Study of the strong Σb→Λb π\Sigma_b\to \Lambda_b\, \pi and Σb∗→Λb π\Sigma_b^{*}\to \Lambda_b\, \pi in a non-relativistic quark model

We present results for the strong widths corresponding to the $\Sigma_b\to \Lambda_b\, \pi$ and $\Sigma_b^{*}\to \Lambda_b\, \pi$ decays. We apply our model in Ref. Phys. Rev. D 72, 094022 (2005) where we previously studied the corresponding transitions in the charmed sector. Our non-relativistic constituent quark model uses wave functions that take advantage of the constraints imposed by heavy quark symmetry. The role of hyperfine mixing in b→cb\to c semileptonic decays of doubly-heavy baryons

We analyze the effects of hyperfine mixing in $b \to c$ semileptonic decays of doubly heavy baryons. We qualitatively confirm the results by W. Roberts and M. Pervin in Int. J. Mod. Phys. A, 2009, {\bf 24}: 2401-2413, finding that mixing has a great impact on those transitions. However, predictions without mixing differ by a factor of 2 and this discrepancy translates to the mixed case where large differences in decay widths are observed between the two calculations.Comment: 3 latex pages. Coherent pion production off nuclei at T2K and MiniBooNE energies revisited

As a result of a new improved fit to old bubble chamber data of the dominant axial C_5^A nucleon-to-Delta form factor, and due to the relevance of this form factor for neutrino induced coherent pion production, we re-evaluate our model predictions in Phys. Rev. D79, 013002 (2009) for different observables of the latter reaction. Central values for the total cross sections increase by 20% to 30%, while differential cross sections do not change their shape appreciably. Furthermore, we also compute the uncertainties on total, differential and flux averaged cross sections induced by the errors in the determination of C_5^A. Our new results turn out to be compatible within about 1 sigma with the former ones. Finally, we stress the existing tension between the recent experimental determination of the sigma(CC coh \pi^+)/sigma(NC coh \pi^0) ratio by the SciBooNE Collaboration and the theoretical predictions.Comment: 6 latex pages, 1 table, 2 figures. Hyperfine mixing in b→cb\to c semileptonic decay of doubly heavy baryons

We qualitatively corroborate the results of W. Roberts and M. Pervin in Int. J. Mod. Phys. A 24, 2401 (2009) according to which hyperfine mixing greatly affects the decay widths of $b\to c$ semileptonic decays involving doubly heavy $bc$ baryons. However, our predictions for the decay widths of the unmixed states differ from those reported in the work of Roberts and Pervin by a factor of 2, and this discrepancy translates to the mixed case. We further show that the predictions of heavy quark spin symmetry, might be used in the future to experimentally extract information on the admixtures in the actual physical $bc$ baryons, in a model independent manner.Comment: 7 Latex pages, 4 Table

Las alumnas en el Conservatorio de Madrid en el siglo XIX : estereotipos y realidades

Esta comunicación presenta parte de los resultados de la tesis doctoral de la autora, en proceso de redacción, cuyo objetivo es analizar el papel de las mujeres en el Conservatorio de Madrid: alumnas, profesoras e influencia de la formación allí impartida en el desarrollo de una carrera profesional, tema hasta ahora prácticamente ignorado. En el presente texto tratamos de desbrozar algunos de los estereotipos que se han transmitido a lo largo de los años sobre las discípulas de este centro. La imagen más frecuente es la de unas muchachas ociosas, sin demasiado interés por recibir una formación musical seria sino tan sólo un cierto barniz cultural y un premio para lucirse en sociedad. También se presenta al Conservatorio como un centro escasamente preocupado por los estudios de las jóvenes en él matriculadas y su futuro. A través del análisis de los documentos del Conservatorio y de la prensa del momento mostramos cuál era la percepción en la época, la realidad del centro y la veracidad o exageración de estos estereotipos

La sostenibilidad en el desarrollo de la vivienda informal. Análisis a partir del estudio del hábitat del barrio Puerta al Llano

Los habitantes de la vivienda informal conforman su hábitat a partir de la autogestión y la auto producción constructiva dentro de un entorno físico determinado, inscrito en un medio ambiental. Los moradores establecen relaciones directas de accesibilidad y sostenibilidad al implantarse en un lugar y en diferentes etapas de consolidación hacen posible una permanencia y un crecimiento del barrio y de las viviendas. El objetivo general de este trabajo es establecer la relación entre lo sostenible de la vivienda informal y el contexto de no sostenibilidad en el que ella se desarrolla, a partir de señalar lo primero desde la construcción y lo segundo desde la implantación. Se toma como referente teórico para desarrollar este enunciado, un estudio de caso realizado durante los años 2003 y 2004 en el barrio Puerta al Llano localizado al sur occidente de Bogotá y que se encuentra en proceso de consolidación

RESUMEN: Este artículo aborda los tópicos de la cubanidad y la muerte en el poema "La isla en peso" del escritor cubano Virgilio Piñera. Es un ejercicio de lectura que focaliza adrede aspectos temáticos, si bien no excluye acercamientos a los planos formales o compositivos. La estrategia piñeriana enmarca o devela el punto de vista del sujeto lírico, respondiendo a una tensión entre el yo y lo otro que no halla nunca soluciones definitorias, y que constituye el mecanismo discursivo central de lo que aquí llamaremos ‘retorica del silencio’, opuesta y complementaria de otra, la ‘retórica del énfasis’. ABSTRACT: This article deals with the themes of Cuban identity and death in the poem “La isla en peso” by the Cuban writer Virgilio Piñera. It is a reading which deliberately focuses on thematic aspects, though it doesn't exclude approaches to the formal or compositional levels. Piñera's strategy frames or reveals the lyric subject's point of view, responding to a tension between the “self” and the “other” which never finds definitive resolution and represents the central discursive mechanism of what we will call here the 'rhetoric of silence', contrary and complementary to the other, the 'rhetoric of emphasis'
