    HOW DO SOCIO-DEMOGRAPHIC CHARACTERISTICS INFLUENCE THE PROBABILITY OF FINANCIAL INCLUSION? EVIDENCE FROM A TRANSITIONAL ECONOMY

    Financial inclusion can be understood as the provision of financial services in a convenient and appropriate way to meet the needs of society, help vulnerable groups have opportunities, and promote sustainable economic growth. This study uses a probit regression model with 200 observations collected from November 1 to December 31, 2019, to examine how socio-demographic characteristics influence the probability of financial inclusion in Vietnam. The results show that human capital, education, and living in urban areas increase personal financial inclusion, while age has an inverse relationship with financial inclusion. Based on the analysis results, we recommend some solutions to promote financial inclusion, especially by applying financial technology and supplying more services to Vietnamese people

    Customers Accounting Usage and Organizational Performance: The Mediating Role of Customers Accounting

    Purpose: The study aims to examine the mediating role of customer accounting information used in the relationship between the intensity of competition, marketing orientation, customer accounting, and operational performance in the case of Vietnamese enterprises.   Theoretical framework:   The research model is inherited from Guilding and McManus (2002), Gupta and Lehmann (2003), and Pfeifer et al. (2005) about the usefulness of customer accounting information to business operational performance.   Design/methodology/approach: The data were collected by using a questionnaire sent to Vietnamese accountants and business managers by email. 324 valid questionnaires were analyzed in this study. The data were analyzed using the structural equation model (SEM).   Findings: The results have shown a positive impact between market orientation and the competitive intensity of enterprises on the use of customer accounting information. The research also indicates that customer accounting information and the perceived benefits of using customer accounting information can support the development of business strategies to help enterprises achieve outstanding efficiency.   Research, Practical & Social Implications: The research evaluated the impact of the use of customer accounting on the performance of companies with the intermediary role of customer accountants with the intensity of competition, market orientation, and the performance of enterprises. Based on the results, some solutions are proposed to apply customer accounting in Vietnamese enterprises to improve operational performance.   Originality/value: The originality of this research is the role model of customer accounting information used as a mediator of the influence of customer accounting information usage on organizational performance. These findings can be helpful for Vietnamese enterprises to use customer accounting information to improve their business performance

    Port Logistics Integration: Challenges and ‎Approaches

    The competitiveness of a seaport highly depends on its efficiency especially in terms of logistics practices, functions and activities and how all that is integrated with those of the other players in the supply chain.Despite the well-articulated importance of ports and terminals in integrated logistics, research on the success factors of port logistics integration remains scattered. The objective of this paper is to provide a review of the literature and based on this; provide an insight into how seaports and terminals may improve their logistics integration. A structured analysis of 78 papers published in Scopus indexed journals in logistics, supply chain and port management during the period 2000-2018 is conducted. A multidimensional conceptual framework for port logistics integration is proposed to incorporate the role of the three infrastructural variables emerging from the recent developments in the port logistics environment. The literature review has found the logistics process and operations, information integration, value-added services, and logistics practices being influential factors in logistics integration. Based on the research discussion and conclusion which is drawn from the literature review offer a basis for future research, both in respect of research approaches, concept definition and the select of theoretical foundation. The framework could be more detailed on each factor and consider actors perspective. Further testing and examination of the framework are needed for the validity of the results. This study questioned current literature in port logistics integration, highlight role infrastructural factors and the actor's role in the port logistics chain

    For technology to improve productivity, efficiency, and safety in healthcare setting, an essential prerequisite is utilization by its users. Existing theories about technology acceptance mostly deal with voluntary systems, but many systems used in healthcare settings are mandatory systems, so other outcomes rather than the usage or use itself need to be considered in applying existing models to mandatory health information systems. Thus, the focus is moving on user satisfaction. Also, there is a need to see if the technology acceptance leads to the organisational benefits because investments on the technology should show a return as other investments normally do. This research assumes that major constructs of UTAUT (Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology) increase user satisfaction and organisational benefits, and aims to integrate existing theoretical frameworks to explain user’s evaluation of mandatory information systems and its impacts in healthcare setting

    Copper Ferrite Superparamagnetic Nanoparticle-Catalyzed Cross-coupling Reaction to Form Diindolylmethane (DIM): Effect of Experimental Parameters

