Kajian penghargaan kendiri dan kepuasan hidup pelajar

Kajian ini bertujuan mengkaji hubungan di antara penghargaan kendiri dengan kepuasan hidup dalam kalangan remaja. Kajian ini juga ingin mengenal pasti sama ada dimensi-dimensi penghargaan kendiri iaitu rakan, sekolah dan keluarga adalah peramal utama terhadap kepuasan hidup remaja. Kajian ini melibatkan seramai 316 orang pelajar Tingkatan Dua dari beberapa buah sekolah menengah. Data-data kajian dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan borang soal selidik. Alat ukur yang digunakan di dalam kajian ini ialah Self Esteem Questionnaires (SEQ dan Multidimensional Students’ Life Satisfaction Scale (MSLSS). Data-data yang diperolehi dianalisis dengan menggunakan perisian IBM SPSS Statistics. Dapatan daripada kajian ini menunjukkan bahawa terdapat hubungan positif yang sederhana di antara penghargaan kendiri dan kepuasan hidup dalam kalangan remaja (r = .505). Analisis regresi menunjukkan bahawa faktor penghargaan kendiri iaitu rakan, sekolah dan keluarga adalah peramal yang signifikan kepada kepuasan hidup dalam kalangan remaja. Faktor penghargaan kendiri iaitu rakan dikenal pasti sebagai peramal yang paling kuat (β = .192) berbanding faktor penghargaan kendiri sekolah dan keluarga terhadap kepuasan hidup remaja

EFEKTIVITAS MANAJEMEN DALAM MEWUJUDKAN MUTU LEMBAGA MA’HAD BUKIT SHAFA KECAMATAN PINTU RIME GAYO KABUPATEN BENER MERIAH

ABSTRAK Peningkatan mutu merupakan tugas yang paling utama, dan menjadi prioritas utama bagi setiap lembaga, termasuk Ma'had Bukit Shafa. Standar pendidikan ditentukan oleh kualitas yang dihasilkan oleh fasilitas pendidikan. Hal ini dapat diketahui dengan menghitung jumlah santri yang berprestasi, baik akademik maupun ekstrakurikuler, serta lulusan yang sesuai dengan tujuan lembaga. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1)  Perencanaan efektivitas manajemen dalam mewujudkan mutu lembaga Ma’had Bukit Shafa Kecamatan Pintu Rime Gayo Kabupaten Bener Meriah menggunakan berbagai startegi diantaranya: startegi evaluasi diri, strategi komunikasi, strategi target mutu, dan startegi kerjasama. (2) Pelaksanaan efektivitas  manajemen dalam mewujudkan mutu lembaga Ma’had Bukit Shafa Kecamatan Pintu Rime Gayo Kabupaten Bener Meriah yang terdiri dari beberapa aspek diantaranya:  aspek kurikulum, aspek penerimaan santri,  pola penempatan guru, sarana dan prasarana, dan anggaran (3) Faktor pendukung efektivitas manajemen dalam mewujudkan mutu lembaga Ma’had Bukit Shafa yaitu: kepemimpian yang kuat, ustadz dan ustadzah, kemauan motivasi belajar santri yang kuat, lingkungan, kemandirian, kerjasama/teamwork, kepercayaan masyrakat, bantuan masyarakat dan pemerintah. Faktor penghambat efektivitas manajemen dalam mewujudkan mutu lembaga Ma’had Bukit Shafa yaitu: minimnya tenaga pengajar,  sarana prasarana, kurangnya sumber belajar, kurangnya kedisiplinan, anggaran belum mencukupi. Kata Kunci: Efektivitas Manajemen, Mutu Lembag

Efficacy of simple hand-washing in reduction of microbial hand contamination of Iranian food handlers

Foods are likely to be faecally contaminated during preparation or dissemination by the Iranian Muslim food handler that their religion enjoins the mechanical cleaning of themselves after defecation. The current study was designed to determine the actual rate of hand contamination of Iranian food handlers with pathogenic flora of faeces or nose and to evaluate the efficacy of simple hand-washing instruction in reduction of hand contamination. A before-after study was conducted on 150 randomly selected food handlers in an Iranian city, Shahrekord. At the first stage, the hands of 72.7% of food handlers were found to be contaminated. A comparison of the before-and-after data, revealed a significant decline in hand contamination of the food handler from 72.7% to 32% (P < 0.0001). Our study showed that the poor hygienic practice by the food handler is such a serious problem facing the health sector that it merits a further consideration by Iranian authorities. Gender aspect of triglyceride, HDL, and their ratio in high school teachers in Makassar City, Indonesia

Triglycerides, HDL, and their ratio are associated with metabolic disorders and diseases. Gender is known to have a relationship with these factors, but not consistent. This study wanted to see the relationship between gender and triglyceride levels, HDL levels, and the triglyceride / HDL ratio in secondary school teachers in Makassar City. The study was conducted with a cross-sectional approach in 6 junior high schools and 6 senior high schools with a total population of 200 teachers and involved 122 samples of teachers from secondary schools in Makassar City. Sampling using a stratified random sampling technique. The measurement of triglyceride and HDL levels was carried out by the Prodia laboratory. Data analysis was performed using the chi-square test. The results showed that there was a relationship between gender and triglyceride levels (p = 0.004). However, no relationship was found between HDL levels (p = 0.856) and the triglyceride / HDL ratio (p = 0.959) among secondary school teachers in Makassar City. Interventions to improve triglyceride levels must consider gender aspects primarily by paying more attention to male teachers

Cortisol Level Related Glucose Intolerance in Adult with Obese Central

Obesity is associated with an increased risk of diseases, especially central obesity. Central obesity is a risk factor of glucose intolerance. Glucose intolerance is the beginning of diabetes mellitus. Many factors influence glucose intolerance. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between cortisol levels and some other factors related glucose intolerance. This study was a cross-sectional study from 12 high schools in Makassar.&nbsp; The analysis for this study was performed with 54 teachers. Characteristic samples, anthropometry, fasting blood glucose (FBG), cortisol were measured for all samples. Blood plasma glucose was measured from venous blood samples. Respondents were mostly female (85.2%), married (87%), bachelor’s degree (79,6%) and Buginesse (66.7%). The average age of respondents was 49.37 years. The results showed a significant relationship formula: between high cortisol levels in respondents who experienced glucose intolerance (p=0.043). Stress variables did not show a significant relationship, but the average score was higher in those who experienced glucose intolerance than those who had normal glucose. The frequency of consumption of carbohydrates, fats, proteins, and Body mass index (BMI) did not show a significant relationship with glucose intolerance. Pilot Study of Emotion Recognition through Facial Expression

This paper presents our finding from a pilot study on human reaction through facial expression as well as brainwave changes when being induced by audio-visual stimuli while using the Emotiv Epoc equipment. We hypothesize that Emotiv Epoc capable to detect the emotion of the participants and the graphs would match with facial expression display. In this study, four healthy men were chosen and being induced with eight videos, six videos are predefined whereas the other two videos are personalized. We aim for identifying the optimum set up for the real experiment, to validate the capability of the Emotiv Epoc and to obtain spontaneous facial expression database. Thus, from the pilot study, the principal result shows that emotion is better if being induced by using personalized videos. Not only that, it also shows the brainwave produced by Emotiv Epoc is aligned with the facial expression especially for positive emotion cases. Hence, it is possible to obtain spontaneous database in the present of Emotiv Epoc
