Wyclef: A Rational Reconstruction of Versu Social Engine

    Get PDF
Video games often lack an accurate representation of the person playing the game, causing a disconnect between the player and the character’s story. With Versu, a proprietary social simulation engine, not only did choices become more connected to the player, but the player could choose to take the place of any of the characters present in the story. This allows the player to find themselves in the story, while also giving vast replayability to the game. Wyclef is an open source, rational reconstruction of Versu providing increased authoring speed of stories and availability of the social engine to more people. We found that based on the limited documentation provided, it is still very possible to fully rebuild Versu. Additional work on providing authoring of characters and worlds to be parsed by the engine could further flesh out the capabilities of Wyclef

Sur les signaux électrophysiologiques : réflexion et quelques perspectives ouvertes

    Get PDF

Failure investigation of natural gas pipeline

A study was carried out to investigate the probable cause or events that might have led to the failure of two parallel natural gas pipes, API 5L X42 carbon steel (NPS 8) and the SDR 17, 125 mm medium density polyethylene pipes. These two pipes were laid side by side in the same trench with a water pipe. The investigation was performed by analyzing the existing design and construction data, visual inspection of failed pipes, and pipe material analysis. Investigation from the relevant pipes data suggests that the leaked water pipe was the first to fail. The leaked water pipe created high pressure water jetting that mixed with the back?lling soil to form water–sand–soil slurry with high erosive properties. The impact of this erosive slurry upon the NPS 8 pipe had caused serious losses of pipe coating materials. This phenomenon explains the rapid thinning of the steel pipe body which later led to its failure. Evidence from the metallurgical study using photomicrograph showed that the morphology of the steel material was consistent and did not show any evidence of micro fractures

Examining mobile-IP performance in rapidly mobile environments:The case of a commuter train

Trains travel at speeds ranging from 0 to 80m/s (0 to 288 Km/hr). Providing in-train wireless Internet access to multimedia applications will require the use of a mobile networking protocol, such as Mobile-IP, to achieve uninterrupted connectivity. Although Mobile-lP represents a promising solution, its performance under "extreme" mobility is questionable, We simulated a train scenario and identified the limitations of the current mobile-IP standard in terms of throughput, handoff, and packet loss of a train moving at different velocities. We investigated the performance of UDP- and TCP-sessions, and examined the effect of different base station interleaving distances on throughput and packet loss. The results presented in this paper are part of an investigative research into adaptive mobile networking protocols in rapidly mobile networks

Deficiency of adenosine deaaminaae (ADA): Clinical, biochemical, molecular and treatment aspects [Deficiencia de adenosina desaminasa (ADA): Aspectos clínicos, bioquímicos, moleculares y de tratamiento]

Adenosine Desaminase (ADA) deficiency, is a purine metabolic disorder that cause severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) due to the accumulation of toxic metabolites that primarily affects development, differentiation and function of T and B lymphocytes. In addition, some patients show neurological, renal and liver abnormalities, delayed in development, deafness and seizures. If the immune response is not restored, children with this disorder rarely survive; therefore, ADA deficiency must be suspected when difficulty gaining weight, recurrent infections and skeletal abnormalities are present. The ADA deficiency has clinical and immunological characteristics not seen in other immunodeficiencies, data that helps to guide the diagnosis and therapy. This review summarizes clinical, pathological, molecular and treatment findings described in this disease
