Are high school students motivated to attend counseling ?

Counseling is the core of the implementation of guidance and counseling services at the school as a whole. The success of counseling is a guarantee for the success of different types of guidance and counseling services. Unfortunately, not many students who voluntarily went to a counselor for help through the implementation of counseling. This research aims to describe the motivation of students to attend counseling. The research used survey method with 316 students of High School students. The results show that most students have not been motivated to follow counseling. Based on these findings, further research is needed on the factors that influence student motivation, as well as the efforts should be done by counselors and other stakeholders to increase students' motivation to attend counseling

Landasan Filosofis Keterampilan Komunikasi Konseling

Abstract: Counseling is a professional activity involving the relationship between a counselor with an individual or a group of individuals. Like an interpersonal relationship in general, in the process of counseling occurs the process of interaction and communication between individuals with other individuals (counselors-counselee). Mastery of communication skills is a basic prerequisite for counselors to be able to use various counseling skills effectively and efficiently. It should be understood that almost all of the counseling skills involve the counselor’s communication skills. A good understanding of communication skills should be based on an in-depth study and understanding of communication philosophy. Mastery of communication skills will facilitate the counselor in using various counseling skills that have been formulated by experts as assets to provide successful assistance services for the counselee.Abstrak: Konseling merupakan kegiatan profesional yang melibatkan hubungan antara seorang konselor dengan individu atau sekelompok individu. Layaknya suatu hubungan interpersonal, konseling tidak dapat dilepaskan dari berlangsungnya proses interaksi dan komunikasi pada pihak-pihak yang terlibat di dalam proses tersebut. Penguasaan keterampilan komunikasi merupakan prasyarat dasar bagi konselor untuk dapat menggunakan berbagai keterampilan konseling secara efektif dan efisien. Harus dipahami bahwa hampir keseluruhan keterampilan konseling melibatkan keterampilan komunikasi konselor. Pemahaman yang baik terhadap keterampilan komunikasi harus didasari oleh pengkajian dan pemahaman mendalam terhadap filsafat komunikasi. Studi Deskriptif Kebahagiaan pada Mahasiswa Baru

Ideally freshmen can adjust to the academic demands of higher education. In addition, freshmen also need to adjust to life as a student university. The inability to adjust in the early days of being a student university has the potential to cause psychological conditions that are not conducive, so that freshmen tend to be at a low level of happiness. This condition if left unchecked can reduce academic achievement and ineffectiveness in living life. The purpose of this research is to describe the happiness of freshmen. This research involved 314 freshmen of the Faculty of Education, Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) as respondents. The research instrument used is the Happiness Scale. Analysis of the research data used is quantitative descriptive analysis. The results of this study indicate that overall the average value of the happiness level of freshmen is 54.94 with an ideal score of 80. Furthermore, the percentage value of freshmen happiness is 68.67%. This shows that the happiness level of freshmen is in the high category. Furthermore, demographic data on the happiness level of freshmen shows that freshmen of the Guidance and Counseling Study Program are at the highest level of happiness compared to freshmen of other study programs at the Faculty of Education UNP, while the freshmen of the Teacher Education for Early Childhood Education Study Program is at the lowest level of happiness. University counseling centers have an important role in increasing the happiness of freshmen through proper counseling services

Gambaran Permasalahan Pasangan Muda di Kabupaten Kerinci

Young married couples are faced with various problems, as a consequence of not reaching psychological, physical, social, economic and cultural maturity. This study aims to describe the problems experienced married couples at a young age. Research respondents were 46 young married couples in Kerinci. The research data was collected using instruments arranged according to the Guttman scale model. The research findings indicate a problem in each indicator, that is related to the state of self; social relations with the community; economics and finance; work, religion, values and norms; circumstances in the family; and sexual intercourse. Based on the research findings, it is suggested to counselor to do counseling and guidance service to young married couples who will and have been married to prevent and alleviate the problem in an effort to realize happy family

APLIKASI TEORI ANNE ROE’S PERSONALITY DI PANTI ASUHAN ULUL AZMI PADANG TERHADAP PEMILIHAN KARIR (PERSON-ORIENTED, NON-PERSON ORIENTED)

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti dan mengimplementasikan teori Anne Roe’s Personality terhadap anak-anak di panti asuhan Ulul Azmi Padang, yang kurang mendapatkan peran orangtua terhadap perkembangan kepribadian anaknya menyangkut keputusan karir yang akan dipilihnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik dalam pengambilan sampel/informan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Penelitian dilaksanakan di panti asuhan Ulul Azmi Padang, Sumatera Barat. Dalam penelitian ini, yang dijadikan subjek adalah dua anak remaja yang berusia 16-17 tahun, yang memenuhi karakteristik terhadap objek penelitian. Penelitian ini berfokus untuk mencari tahu kebenaran terhadap teori pemilihan karir Roe ini, yang membagi menjadi dua kategori karir yaitu person oriented dan non-person oriented. Dengan meneliti pengaruh hereditas dan pola asuh atau pengalaman masa kecil dari sampel terhadap pemilihan karirnya ke arah kategori karir person oriented dan non-person oriented. Hasilnya, pengaruh hereditas, dan pola asuh dari orang tua/pengasuh mempengaruhi terhadap keputusan karir. Pengaruh hereditas memiliki kontribusi terhadap pemilihan karir seseorang. Lalu, ada pola asuh dari orangtua/pengasuh. Pola asuh yang cenderung menjauhi anak, hal ini juga memengaruhi terhadap keputusan serta minat anak kepada pekerjaan yang berhubungan dengan benda, begitu juga sebaliknya, anak yang mendapatkan kasih sayang dari orang tuanya lebih tertarik dan memilih bidang pekerjaan yang berorientasi sosial

Counselor Readiness and Diagnosis in The Psychhotherapy Counseling Process in Education

Readiness to provide counseling and psychotherapy is indicated by the fulfillment of several requirements. Counseling can only be initiated when people recognize the need for change and are ready to engage in the change process. A psychological diagnosis provides information about the client's current problems or conditions, such as the possible causes of the client's problems, techniques used, and the counselor's predictions about the client's future outcomes or behavior, and also includes the client's strengths. This research method uses a literature review, where a literature review is a written summary of journal articles, documents, and books that explain theories and data that have occurred in the past or are currently developing. The purpose of the results and discussion of this article is to determine the extent of counselor readiness in the diagnostic process in psychotherapeutic counseling

Performance collaboration between counselor and teacher or staff is urgentlyneeded in providing guidance and counseling services for students. This collaboration needs to be supervised, one of them by using multi-cultural focused clinical supervision. This supervisory activity emphasizes the aspect of recognizing the cultural differences that can arise between supervisors and supervisors who can influence the supervision activities. Gifted students tend to have too perfectionistic social skills, want others to be in accordance with the desired logic, comfortable interacting with students with homogeneous characteristics. This tendency can be modified by school counselors through the integration of the values of Saprahan local wisdom into guidance and counseling services. The values contained in Saprahan are used as the formation of students' empathy skills. Thus, gifted students have concern for other colleagues, can interact well with students of various characters, accept the shortcomings of other friends, embrace and help other friends, be polite in communicating, and not demean other friends