    Superparamagnetic copper ferrite (CuFe2O4) nanoparticles were utilized as a heterogenous catalyst for the cross-coupling reaction of indole to form 3,3’-diindolylmethane (DIM) as the desirable product. High reaction yield, at around 82%, was achieved under optimal conditions. The CuFe2O4 material could be easily separated from the reaction mixture by an external magnetic field and could be reutilized several times without a significant decrease in catalytic activity. We also showed that no sites of catalyst material leached into reaction solution was detected. To our best knowledge, the above cross-coupling reaction was not previously conducted under catalysis of superparamagnetic nanoparticles. Copyright © 2021 by Authors, Published by BCREC Group.     EFFECT OF SPENT MUSHROOM SUBSTRATE ON THE GROWTH AND YIELD OF THREE CULTIVARS OF MUSKMELONS (Cucumis melo)

    Muskmelons are currently grown in several areas of Vietnam for domestic and international consumer markets. The fruit grows well in greenhouses in soil or soilless substrate such as coconut peat. Researchers in Vietnam are investigating the growth of muskmelons in a range of organic by-products. In this study, spent mushroom substrate was recycled for use as an organic substrate and to evaluate the growth, quality, and yield of three muskmelon varieties including RZ F1, PN 128, and TL3 in greenhouses over three months. The substrate was incubated for one month before use and contained 45% spent mushroom substrate, 30% manure, 7.7% rice husks, 1.5% phosphorus, 0.2% commercial Trichoderma (Tribac), 0.1% rice bran, 15% sand, and 0.5% micronutrients and water. Following incubation, the substrate had optimal pH for the growth of muskmelon and the concentration of nutrients and beneficial microorganisms had increased significantly. The growth of RZ F1 and TL3 cultivars was significantly better than PN 128 in terms of growth, fruit quality, and yield. Specifically, RZ F1 and TL3 species took 78 days and 75 days to complete their life cycle produced 1.76 kg and 1.62 kg of fruit, had a pericarp thickness of 4.0 cm, and possessed 14.20o Brix and 14.88o Brix of soluble solid content, respectively. These findings suggest that agricultural by-products, such as spent mushroom substrate, could be a valuable resource for the culture of muskmelons in Vietnam

Since its development by Tinbergen (1962), the gravity model of international trade has widely been applied to analyse the effect of various factors on trade relationships between countries. Past studies on trade gravity vary not only in the mix of model variables but also in how they have come into the analysis. This study reviews existing literature on bilateral trade with an aim to identify influential predictors such as changes of trade policy and national development strategy and highlight important yet understudied factors such as transport and logistics infrastructure, and sustainable development. To demonstrate the needs to examine these critical factors across industry sectors, the study presents the case of textiles and clothing (T&C) production and trade between China and its trading partners as an illustration. Through the literature review, it shows how the gravity model can be applied to address current issues in international trade arena such as the potential trade war between the US and China, China\u27s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and other important factors shaping global T&C trade. This study offers future research directions for analysis of global trade in the T&C industry and contributes to the wider literature of international business and trade

    Critical factors in organisational effectiveness: The case of Saudi Arabian seaports

    Seaport management environment has continually changed over the last few decades due to increasing external pressure for seaports to be more competitive, active, dynamic and growing sustainably. These changes have created the need to manage organisational effectiveness in order to monitor port performance and achieve organisational objectives. While organisational effectiveness has been well known in organisational management and important in port management, its application to the seaport sector is limited. This paper presents exploratory research into critical factors of Saudi Arabian seaports’ organisational effectiveness. A Delphi method was applied. Data were collected from a two-round survey of the Saudi Arabian seaports, and interviews of 43 senior staff from Saudi Arabian seaports. A mixed method combining quantitative and qualitative analysis was conducted. A total of thirty-one (31) factors from six different dimensions, namely human resource management, customer service, finance, operation, marketing, research & development, were identified to be influential to OE. The gathered data are no doubt important to seaports because only limited research has been conducted on the application of the organisational effectiveness concept to the seaport sector. Findings of this research regarding selecting and evaluating the most influential factors of OE are relevant to decision makers in managing seaport organisations

    Determinants of Port Infrastructure Pricing

    AbstractDespite many theories on port pricing have been discussed in literature, empirical research on this topic remains very limited. This paper seeks to empirically analyse port infrastructure charges using the simultaneous equation regression method and data of 159 seaports. The analysis result indicates that seaport infrastructure pricing is primarily cost-based but other factors are also relevant. These include demand, the governance model, legal structure and geographical region. Given the exploratory nature of its research, the paper also discusses the limitations and implications for port authorities, policy makers and future research
