Knowledge is a key parameter for a modern company’s survival. The ability to continuously become better at producing services relies on the organisation’s abilities to develop and utilise the intellectual competences of its employees. Systems and software development organisations are no exception here. In this paper we present the concept of knowledge flow and an accompanying mapping technique to analyze knowledge management related issues as a prerequisite to improving systems development practice. Developed in an action research project, we demonstrate the benefits of the concept and the technique in a concrete case and point to further research and application challenges

Artiklen afdækker Schmitts liv og indflydelse efter naziregimets fald og til hans død i 1985. This research employs a social network analysis (SNA) approach to study the longitudinal changes in co-authorship and affiliations of authors, who published in the Australasian Conference on Information Systems (ACIS) from 2001 to 2011. The research explores the structural patterns of co-authorship at the institution and individual author levels, and found research collaboration tend to occur between authors in the same regions and institutions. Descriptive findings further revealed key authors with rich and diverse co-authorship ties, as well as the tendency of authors to collaborate in silos within institutions. A longitudinal SNA method was performed to statistically deduce the changing patterns of co-authorship and affiliations from a sample of the authors in this 11-year period, which complements the descriptive findings. The discussion of our findings results in recommendations to improve the ACIS community’s productivity and in directions for future studies concerning the applications of SNA in examining research collaboration

Early retirement from the labour market among immigrants and natives: A register-based study of Norway

This study investigates early exit from the labour market among natives and immigrants in Norway, and to what extent this be explained by push, pull, or other factors. To answer these questions, we use high-quality Norwegian register data that contain information on the entire resident population of Norway for the period from 1992 to 2015. We estimate transition rate models in a competitive risk framework. The analyses show that natives have a much higher labour force participation rate than immigrants when they are 50 years old. However, for those in the labour force, the exit rates are higher among Norwegian-born individuals. There are differences concerning which exit routes the groups follow. The analyses indicate that both push and pull mechanisms are active and that institutional and family factors are essential. Early retirement should not be seen as a voluntary choice before the end of working life.publishedVersio
