The study aimed to identify the HWP1 gene in non-Candida albicans Candida species and the differential expression of HWP1 following treatment with Piper betle and Brucea javanica aqueous extracts. All candidal suspensions were standardized to 1 x 10(6) cells/mL. The suspension was incubated overnight at 37 degrees C (C. parapsilosis, 35 degrees C). Candidal cells were treated with each respective extract at 1, 3, and 6 mg/mL for 24 h. The total RNA was extracted and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction was carried out with a specific primer of HWP1. HWP1 mRNAs were only detected in C. albicans, C. parapsilosis, and C. tropicalis. Exposing the cells to the aqueous extracts has affected the expression of HWP1 transcripts. C. albicans, C. parapsilosis, and C. tropicalis have demonstrated different intensity of mRNA. Compared to P. betle, B. javanica demonstrated a higher suppression on the transcript levels of HWP1 in all samples. HWP1 was not detected in C. albicans following the treatment of B. javanica at 1 mg/mL. In contrast, C. parapsilosis and C. tropicalis were shown to have HWP1 regulation. However, the expression levels were reduced upon the addition of higher concentration of B. javanica extract. P. betle and B. javanica have potential to be developed as oral health product.Article Link : http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ecam/2013/397268

Talent management is one of the roles in human resources management and there has been a long debate about talent management for years. This study aims to identify the relationship between talent management and teacher leadership development. In addition, the study also analyzes the talent management and teacher leadership levels. The data are analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences Software (SPSS) version 23 and Partial Least Squares Structural (Smart PLS) version 3 are also applied to analyze the data. The survey study involves 473 teachers in Malaysia residential school. The findings reveal that talent management and teacher leadership practices were at high levels. There is a significant positive relationship between talent management and teacher leadership development. The results of the study promote the role of talent management that can lead to positive changes in teacher leadership at schools. It is hoped that through this study various stakeholders such as schools, district education offices and the ministry of education of Malaysia will be able to assist in planning and organizing efforts in order to produce good leaders in future. It is hoped that through this study, various stakeholders such as school, district education offices as well as the Ministry of Education will be able to assist in planning and organizing efforts to address the role of teacher leadership to produce highly talented future leaders at schools

Automated classification of blasts in acute leukemia blood samples using HMLP network

This paper presents a study on classification of blasts in acute leukemia blood samples using artificial neural network. In acute leukemia there are two major forms that are acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) and acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL).Six morphological features have been extracted from acute leukemia blood images and used as neural network inputs for the classification.Hybrid Multilayer Perceptron (HMLP) neural network was used to perform the classification task. The Hybrid Multilayer Perceptron(HMLP) neural network is trained using modified RPE(MRPE) training algorithm for 1474 data samples. The Hybrid Multilayer Perceptron (HMLP) neural network produces 97.04% performance accuracy. The result indicates the promising capabilities and abilities of the Hybrid Multilayer Perceptron (HMLP) neural network using modified RPE (MRPE) training algorithm for classifying and distinguishing the blasts from acute leukemia blood samples

Passively mode-locked laser using an entirely centred erbium-doped fiber

This paper describes the setup and experimental results for an entirely centred erbium-doped fiber laser with passively mode-locked output. The gain medium of the ring laser cavity configuration comprises a 3 m length of two-core optical fiber, wherein an undoped outer core region of 9.38 μm diameter surrounds a 4.00 μm diameter central core region doped with erbium ions at 400 ppm concentration. The generated stable soliton mode-locking output has a central wavelength of 1533 nm and pulses that yield an average output power of 0.33 mW with a pulse energy of 31.8 pJ. The pulse duration is 0.7 ps and the measured output repetition rate of 10.37 MHz corresponds to a 96.4 ns pulse spacing in the pulse train

The purpose of this research to get the best quality of dragon fruit syrup while storage with in the addition of chitosan. The research was conducted by Completely Randomized Design (CRD), that use 5 chitosan addition variable (0%; 0,5%; 1,0%; 1,5%; 2,0%) and than it repeated three times. Parameters measured were pH, fungi growth, sucrose concentration, viscosity and organoleptic were will be measure parameters organoleptik characteristics that consist of color, aroma, flavor, and overall assessment. The observations were analyzed using statistic. If the F calculated is greater or equal to F table will be conducted by 5% Duncan test. The addition of chitosan will decreased pH, sucrose concentration, viscosity and organoleptic. For the growth of the fungi was increased though addition of chitosan that extend the shelf life of dragon fruit syrup. The higher chitosan concentration will deareased level of preference from panelists. The optimum concentration chitosan addition was representative 0,5% chitosan addition

The objective of this research was to find the best concentrate of carrageenan on the chemical characteristics (water, ash, sucrose, and crude fiber content) and the sensory (color, flavor, taste, fineness, plasticity, and hedonic test) of pumpkin sheet jam. The experimental design used in this research was Completely Randomized Design (“CRD”) with four treatments, K1 (the addition of carrageenan 3.5% w/w), K2 (the addition of carrageenan 4.5% w/w), K3 (the addition of carrageenan, 5.5% w/w), and K4 (the addition of carrageenan 6.5% w/w). The result showed that the addition of carrageenan had an effect significant on the water, ash, sucrose, crude fiber content, the organoleptic test of taste, plasticity, and hedonic test. but did not significantly affect the organoleptic parameters of color, aroma, and smoothness. The selected pumpkin sheet jam was K4 which showed the concentrate of water, ash, sucrose, and crude fiber content were 24,25%, 1,13%, 50,60% and 2,08% respectively
