawbacks of both charging systems and possible variable parameters to achieve the feasible charging system. The most feasible system was also recommended and concluded.Bachelor of Engineerin

The main purpose of this study is to examine the relationship of teacher effectiveness and attitude towards teaching profession and to compare the attitude of effective and ineffective teachers towards teaching profession. In this study questionnaire survey method was employed. The subjects were confined to the teachers(Senior Teacher, Junior Teacher and Primary Teacher) from Basic Education High Schools and Basic Education High Schools (Branch) in Waingmaw Township. The number of participants in this study was 322. Two research instruments, questionnaire for teacher effectiveness and questionnaire for attitude towards teaching profession were used in this study. These instruments were based on Teacher Effectiveness Scale developed by Kumar and Muthaand Attitude Towards Teaching Scale by Sujata Mishra. The values of Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of the two questionnaires were 0.93 and 0.87 respectively. Pearson correlation coefficient and the independent t-test were applied to analyze each research hypothesis. The results reveal that teacher effectiveness correlates positively with attitude towards teaching profession. The results also show that there was significant difference between effective and ineffective teachers in relation to their attitudes towards teaching profession. Furthermore, the results show that effective teachers do not differ in their attitude towards teaching profession in terms of gender and experience. Like effective teachers, ineffective teachers do not differ in their attitude towards teaching regarding gender and experience
