Stress and depression among veterinary medical students
While existing literature suggests that professional students (e.g., medical, dental, law, nursing, etc.) experience high levels of stress and depression, the experiences of veterinary medical students have been less well examined. The purpose of this study was to explore the levels of stress and depression among veterinary medical students and to examine the relationship between these variables. Study participants were 1,245 veterinary medical students from North America. The findings provide support for the assertion that veterinary medical students experience high levels of stress and depression. Results also indicated that there is a correlation between stress and depression for veterinary medical students and that female students experience higher levels of stress and depression than their male counterparts.Accepted manuscrip
The intersection of race, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, trans identity, and mental health outcomes
The present study examined patterns in trans individuals’ multiple identities and mental health outcomes. Cluster 1 (socioeconomic and racial privilege; n = 239) was characterized by individuals who identified as trans women or cross-dressers, lesbian, bisexual, or questioning; had associates degrees; reported household incomes of 10,000 or less a year; and were people of color. There was a pattern of individuals in Cluster 1 who identified with two privileged identities (identifying as White and having higher household incomes), whereas individuals in Cluster 2 identified only formal education as a privilege. Individuals in Cluster 2 reported statistically significant levels of anxiety. Implications of these results for future research and clinical practice are examined.Accepted manuscrip
The oxanorbornene approach to 3-hydroxy, 3,4-dihydroxy and 3,4,5-trihydroxy derivatives of 2-aminocyclohexanecarboxylic acid
The nitro oxanorbornene adduct derived from the Diels-Alder reaction of ethyl (E)-3-nitroacrylate and furan provides a versatile template for the stereoselective synthesis of hydroxylated derivatives of 2-aminocyclohexanecarboxylic acid (ACHC)
Stoke-on-Trent: a geological background for planning and development
This study, carried out between 1988 and 1990, was commissioned by the Department of the Environment (DOE)
and funded jointly by the Department and the British
Geological Survey (BGS). Its main aim was to make a synthesis of geological data relevant to planning of land-use and development in the Stoke-on-Trent area. This report is specifically written for planners and there has been an
attempt to avoid complex geological terms. Besides text
illustrations the report includes ten thematic maps at a common scale of 1 :25 000. An additional volume concentrates
on engineering geology for site investigation companies.
Seven further short reports feature geological details of separate 1: 10 000 sheets, couched in more technical language

Algebraic totality, towards completeness
Finiteness spaces constitute a categorical model of Linear Logic (LL) whose
objects can be seen as linearly topologised spaces, (a class of topological
vector spaces introduced by Lefschetz in 1942) and morphisms as continuous
linear maps. First, we recall definitions of finiteness spaces and describe
their basic properties deduced from the general theory of linearly topologised
spaces. Then we give an interpretation of LL based on linear algebra. Second,
thanks to separation properties, we can introduce an algebraic notion of
totality candidate in the framework of linearly topologised spaces: a totality
candidate is a closed affine subspace which does not contain 0. We show that
finiteness spaces with totality candidates constitute a model of classical LL.
Finally, we give a barycentric simply typed lambda-calculus, with booleans
and a conditional operator, which can be interpreted in this
model. We prove completeness at type for
every n by an algebraic method
Kang-Redner Anomaly in Cluster-Cluster Aggregation
The large time, small mass, asymptotic behavior of the average mass
distribution \pb is studied in a -dimensional system of diffusing
aggregating particles for . By means of both a renormalization
group computation as well as a direct re-summation of leading terms in the
small reaction-rate expansion of the average mass distribution, it is shown
that \pb \sim \frac{1}{t^d} (\frac{m^{1/d}}{\sqrt{t}})^{e_{KR}} for , where and . In two
dimensions, it is shown that \pb \sim \frac{\ln(m) \ln(t)}{t^2} for . Numerical simulations in two dimensions supporting the analytical
results are also presented.Comment: 11 pages, 6 figures, Revtex
