Enhanced Neuro-Fuzzy Architecture for Electrical Load Forecasting

    Get PDF
Previous researches about electrical load time series data forecasting showed that the result was not satisfying. This paper elaborates the enhanced neuro-fuzzy architecture for the same application. The system uses Gaussian membership function (GMF) for Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy logic system. The training algorithm is Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm to adjust the parameters in order to get better forecasting system than the previous researches. The electrical load was taken from East Java-Bali from September 2005 to August 2007. The architecture uses 4 inputs, 3 outputs with 5 GMFs. The system uses the following parameters: momentum=0.005, gamma=0.0005 and wildness factor=1.001. The MSE for short term forecasting for January to March 2007 is 0.0010, but the long term forecasting for June to August 2007 has MSE 0.0011. Keywords: forecasting, LMA, neuro-fuzz

    The 3-fold K-theoretic DT/PT vertex correspondence holds

We prove the 3-fold DT/PT correspondence for K-theoretic vertices via wall-crossing techniques. We provide two different setups, following Mochizuki and following Joyce; both reduce the problem to q-combinatorial identities on word rearrangements. An important technical step is the construction of symmetric almost-perfect obstruction theories (APOTs) on auxiliary moduli stacks, e.g. master spaces, from the symmetric DT or PT obstruction theory. For this, we introduce symmetrized pullbacks of symmetric obstruction theories along smooth morphisms of Artin stacks.Comment: 85 pages, 1 figure. Comments welcom

Spotting Specific Agricultural Practices Impacting Desertification in Zamfara State, Nigeria

Agricultural practices are among anthropogenic factors impacting the desertification process.  However, it is necessary to determine which of the practices that most affect the process.  Eleven of the nineteen Nigeria’s northern states bear the characteristics of the Sudano-Sahelian region.  One of them (Zamfara State) was randomly selected for the study.  A structured questionnaire was administered on 500 farmers out of which 497 of them responded.  Data extracted were subjected to Pearson’s correlation and stepwise regression analyses. The Pearson’s correlation showed positive association between desertification and slash and burn, (r=0.074; p=0.05) and free-range farming (r = 0.103; p = 0.011 and negative association between desertification and organic manuring (r = -0.100; p = 0.013).  The stepwise regression analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between desertification and free-range farming and organic manuring at p = 0.035 and p = 0.040 respectively. It was therefore concluded that slash and burn as well as free range farming were some of the agricultural practices employed in Zamfara State that most exacerbated desertification process in the region.
