Foreign trade traps in the european periphery: Spain, 1870-1913

In this article we research into the difficulties that foreign trade imposed on Spanish process of integration into the international economy in the years prior to the First World War. We start out by examining some features of the foreign trade structure of the country. By means of an econometric analysis of import and export series, it is possible to observe the presence of a trend towards trade deficit, which was in force when Spain grew at a rate similar to that of its trading partners. We also check that, in the absence of these compensatory mechanisms, adjustment in foreign payments could be reached by means of protective measures and the exchange rate.balance-of-payments constraints, foreign trade

Drone trajectory prediction toolset

Nowadays, microprocessor and microcontroller technology is evolving very quickly, and this means that drones can have more features at a competitive cost. This has caused drone operations to evolve from purely military purposes to cargo transportation and delivery tasks. As a consequence, the demand for drone permits has been increased exponentially over the last decade and this sudden growth can cause problems in very low-level air traffic management. There are models that explain the behaviour of a drone whose computational cost is very high due to the large number of degrees of freedom that are taken into account. The objective of this project is to design and develop a tool capable of accurately estimate and predict the trajectory of a drone. This study is done from a macroscopic point of view in which factors such as the aerodynamics of the vehicle or its shape are not considered. The first part of the thesis consists of making an exhaustive analysis of the behaviour of the drone in all flight stages of a trajectory. Throughout the development of the thesis, some flight plans have been designed in order for the drone to fly them and thus obtain the telemetry it generates. The last part of the project consists of extracting a mathematical model from the data analysed that is capable of estimating and predicting the performance of a drone given a defined trajectory. The tool has been developed for a specific model of drone but, can be extrapolated to any other. By doing that, it allows this tool to have applications both in air traffic management, at drone air level, and to continuously monitor the performance of a fleet of drones.Objectius de Desenvolupament Sostenible::9 - Indústria, Innovació i Infraestructur

Estilos de enseñanza en el área de Educación física en la Escuela rural

La Educación Física es una materia muy compleja a pesar de lo fácil que a menudo, la gente pueda ver desde fuera, por eso es muy importante nuestra labor como docentes, trabajar cada día para conseguir lograr los objetivos marcados y ayudar al alumnado en el camino hacia una mejor integración en el área así como desarrollar las competencias de todos en el transcurso del ciclo. Con la temática del trabajo he querido recopilar toda la máxima información lo más útil posible para la mejora del área de Educación Física en los centros rurales, pero también es válida para los centros urbanos, puesto que los estilos de enseñanza serán los mismos con variaciones dependiendo de las necesidades y características que existan. La escuela rural tiene una forma de trabajo muy distinta a lo que desde las grandes urbes estamos acostumbrados a ver o experimentar en las escuelas convencionales. Ha sido una gran oportunidad para muchos investigadores de intentar estudiar las características existentes en este tipo de centros así como el desarrollo de las clases. La etapa de la Educación Primaria es muy importante en el desarrollo de las personas, así los maestros, tenemos la gran responsabilidad de lograr elegir la forma correcta en cada instante en el aula de llevar a cabo las mejores opciones para el alumnado, teniendo en cuenta las características que lo rodean.Grado en Educación Primari

De exilios y emociones

The purpose of this article is to test the potential of the methods and concepts of the history of emotions for a renewed and deeper studying of the exile. Focused on the cases of Américo Castro, Pedro Salinas and Fernando de los Rios, the article explores through their correspondence, the emotional mapping that they followed during their exile process. In the exiles, it is warned from the start suffering and emotional stress which led them to quickly locate their spaces for rest and shelter. Once they realized they were going to live as exiles, they built emotional communities in which they deployed, vented their emotions, but also placed their lives, their common experiences and expectations. The family, the professional circle and the references from both colleagues who remained in Spain and from many others (Spanish or not) who shared exile, are easily detected as constructed emotional communities. The exilic process was plenty of ups and downs and emotions, and to live and not just survive, the exiles were forced to design their own emotional reconstruction, their new lifes, not forgetting the old ones, but also filled with content and relief.El propósito de este artículo es probar las posibilidades que los métodos y los conceptos de la historia de las emociones plantean para un estudio renovado y profundo del exilio. Atendiendo a los ejemplos que ofrecen Américo Castro, Pedro Salinas y Fernando de los Ríos, se realiza un seguimiento, a través de sus epistolarios, de la cartografía emocional que los tres siguieron durante su proceso exílico. En los exiliados se advierte desde el comienzo sufrimiento y esfuerzo emocional, lo que les llevó enseguida a localizar sus espacios para el descanso y el refugio. Una vez que tomaron conciencia de que iban a vivir como exiliados, tocaba detectar y construir las comunidades emocionales con las que entablarían contacto para desplegar y desahogar sus emociones, pero también ubicar sus vidas, sus experiencias comunes y sus expectativas. La familia, el círculo profesional y el contacto y las referencias tanto de los colegas que se habían quedado en España como de otros tantos (españoles o no) que compartían exilo, se detectan con facilidad como esas comunidades emocionales construidas. Dilatado el proceso exílico ya plagado de vaivenes y emociones encontradas, y para vivir y no sólo sobrevivir, era obligado diseñar la propia reconstrucción emocional, una vida nueva, que no olvidaba la antigua, pero que se llenaba también de contenido y alivio

La restricción exterior al crecimiento económico español (1870-1913)

Editada en la Fundación Empresa PúblicaEn este artículo se realiza una estimación de las funciones de largo plazo del comercio exterior español en los años que van de 1870 a 1913. De entre los resultados obtenidos se destaca que la mayor elasticidad renta de la demanda de importaciones frente a la de exportaciones es un indicador de que, en ausencia de otros mecanismos compensatorios, la economía española se enfrentaba a estrangulamientos en sus pagos exteriores siempre que creciera a un ritmo comparable al de sus socios comerciales. Esta restricción, asociada al grado de desarrollo de la economía española, suponía una presión constante sobre la cotización de la peseta. La contrastación de esta situación permite aportar nuevos elementos a los debates actuales sobre la política económica de la época: los asociados a la incorporación de España al patrón oro y a la polémica sobre el proteccionismo.In this paper we estimate long-term functions of Spanish foreign trade from 1870 to 1913. We find the income elasticity of the Spanish import demand to be higher than the income elasticity of the export demand. This implies that, in the absence of compensation mechanisms, the Spanish economy was condemned to balance-of-payments constraints when its growth was similar to its trade partners'. These constraints implied a constant pressure over the peseta's exchange rate. These findings allow us to contribute to some present debates about Spanish economic policy of that period, particularly those dealing with the adoption of the gold standard and foreign trade liberation.Publicad
