ABSTRACT Steel house by Ir. This Ahmad Djuhara I.A.I, comes with a prominent metal material dominance. In addition to being used in the main structure and the main outer enclosure, all these materials are displayed in a straightforward and naked manner. Making the expression of this building really unusual. Perhaps because of this, as far as is known, since 2002 it has received the most and widest coverage from the media (print, television and online) than any other architect's works. This steel house received an award from the Indonesian Architects Association (IAI Award), such as confirming the existence and presence of this unique steel house. This study aims to examine how the relationship aspects of Form, Function & Material. The method used is qualitative - descriptive. Through the study of the anatomy of the building, then data collection by means of field observations, direct interviews with users. Then, to fulfill its objectivity, interviews were also conducted on 15 residents (chosen randomly) who live around the location (radius not more than 600 m). The results of the study show that the relationship from triangulation aspects of Form, Function and Material does not work as expected, especially regarding materials. This research is expected to be useful for architectural science, practitioners and students. So that in its design, it is necessary to be more careful in determining the dominance of the material.  Key word :   Relation, Form, Function, Material, Building Anatomy and Steel house. &nbsp

State of Charge Estimation of Lead Acid Battery using Neural Network for Advanced Renewable Energy Systems

    Get PDF
The Solar Dryer Dome (SDD), an independent energy system equipped with Artificial Intelligence to support the drying process, has been developed. However, inaccurate state-of-charge (SOC) predictions in each battery cell resulted in the vulnerability of the battery to over-charging and over-discharging, which accelerated the battery performance degradation. This research aims to develop an accurate neural network model for predicting the SOC of battery-cell level. The model aims to maintain the battery cell balance under dynamic load applications. It is accompanied by a developed dashboard to monitor and provide crucial information for early maintenance of the battery in the SDD. The results show that the neural network estimates the SOC with the lowest MAE of 0.175, followed by the Random Forest and support vector machine methods with MAE of 0.223 and 0.259, respectively. A dashboard was developed to help farmers monitor batteries efficiently. This research contributes to battery-cell level SOC prediction and the dashboard for battery status monitoring. Doi: 10.28991/ESJ-2023-07-03-02 Full Text: PD

Extraction of Hydrophobic Analytes from Organic Solution into a Titanate 2D-Nanosheet Host: Electroanalytical Perspectives

    Get PDF
Titanate nanosheets (single layer, typically 200 nm lateral size) deposited from aqueous colloidal solution onto electrode surfaces form lamellar hosts that bind redox active molecular redox probes. Here, hydrophobic redox systems such as anthraquinone, 1-amino-anthraquinone, deca-methylferrocene, 5,10,15,20-tetraphenyl-21H,23H-porphine manganese (III) chloride (TPPMnCl), and α-tocopherol are shown to bind directly from cyclopentanone solution (and from other types of organic solvents) into the titanate nanosheet film. For anthraquinone derivatives, stable voltammetric responses are observed in aqueous media consistent with 2-electron 2-proton reduction, however, independent of the pH of the outside solution phase environments. For decamethylferrocene a gradual decay of the voltammetric response is observed, but for TPPMnCl a more stable voltammetric signal is seen when immersed in chloride containing (NaCl) electrolyte. α-Tocopherol exhibits chemically irreversible oxidation and is detected with 1 mM–20 mM linear range and approximately 10−3 M concentration limit of detection. All redox processes exhibit an increase in current with increasing titanate film thickness and with increasing external electrolyte concentration. This and other observations suggest that important factors are analyte concentration and mobility within the titanate host, as well as ion exchange between titanate nanosheets and the outside electrolyte phase to maintain electroneutrality during voltammetric experiments. The lamellar titanate (with embedded tetrabutyl-ammonium cations) behaves like a hydrophobic host (for hydrophobic redox systems) similar to hydrophobic organic microphase systems. Potential for analytical applications is discussed. Keywords: 2D-nanosheet, Microphase, Hydrophobicity, Electrocatalysis, Sensor, Membran
