    Get PDF
Objective To develop an educational mobile application (app) for expectant parents diagnosed with risk factors for premature birth. Methods Parent and medical advisory panels delineated the vision for the app. The app helps prepare for preterm birth. For pilot testing, obstetricians offered the app between 18–22 weeks gestational age to English speaking parents with risk factors for preterm birth. After 4 weeks of use, each participant completed a questionnaire. The software tracked topics accessed and duration of use. Results For pilot testing, 31 participants were recruited and 28 completed the questionnaire. After app utilization, participants reported heightened awareness of preterm birth (93%), more discussion of pregnancy or prematurity issues with partner (86%), increased questions at clinic visits (43%), and increased anxiety (21%). Participants reported receiving more prematurity information from the app than from their healthcare providers. The 15 participants for whom tracking data was available accessed the app for an average of 8 h. Conclusion Parents with increased risk for preterm birth may benefit from this mobile app educational program. Practice implications If the pregnancy results in preterm birth hospitalization, parents would have built a foundation of knowledge to make informed medical care choices

Duel and sweep algorithm for order-preserving pattern matching

Given a text TT and a pattern PP over alphabet Σ\Sigma, the classic exact matching problem searches for all occurrences of pattern PP in text TT. Unlike exact matching problem, order-preserving pattern matching (OPPM) considers the relative order of elements, rather than their real values. In this paper, we propose an efficient algorithm for OPPM problem using the "duel-and-sweep" paradigm. Our algorithm runs in O(n+mlogm)O(n + m\log m) time in general and O(n+m)O(n + m) time under an assumption that the characters in a string can be sorted in linear time with respect to the string size. We also perform experiments and show that our algorithm is faster that KMP-based algorithm. Last, we introduce the two-dimensional order preserved pattern matching and give a duel and sweep algorithm that runs in O(n2)O(n^2) time for duel stage and O(n2m)O(n^2 m) time for sweeping time with O(m3)O(m^3) preprocessing time.Comment: 13 pages, 5 figure

Generating a study at STT Wastukancana Purwakarta is strongly important to get an effective way to study. As the allocation of rooms to the schedule made is still manual, it is possible there are some room service clashes. To solve that problem, a study scheduling using computerization is needed in order to make no clash of room service. The use of genetic algorithm to solve the problem is able to get the optimal solution in generating the schedule with chromosome representative as an integer from each of data primary key, the beginning of population initialization, the selection with rank-selection method, two-points crossover method, and mutation. From the test, the result points out that the optimal schedule with 416 pengampu data is generated when a number of population are 30, a number of generations are 150, the crossover probability value (Pc) is 0.4, and the mutation probability value (Pm) is 0.37

This research study focuses on identifying the behavioral characteristics desired by mature students from their educators/lecturers/tutors in an Independent Higher Education provider within the UK. The study utilises a mixed-method approach, employing a nonexperimental and sequential explanatory design consisting of two phases. The first phase involves a questionnaire survey, while the second phase comprises semi-structured interviews with the students, aiming to gather both detailed and general insights into the students’ perspectives on the expected behavioral characteristics of their educators. The findings of this study reveal both commonalities and differences in the attributes of lecturers as identified in the quantitative and qualitative findings. In both sets of findings, it is evident that students prefer personalised learning experiences, with an emphasis on lecturers recognising their unique strengths, valuing individuality and providing positive feedback. Additionally, the qualitative findings highlight the significance of patience, empathy, and problem-centered teaching as highly valued traits of a lecturer according to the students. This research contributes to the existing body of knowledge by addressing the complexities involved in educating mature students within the UK Higher Education sector. It emphasises the importance for Higher Education practitioners to comprehend the expected behavioral characteristics of these mature students from their educators. The study also highlights the scarcity of research in this area, as existing literature on adult education and andragogy is often generic and independent of specific contexts

A field experiment was conducted to study the effect of stocking density on the growth and production of monosex male tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus L.) conducted in six ponds commencing from 7th July to 4th November, 2012. Feeding frequency were two times in a day. The mean initial weight of fry in all the treatments were 5.7±0.04 g and after completion of the experiment the mean final weight of tilapia was 321.62±1.11 g for T1, 300.12±0.87 g for T2 and 256.25±2.38 g for T3. The mean weight gain of 315.92±1.11, 294.42±0.87  and 250.552.38g and mean percent weight gain of 5542.40, 5165.20 and 4395.61% and mean FCR was 1.41±0.00, 1.46±0.01 and 1.59±0.00and mean SGRof 3.36, 3.30 and 3.17% and the survival rate was 97.67, 94.25 and 93.40% were recorded in T1, T2 and T3, respectively. The highest weight gain, percent weight gain, SGR and survival rate were found in T1 and lowest were found in T3. The production was observed to be 47.12±0.52, 56.57±0.80 and 59.84±1.10 kg/dec/4 months in T1, T2 and T3, respectively. The significant (P?0.01) highest fish production and FCR was obtained 59.84 kg/dec/4 months and 1.59 respectively in T3 under stocking density was 250 fish/decimal and production, FCR was found to be decreased significantly with the decrease in stocking density. The lowest fish production 47.12 kg/dec/4 months were observed in T1. Although higher production was obtained in T3 but individually growth performance of monosex tilapia was higher in T1. Keywords: Monosex tilapia, growth performance, stocking density, tilapia production

Inelastic X-ray scattering in correlated (Mott) insulators

We calculate the inelastic light scattering from X-rays, which allows the photon to transfer both energy and momentum to the strongly correlated charge excitations. We find that the charge transfer peak and the low energy peak both broaden and disperse through the Brillouin zone similar to what is seen in experiments in materials like Ca_2 Cu O_2 Cl_2.Comment: 5 pages Revtex4, 6 figure
