O âSelfieâ! O Narcissus: The Mythologico-cultural Imposition of Late-capitalistic Tools in the Present Digital World
The paper propounds that the late-capitalistic tools were imposed in the once-colonialized countries through establishing a myth in the arena of Cell phones The paper taking only individual selfies into account endeavours to discover how a selfie a photograph that one has taken of oneself typically one taken with a Smartphone or webcam and shared via social media is being used by some Late-capitalistic powers or some multinational companies organizations to promote the narcissistic idea of beauty in order to run their products in the marke
The Behavioralist Visits the Factory: Increasing Productivity Using Simple Framing Manipulations
Recent discoveries in behavioral economics have led to important new insights concerning what can happen in markets. Such gains in knowledge have come primarily via laboratory experimentsâa missing piece of the puzzle in many cases is parallel evidence drawn from naturally-occurring field counterparts. We provide a small movement in this direction by taking advantage of a unique opportunity to work with a Chinese high-tech manufacturing facility. Our study revolves around using insights gained from one of the most influential lines of behavioral researchâframing manipulationsâin an attempt to increase worker productivity in the facility. Using a natural field experiment, we report several insights. For example, conditional incentives framed as both âlossesâ and âgainsâ increase productivity for both individuals and teams. In addition, teams more acutely respond to bonuses posed as losses than as comparable bonuses posed as gains. The magnitude of the effect is roughly 1%: that is, total team productivity is enhanced by 1% purely due to the framing manipulation. Importantly, we find that neither the framing nor the incentive effect lose their importance over time; rather the effects are observed over the entire sample period. Moreover, we learn that worker reputation and conditionality of the bonus contract are substitutes for sustenance of incentive effects in the long-run production function.
Auctioneers as Market Makers: Managing Momentum in Chittagong Tea Auctions
In an auction market, the auctioneer exerts significant influence in choosing and administering a selling strategy. We make the case for viewing the auctioneer as a market maker, whose success depends on how well he manages externalities without jeopardizing the trust of the buyers and sellers. We illustrate that incentives of the market maker may not be aligned with that of individual sellers. Using a unique data set, from tea auctions in Chittagong, Bangladesh, we argue that an auctioneerâs actions maintain a careful balance of his own incentives vs. those of his clients, and the auction outcomes are affected by how much discretion the auctioneer has in choosing the selling strategy. Specifically, we find that raising the reserve price for a lot exerts a positive price externality on subsequent lots within the auction. To manage the momentum of market prices, the auctioneer chooses higher reserve prices for tea produced by tea estates in which he has an ownership stake. While these teas receive a higher price when sold, they sell less frequently creating a short run cost to the auctioneer but an overall positive impact on market prices. Thus, consistent with the role of a market maker, a desire to appear non-opportunistic, rather than opportunism, seems to better explain the auctioneerâs actions
Evaluation of Job Offers Using The Evidential Reasoning Approach
The word 2018;Job2019; term as a regular activity performed in exchange for payment is considered as one of the most important activities for many families worldwide .Evaluation is necessary when more than one opportunity come to an To fulfill their desired goal, it is the 2018;evaluation2019; which assesses among the factors. In addition, it is difficult to measure qualitative factors in a quantitative way, resulting incomplete-ness in data and hence, uncertainty. Besides it is essential to address the subject of uncertainty by using apt methodology; otherwise, the decision to choose a job will become inapt. There exist many methods name as Analytical Hierarchical Process (AHP), Analytical Network Process (ANP) and so on. But the mentioned methods are not suitable to address the subject of uncertainty and hence, resulting inappropriate selection to the expecting job. Therefore, this paper demonstrates the application of a novel method named Evidential Reasoning (ER), which is capable of addressing the uncertainty of multi-criterion problem, where there exist factors of both subjective and objective nature. The ER method handles uncertainties by using a belief structure is aggregating degrees of belief from lower level factors to higher level factors
Maybe I Should Just Stay Home
We model decisions to apply for a job or admission, attend an audition, or run for office as costly entry in contests where the outcomes solely depend on entrants' talent or ability. Player ability is privately known and players generically differ in commonly-known characteristics such as ability distributions, entry costs, or payoffs from winning. Any infinitesimal difference in these characteristics leads to wildly different equilibrium entry probabilities. Minute differences in characteristics imply large dispersions in representation even in a pure meritocracy. We can improve social welfare by handicapping advantaged players or by surcharging advantaged players to subsidize disadvantaged players
Development of a Framework for More Effective Implementation of Total Quality Management Principles in Apparel Manufacturing
The purpose of this paper is to develop a model or framework of total quality management (TQM) implementation in Textile and RMG industry. Textile and RMG Industry is an important sector for Bangladesh in terms of industrial expansion of the country, earning foreign currency and creating job opportunities. However, it faces subtle problems due to labor unrest, political instability and ownerâs ignorance. TQM is an approach that focuses on customer satisfaction. Therefore, implementation of TQM is a challenging task. Through a self-administrative survey from 50 Industries of textile and RMG industry in Bangladesh data have been collected. This paper identifies ten key factors of TQM implementation in the Textile and RMG Industry in Bangladesh. These are Leadership, Communication, Strategic Quality Planning, Training, Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Improvement, Employee Involvement & Satisfaction, Culture, Supplier Satisfaction and Teamwork

Truth, Honesty, and Strategic Interactions
We experimentally investigate how introducing the concept of truth in the natural context of a game affects player behavior using two games. Two players simultaneously make reimbursement claims for a damaged product, where players' payoffs depend only on their claims but not on the true price. Both games are dominance-solvable, and one of them has a strictly dominant strategy equilibrium, which many participants easily identified. Yet, claims in our experiments are significantly affected by the price. Analyzing the role of truth on participants' choices, we show that one needs strategic considerations and preferences for honesty to explain the results
