Microwave ISM Emission Observed by WMAP
We investigate the nature of the diffuse Galactic emission in the Wilkinson
Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) temperature anisotropy data. Substantial
dust-correlated emission is observed at all WMAP frequencies, far exceeding the
expected thermal dust emission in the lowest frequency channels (23, 33, 41
GHz). The WMAP team (Bennett et al.) interpret this emission as dust-correlated
synchrotron radiation, attributing the correlation to the natural association
of relativistic electrons produced by SNae with massive star formation in dusty
clouds, and deriving an upper limit of 5% on the contribution of Draine &
Lazarian spinning dust at K-band (23 GHz). We pursue an alternative
interpretation that much, perhaps most, of the dust-correlated emission at
these frequencies is indeed spinning dust, and explore the spectral dependence
on environment by considering a few specific objects as well as the full sky
average. Models similar to Draine & Lazarian spinning dust provide a good fit
to the full-sky data. The full-sky fit also requires a significant component
with free-free spectrum uncorrelated with \Halpha, possibly hot (~million K)

The Temperature of the Cosmic Microwave Background
The FIRAS data are independently recalibrated using the WMAP data to obtain a
CMB temperature of 2.7260 +/- 0.0013. Measurements of the temperature of the
cosmic microwave background are reviewed. The determination from the
measurements from the literature is cosmic microwave background temperature of

A Search for Sub-Millisecond Pulsars
We have conducted a search of 19 southern Galactic globular clusters for
sub-millisecond pulsars at 660 MHz with the Parkes 64-m radio telescope. To
minimize dispersion smearing we used the CPSR baseband recorder, which samples
the 20 MHz observing band at the Nyquist rate. By possessing a complete
description of the signal we could synthesize an optimal filterbank in
software, and in the case of globular clusters of known dispersion measure,
much of the dispersion could be removed using coherent techniques. This allowed
for very high time resolution (25.6 us in most cases), making our searches in
general sensitive to sub-millisecond pulsars with flux densities greater than
about 3 mJy at 50 cm. No new pulsars were discovered, placing important
constraints on the proportion of pulsars with very short spin periods in these

The On The Fly Imaging Technique
The On-The-Fly (OTF) imaging technique enables single-dish radio telescopes
to construct images of small areas of the sky with greater efficiency and
accuracy. This paper describes the practical application of the OTF imaging
technique. By way of example the implementation of the OTF imaging technique at
the NRAO 12 Meter Telescope is described. Specific requirements for data

The SNR G106.3+2.7 and its Pulsar Wind Nebula: relics of triggered star formation in a complex environment
We propose that the pulsar nebula associated with the pulsar J2229+6114 and
the supernova remnant (SNR) G106.3+2.7 are the result of the same supernova
explosion. The whole structure is located at the edge of an HI bubble with
extended regions of molecular gas inside. The radial velocities of both the
atomic hydrogen and the molecular material suggest a distance of 800 pc. At
this distance the SNR is 14 pc long and 6 pc wide. Apparently the bubble was
created by the stellar wind and supernova explosions of a group of stars in its
center which also triggered the formation of the progenitor star of G106.3+2.7.
The progenitor star exploded at or close to the current position of the pulsar,
which is at one end of the SNR rather than at its center. The expanding shock
wave of the supernova explosion created a comet shaped supernova remnant by
running into dense material and then breaking out into the inner part of the HI
bubble. A synchrotron nebula with a shell-like structure (the ``Boomerang'') of
length 0.8 pc was created by the pulsar wind interacting with the dense ambient
medium. The expanding shock wave created an HI shell of mass 0.4 Msun around

Spectral Index of the Diffuse Radio Background Measured From 100 to 200 MHz
The mean absolute brightness temperature of the diffuse radio background was
measured as a function of frequency in a continuous band between 100 and 200
MHz over an effective solid angle of ~pi str at high Galactic latitude. A
spectral brightness temperature index of beta = 2.5 +/- 0.1 (alpha_s = 0.5) was
derived from the observations, where the error limits are 3-sigma and include
estimates of the instrumental systematics. Zenith drift scans with central
declinations of -26.5 degrees and spanning right ascensions 0 to 10 hours
yielded little variation in the mean spectral index. The mean absolute
brightness temperature at 150 MHz was found to reach a minimum of T = 237 +/-
10 K at a right ascension of 2.5 hours. Combining these measurements with those
of Haslam et al. 1982 yields a spectral index of beta = 2.52 +/- 0.04 between

Culture change in a professional sports team: Shaping environmental contexts and regulating power
Although high performing cultures are crucial for the enduring success of professional sport performance teams, theoretical and practical understanding of how they are established and sustained is lacking. To develop knowledge in this area, a case study was undertaken to examine the key mechanisms and processes of a successful culture change programme at English Rugby Union’s Leeds Carnegie. Exploring the change process from a 360 degree perspective, semi-structured interviews were conducted with team management, one specialist coach, six players, and the CEO. Analysed and explained through decentred theory, results revealed that culture change was effectively facilitated by team management: a) subtly and covertly shaping the physical, structural, and psychosocial context in which support staff and players made performance-impacting choices, and b) regulating the ‘to and fro’ of power which characterises professional sport performance teams. Decentred theory is also supported as an effective framework for culture change study
Discovery of 35 New Supernova Remnants in the Inner Galaxy
We report the discovery of up to 35 new supernova remnants (SNRs) from a 42
arcsec resolution 90cm multi-configuration Very Large Array survey of the
Galactic plane covering 4.5 deg< l <22.0 deg and |b| < 1.25 deg. Archival 20cm,
11cm, and 8 micron data have also been used to identify the SNRs and constrain
their properties. The 90cm image is sensitive to SNRs with diameters 2.5 arcmin
to 50 arcmin and down to a surface brightness limit of about 10^{-21} W m^{-2}
Hz^{-1} sr^{-1}. This survey has nearly tripled the number of SNRs known in
this part of the Galaxy, and represents an overall 15% increase in the total
number of Galactic SNRs. These results suggest that further deep low frequency
surveys of the inner Galaxy will solve the discrepancy between the expected
number of Galactic SNRs and the significantly smaller number of currently known
