    Get PDF
This synthesis will review the benefits of Sport Education on secondary physical education. More specifically, the literature review will review benefits in the topics of enjoyment, activity time and participation, skill increase, content knowledge and motivation. The literature review uses peer-reviewed and scholarly articles in order to examine the benefits in these areas. The literature review points to benefits in all these areas of physical education for secondary students and also provides results to be considered by current and future teachers. Results show that Sport Education can be especially beneficial for low-skilled and amotivated students. Sport Education can increase enjoyment, activity time and participation, skills, content knowledge and motivation. Sport Education provides teachers with a different way of delivering content to students which has the potential to benefit students in multiple areas of learning

The adventure of knowledge of Alejandro Losada

Indexación: Web of Science; Scielo.

From "cultural metaphors" to "discursive metonymy" in Latin American criticism. Around the counterpoint between "hybridity" by Nestor Garcia Canclini and "migrant subject" by Antonio Cornejo Polar

Indexación: Web of Science; Scopus; Scielo.

    NARRATIVE TRANSCULTURATION: MODERNIZING PROGRAMMATIC UTOPIA

This article builds the historic crossing of the narrative transculturation concept proposed by Angel Rama. The analysis is based, methodologically, in the examination of the discrepancy that occurs between the theoretical proposition and its reception. Throughout the analysis also reflections emerged around narrative trans-culturation contrast to other cultural metaphors contemporary to the formulation of the uruguayan literary critic, such as Calibán (Fernández Retamar), Malandraje (Candido), Fuera de lugar (Schwarz), Nacionalismo diferencial (De Campos), Filtragem (Bosi) y Literaturas heterogéneas (Cornejo Polar).http://ref.scielo.org/jt4g4

    Get PDF
This paper analyzes Salomon Maimon’s commentary on Kant’s attempt to link sensibility and understanding. In the Critique of Pure Reason, Kant marks out two faculties of knowledge, which must be united in order to make objective knowledge possible. Maimon doubts that the connection is feasible. After discussing Kant’s starting point, the paper analyzes Maimon’s arguments, laying out the systematic difficulties which would affect the intent of Kantian unification

Using microworlds for policymaking in the context of resilient farming systems

    Get PDF
Resilience management of farming systems requires building an understanding of the underlying drivers of the adaptive capacity of the system. In this paper, we use the concept of resilience as a framework to understand how bovine livestock farming systems may adjust to challenging environmental, social, and political conditions. Using an interactive simulation model (microworld), we explored potential developments for livestock farmers in Bourbonnais, France, to the effect of simultaneous changes in the socioeconomic landscape and unpredictable weather conditions resulting from climate change. The results offer insights into the potential trade-offs between systems scale and long-term sustainability by suggesting that sacrificing socioeconomic performance in the short and medium term may increase long-term sustainability and resilience.publishedVersio

Security Assessment of Select Computer Systems under Distributed Denial of Service Attacks Performed by Botnets

With the passage of time Internet connectivity has been found on more electronic devices than in previous decades. This continuous development may be perceived as a double-edged sword. While the world becomes more Internet-connected and quality of life increases, the lack of proper security protocols in some of these electronic devices permits illegitimate parties to take control of them for their own malicious purposes. This thesis studies the impact of compromised Internet-connected devices on commonly used server operating systems: Microsoft’s Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter, Windows Server 2016 Datacenter, and Apple’s macOS 10.13.6 High Sierra deployed on Apple’s Mac Pro Server (Mac Pro Mid2010). Their performance under prevalent Distributed Denial of Service Attacks will be evaluated at equal attack traffic loads while utilizing three networks of simulated botnets. While the server was under attack connection rate, network traffic, processor utilization, processor temperature, and memory utilization were evaluated for computer systems under consideration
