In this knowledge-based era, the successful of an organization, espescially in academic field, is not completely depending on technical supports and budgets but also the sytematic flow of managing the knowledge and sharing this assets among the staff. As knowledge management includes knowledge distribution and sharing, this study focused on how academic staff in Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) can capture, increase and share their knowledge towards enhancement in teaching and research activities. Based on the mixture of Socialization, Externalization, Combinaton and Internalization (SECI) process, studies from other universities and interviews among FIT lecturers, this study proposed a knowledge sharing framework; Tacit and Explicit Approaches Framework (TEA Framework), to enhance current knowledge sharing activities in this academic environment. It is hoped that this framework will assist in developing an effectiveness knowledge management system (KMS), in future

When Inexpressible Becomes Expressible: The Duality Of Narrative In Graphic Memoirs Of Growing Up And Trauma

    Get PDF
This thesis examines two graphic memoirs: Lynda Barry’s One Hundred Demons (2002), and David Small’s Stitches (2009) to elucidate the connections between the duality of narrative in graphic memoirs and the subject of childhood trauma. I begin by observing how the inexpressible memories of childhood trauma become expressible through the platform of graphic narrative that allows the authors to illustrate rather than verbalize the memories. Following this analysis, I examine the aspects of embodiment and materiality in the two memoirs demonstrating how the form of graphic narrative enables the authors to effectively bring back their memories and become the witnesses of their own traumas. Finally, I explore the conventions of sequential art explaining how the traumatic memories of the past get fragmented and fictionalized and connecting it to the ethics of life narrative

Otherhood: Tracing Childhood in Korean American Literature for Youth

    Get PDF
In this dissertation, I explore the ways in which childhood is represented in three Korean American narratives for youths: An Na’s the Fold, Lyla Lee I’ll Be the One, and Tae Keller’s When You Trap a Tiger to theorize the concept of Otherhood, that is, a childhood in which the experience of being Othered is fundamental to a young person’s evolving identity formation and sense of power. I analyze how one’s identity makes a profound impact on their process of growth while their ontological awareness, sense of community, and heritage contribute to their empowerment as an Other. Following this analysis, I apply my understanding of Otherhood to teaching and examine the ways in which diverse literature for youth has mediated my teaching practices and theorize a pedagogical framework to build a safer and more equitable learning environment where students can learn about social justice issues and work toward creating a change in our culture
