This thesis explores Kaiarataki (placement coordinators) and Kaiako (social work educators) experiences and views about the construction of student supervision for tauira (students) at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa (TWOA). This research focused on the programme, Te Tohu Paetahi ngā Poutoko Whakarara Oranga, the Bachelor of Social Work (Biculturalism in Practice). The supervision of students during Te Mahi Whakatau (Practice Based Learning) is the focus of this thesis. Te Mahi Whakatau (PBL) is the practice/practicum component of the student’s degree and is a central part of their learning. The goal of this thesis is to investigate the construction of placement at TWOA and strengthen the mauri ora or the wellbeing of the programme, TWOA, tauira and staff which will contribute positively to social work and its stakeholders. A Kaupapa Māori approach and my own Mātauranga ā Whānau formed the methodology. Hui was used to gather data in line with the methodology and three key themes were identified from the findings: The insufficient preparation of tauira, biculturalism – perpetuating the status quo, and relationships. The insufficient preparation of students for placement is highlighted in the findings and literature review for this thesis and this shows that there is a cycle of unpreparedness that affects the student supervisory context, from the teaching and assessment of supervision, to the supervisors and the field educators. The findings highlight the need to strengthen the teaching at TWOA in terms of student supervision, who delivers that teaching and when and what will be delivered. The incorporation of bicultural supervision for tauira whilst on Te Mahi Whakatau (PBL) needs further developing also through the incorporation of training, support, curriculum and policy development. Further research recommendations include the need to investigate relationships between the kaiarataki and other stakeholders of Te Mahi Whakatau (PBL) and how takepū (applied principles) is experienced in relationships within Te Mahi Whakatau (PBL)

LATAR BELAKANG KETERTARIKAN TOKOH WATASHI TERHADAP KEHIDUPAN TOKOH ROKUZOO DALAM CERPEN HARU NO TORI PENDEKATAN STRUKTURALISME GREIMAS [春の鳥]という短編にいる「六蔵」の生活に興味がある「私」の理由の背景

ABSTRAKSI LATAR BELAKANG KETERTARIKAN TOKOH WATASHITERHADAP KEHIDUPAN TOKOH ROKUZOO DALAM CERPEN HARU NO TORI Berlinda Hera Eka Putri Studi ini meneliti cerpen Haru no Tori karya Kunikida Doppo yang diterbitkan pada tahun 1904. Haru no Tori memiliki arti burung musim semi. To honour the life and memory of the late Te Arikinui Te Atairangikaahu, and the elevation of her son King Tuheitia, a group of women from Tainui iwi under took the process of taking moko kauae - of colouring their chins with traditional patterns. The adornment process took place at Turangawaewae marae with family, friends, elders, and grandchildren. In this presentation we will talk about the journey of these women to prepare themselves for their transformations, the process they went through, and their lives since. We will also consider how their decision also meant exposure to outside opinion, the associated risks of objectification, “image-snatching”, and cultural and intellectual property issues

Public Private Partnership for Equitable Provision of Quality Health Services

This report presents the findings of an independent Technical Review that focused on the promotion of Public Private Partnership (PPP) for equitable provision of quality health services in Tanzania. The report is meant to contribute to the Annual Joint Health Sector Review 2005. The ToR has been broadly defined, signifying the interest that many stakeholders currently take in PPP. The Review Team (RT), with two international and three national consultants, undertook efforts to consult stakeholders for prioritisation of the issues included in the ToR. The RT had access to a large number of official documents such as laws, by-laws, policy documents, guidelines, etc. and a wide range of studies on PPP set in Tanzania complemented by international literature. The RT undertook efforts to interview relevant persons and committees, associations, organisations, ministries, donors, etc. at the national level as well as in four districts, two rural and two urban. Nevertheless, time constraints did force the RT to limit itself and consequently not all actors that constitute the private health sector could be contacted. It is hoped that the Annual Joint Health Sector Review 2005 will allow a representative participation of all actors in the field of PPP to discuss this review and compensate for any issue or actor that was left out unintended

Biotechnology and Its Role for a Sustainable Agriculture

Developing an efficient sustainable agriculture in the current context of the global major threats (climate change, soil degradation and erosion, water scarcity, biodiversity reducing), coupled with a continual population increasing, represents an imperative for conceiving a strategy that should integrate conventional and biotechnological approaches, aiming to optimize productivity and contribute to food, feed, fiber and fuel security. The successful developing and implementation of this strategy depend largely on establishing regional cooperation and a network that addresses to similar agricultural needs, priorities and practices, science based on regulations that should be able to protect public health and environment and to stimulate economic development, regional and global trade, modern agricultural practices, advanced food and feed production industry. The germs of such a regional cooperation and networking are developed by the Black Sea Biotechnology Association (BSBA), established in June 2004, as a public nonprofit organization that has proved to be a very promising example of cooperative achievements. This example deserves to be followed and extended on a large scale inside all Europe and even outside the continental limits. Very valuable information has been accumulated during fourteen years of genetic modified organisms (GMOs) cultivation (since 1996), continuously spreading in a number of 25 countries on different continents, under the dedicated management of International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-Biotech Application (ISAAA), led by remarkable specialist dr. Clive James. The global impact of GMOs cultivation consists in higher level of productivity and economic benefits, as well as a considerable reduction of pesticide use, a decreasing of CO2 emission and soil, water and biodiversity preservation. The up-to-date evaluation of GMOs cultivation and use has not registered any negative effect on the human and animal health, the biodiversity, the consequences of the gene-flood to the conventional crops, the environmental resources. There are some strong reasons to join our efforts for promoting GMOs adoption in agricultural systems, without any further delay and to improve public perception of biotechnology achievements.genetically modified organisms, potential risks for human and animal health, food security

Mott transition in the asymmetric Hubbard model at half-filling within dynamical mean-field theory

We apply the approximate analytic methods to the investigation of the band structure of the asymmetric Hubbard model where the chemical potentials and electron transfer parameters depend on the electron spin (type of quasiparticles). The Hubbard-I and alloy-analogy approximations are the simplest approximations which are used. Within the alloy-analogy approximation, the energy band of particles does not depend on the transfer parameter of particles of another sort. It means that the gap in the spectrum opens at the critical value UcU_{c} that is the same in two different limiting cases: the Falicov-Kimball model and the standard Hubbard model. The approximate analytic scheme of the dynamical mean-field theory is developed to include into the theory the scattering of particles responsible for the additional mechanism (due to the transfer of particles of another sort) of the band formation. We use the so-called GH3 approach that is a generalization of the Hubbard-III approximation. The approach describes the continuous Mott transition with the UcU_{c} value dependent on a ratio of transfer parameters of different particles.Comment: 10 pages, 10 figure

Green's functions of infinite-U asymmetric Hubbard model: Falicov-Kimball limit

The asymmetric Hubbard model is used in investigating the lattice gas of the moving particles of two types. The model is considered within the dynamical mean-field method. The effective single-site problem is formulated in terms of the auxiliary Fermi-field. To solve the problem an approximate analytical method based on the irreducible Green's function technique is used. This approach is tested on the Falicov-Kimball limit (when the mobility of ions of either type is infinitesimally small) of the infinite-U case of the model considered. The dependence of chemical potentials on concentration is calculated using the one-particle Green's functions, and different approximations are compared with the exact results obtained thermodynamically. The densities of states of localized particles are obtained for different temperatures and particle concentrations. The phase transitions are investigated for the case of the Falicov-Kimball limit in different thermodynamic regimes.Comment: 17 pages, 23 figure
