Body Culture within the EU's Competence System

    Get PDF
Proficiency and habits in body culture cannot be disregarded when drawing up integrated cultural competences that meet the challenges of the 21st century. This is all the more true if we aim to define the key competences of the cultural content and proficiency knowledge with regards to the school system. Therefore, it was astonishing to discover that body culture was omitted of the EU's key competence framework. In our study we would like to endeavour to list reasons that support the necessity of key competences reflecting on the values of body culture. We hope that this study will ensure that knowledge relevant to physical and mental health, healthy lifestyle and fitness will appear as an independent section in the EU's key competence framework

Experimental multi-photon-resolving detector using a single avalanche photodiode

    Get PDF
A multichannel detector has been constructed using a single avalanche photodiode and a fiber-loop delay line. Detection probabilities of the channels can be set using a variable-ratio coupler. The performance of the detector is demonstrated on its capability to distinguish multi-photon states (containing two or more photons) from the one-photon state and the vacuum state.Comment: LATEX, 11 pages, 5 PostScript figure

High efficiency gaseous tracking detector for cosmic muon radiography

    Get PDF
A tracking detector system has been constructed with an innovative approach to the classical multi-wire proportional chamber concept, using contemporary technologies. The detectors, covering an area of 0.58 square meters each, are optimized for the application of muon radiography. The main features are high (>99.5%) and uniform detection efficiency, 9 mm FWHM position resolution, filling gas consumption below 2 liters per hour for the non toxic, non flammable argon and carbon dioxide mixture. These parameters, along with the simplicity of the construction and the tolerance for mechanical effects, make the detectors to be a viable option for a large area muography observation system.Comment: 15 pages, 15 figure

Continuous laser hardening with induction pre-heating

A novel way of continuous surface hardening of steel bodies by a laser beam is modeled. This heat treatment is supplemented with pre-heating of the hardened parts by a classic inductor in order to reduce the temperature gradients and subsequent mechanical stresses in the processed material. The mathematical model of the process is solved numerically in 3D and the solution respects all important nonlinearities (a saturation curve of the hardened steel and temperature dependences of its physical properties). The methodology is illustrated with a typical example, whose results are presented and discussed

Nemlineáris teljesítmény-elektronikai átalakítók dinamikus vizsgálata = Dynamic analysis of nonlinear power electronics converters

A kutatás folyamán a kisebb teljesítményű (0-10kW) nemlineáris teljesítmény-elektronikai átalakítókkal kapcsolatban születtek értékes alapkutatási eredmények, amelyek ezen rendszerek tervezésénél, üzemeltetésénél, irányításánál nyújthatnak a továbbiakban nagy előnyöket. A tervekkel összhangban, a konverterekkel kapcsolatos ismereteinket kiterjesztve, olyan egységes vizsgálati módszereket dolgoztunk ki, amelyek a rezonáns dc-dc konverterek egy családjára vonatkozóan a lehetséges üzemi állapotok, dinamika, stabilitás leírására használhatók. Új rezonáns konverter topológiákat is kifejlesztettünk, analitikusan leírva azok működését valamint a bemenetei, kimeneti és kontrol változók közötti kapcsolatokat a konverter családra vonatkozó összefüggések általánosításával. A japán Nihon University-vel való együttműködés keretében 3 fázisú passzív PFC egyenirányítón is végeztünk kutatásokat. A javasolt 12-ütemű egyenirányító nagyon hatékonynak bizonyult és különösen a 3 fázisú vonali áramok torzító hatásának csillapításában jelent komoly előnyt. Szintén eredmények születtek a rendszerek stabilitásához kapcsolódóan, mialatt nemkívánatos homoklinikus bifurkációk megjelenésének feltételeit ill. azok következményeit tártuk fel. A teljesítmény elektronikai átalakítókat konkrét gyakorlati környezetben ill. alkalmazásokban (pl. kombinált napenergia hasznosító berendezés) is vizsgáltuk. | Valuable basic research results were born in relation with the smaller-scale (0-10kW) nonlinear power-electronics converters, that can be effectively used and they provide with great future advantages in the design, operation, and control of these converters. In accordance with the plans, extending our knowledge about these converters, unified investigation methods were elaborated, that can be used for the description of the possible operation states, dynamics, and stability of the resonant dc-dc converter family. New resonant converter topologies were also developed, analytically describing their operation as well as the relations between the input, output and control variables, generalizing the original mathematical equations of the converter family. In the frame of the cooperation with the Japanese Nihon University, researches were carried out relating to the 3 phase passive PFC rectifier. The offered 12-pulse rectifier proved to be very effective, and gave great advantages at improving the performance and particularly at mitigating the distortion of the line-currents. New results were also achieved concerning the stability of such systems, while revealing the conditions of the appearance and the consequences of unwanted homoclinic bifurcations. The power electronics converters were also investigated in real, practical environment/applications (e.g. combined solar energy utilization system)
