    Nearly isotropic upper critical fields in a SrFe1.85_{1.85}Co0.15_{0.15}As2_{2} single crystal

    We study temperature dependent upper critical field Hc2H_{\rm c2} of a SrFe1.85_{1.85}Co0.15_{0.15}As2_{2} single crystal (\textit{Tc_c}=20.2 K) along \textit{ab}-plane and \textit{c}-axis through resistivity measurements up to 50 T. For the both crystalline directions, Hc2H_{\rm c2} becomes nearly isotropic at zero temperature limit, reaching āˆ¼\sim 48 T. The temperature dependence of the Hc2H_{\rm c2} curves is explained by interplay between orbital and Pauli limiting behaviors combined with the two band effects.Comment: Proceedings of M2S-IX, Tokyo 200

    Heterogeneous amplification of ERBB2 in primary lesions is responsible for the discordant ERBB2 status of primary and metastatic lesions in gastric carcinoma

    Aims: To determine the extent of HER2 homogeneity/heterogeneity in primary versus metastatic gastric carcinoma ( GC). Materials and results: The human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 ( HER2) status in primary and metastatic lesions was evaluated by immunohistochemistry ( IHC) and fluorescence in-situ hybridization ( FISH). Four separate cohorts consisting of primary GC alone or primary GC paired with metastatic lesions were examined. In the FISH analysis of 325 primary GCs, eight cases ( 2.5%) showed amplification with a heterogeneous pattern, whereas 27 cases ( 8.3%) showed amplification with a homogeneous pattern, and in this cohort the discordant: concordant FISH ratio based on examination of three different areas in each primary lesion was 0.30: 1. FISH testing using 250 paired primary and metastatic lesions revealed seven cases (2.8%) with discordant amplification. In metastatic disease positive conversion occurred in six cases (2.4%), whereas negative conversion happened in one case (0.4%). The discordant: concordant ratio of primary versus secondary lesions was 0.23: 1. When the seven discordant cases were re-evaluated using whole sections of primary GCs, six showed a heterogeneous pattern of amplification. Conclusions: These findings suggest that the discordant HER2 amplification observed in metastatic lesions is explained substantially by heterogeneity within primary tumours

    Study on Practical Measures for the Development of Korean Track and Field

    PURPOSE In this study, in-depth interviews were conducted with track-and-field athletes and leaders who participated in the Tokyo Olympics. The study aimed to present practical measures for the development of Korean track and field, which people at the forefront of Korean track and field thought. METHODS In-depth interviews were conducted using semi-structured questions for a total of five track-and-field national athletes and four track and field coaches. RESULTS A total of 39 subcategories and 104 concepts were derived with regard to four research questions: the process up to the Tokyo Olympics, the actual condition of Korean track and field, a comparison with track-and-field power nation, and practical measures for becoming track-and-field power nation. CONCLUSIONS Practical measures are needed to improve and develop the competitiveness of Korean track and field, which is expected to improve its competitiveness and help develop Korean track and field in the future

    Flavonol glycosides from the aerial parts of Aceriphyllum rossii and their antioxidant activities

    The methanol extract obtained from the aerial parts ofAceriphyllum rossii (Saxifragaceae) was fractionated into ethyl acetate (EtOAc),n-BuOH and H2O layers through solvent fractionation. Repeated silica gel column chromatography of EtOAc andn-BuOH layers afforded six flavonol glycosides. They were identified as kaempferol 3-O-Ī²-D-glucopyranoside (astragalin,1), quercetin 3-O-Ī²-D-glucopyranoside (isoquercitrin,2), kaempferol 3-O-Ī±-L-rhamnopyranosyl (1ā†’6)-Ī²-D-glucopyranoside (3), quercetin 3-O-Ī±-L-rhamnopyranosyl (1ā†’6)-Ī²-D-glucopyrano-side (rutin,4), kaempferol 3-O-[Ī±-L-rhamnopyranosyl (1ā†’4)-Ī±-L-rhamnopyranosyl (1ā†’6)-Ī²-D-glucopyranoside] (5) and quercetin 3-O-[Ī±-L-rhamnopyranosyl (1ā†’4)-Ī±-L-rhamnopyranosyl (1ā†’6)-Ī²-D-glucopyranoside] (6) on the basis of several spectral data. The antioxidant activity of the six compounds was investigated using two free radicals such as the ABTS free radical and superoxide anion radical. Compound1 exhibited the highest antioxidant activity in the ABTS2,2-azinobis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) radical scavenging method. 100 mg/L of compound1 was equivalent to 72.1Ā±1.4 mg/L of vitamin C, and those of compounds3 and5 were equivalent to 62.7Ā±0.5 mg/L and 54.3Ā±1.3 mg/L of vitamin C, respectively. And in the superoxide anion radical scavenging method, compound5 exhibited the highest activity with an IC50 value of 17.6 Ā± 0.3 Ī¼M.     Genetic evaluation of domestic walnut cultivars trading on Korean tree markets using microsatellite markers

    Walnut (Juglans regia L.) is regarded as a healthy food because of its high nutritional composition and various health benefits. Although several walnut cultivars are being actively traded for domestic plantation or ornament in Korea, no particular effort has been made to evaluate genetic quality management of walnut cultivars in domestic tree markets. In this study, as an effort to evaluate the status of walnut seedling trade, we collected walnut seedlings of diverse cultivars from domestic tree markets and several locations in Korea and performed genotype analysis for the collections using microsatellite markers (76 individuals belonging to eight domestic cultivars). We used 12 markers that were previously reported to be informative and polymorphic in walnuts. The number of alleles that was detected from the collections using these markers ranged from 6 to 16, with heterozygosity values ranging from 0.03 to 0.75. Dendrogram revealed that the domestic walnut cultivars trading on tree markets could be genotypically distinguished from various foreign cultivars.     Hybrid Approach for the Treatment of Thoracic Aortic Arch Aneurysm in a Patient With Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease and Retrosternal Adhesion

    A 73-year-old woman with a history of chronic hypertension and severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, presented to a district general hospital with thoracic pain in a profound state of shock. She was diagnosed with cardiac tamponade, severe mitral regurgitation, and Stanford type A (Debakey type I) intramural hematoma. Her ascending aorta was of a significant size and therefore emergent repair was done to replace the ascending aorta and mitral valve. After 6 months, an increased aneurysmal size of 6.0 cm was observed in a follow up contrast-enhanced computed tomography angiography. The patient was successfully treated by a staged hybrid procedure involving initial supra-aortic reconstruction
