We present a method to construct random model power grids that closely match statistical properties of a real power grid. The model grids are more difficult to partition than a real grid.Comment: 9 pages, 5 figure

Cl electrosorption on Ag(100): Lateral interactions and electrosorption valency from comparison of Monte Carlo simulations with chronocoulometry experiments

We present Monte Carlo Simulations using an equilibrium lattice-gas model for the electrosorption of Cl on Ag(100) single-crystal surfaces. Fitting the simulated isotherms to chronocoulometry experiments, we extract parameters such as the electrosorption valency gamma and the next-nearest-neighbor lateral interaction energy phi_nnn. Both coverage-dependent and coverage independent gamma were previously studied assuming a constant phi_nnn [I. Abou Hamad, Th. Wandlowski, G. Brown, P.A. Rikvold, J. Electroanal. Chem. 554-555 (2003) 211]. Here, a self-consistent, entirely electrostatic picture of the lateral interactions with a coverage-dependent phi_nnn is developed, and a relationship between phi_nnn and gamma is investigated for Cl on Ag(100).Comment: Accepted for publication in Electrochimica Acta, 10 pages, 7 figures, 2 tables and an appendi

One of the most natural approaches to the problem of origins of natural languages is the study of hidden intelligent communications emanating from their historical forms Semitic languages history is especially meaningful in this sense One discovers in particular that Biblical Hebrew BH the best preserved fossil of the Semitic protolanguage is primarily a verbal language with an average verse of the Hebrew Bible containing no less than three verbs and with the biggest part of its vocabulary representing morphological derivations from verbal roots almost entirely triliteral the feature BH shares with all Semitic and a few other Afro- Asiatic languages For classical linguists more than hundred years ago it was surprising to discover that verbal system of BH is as we say today optimal from the Information Theory s point of view and that its formal topological morphology is semantically meaningful These and other basic features of BH reflect in our opinion the original design of the Semitic Protolanguage and suggest the indispensabilityof IIH Inspirational Intelligence Hypothesis our main topic for the understanding of origins of natural languages Our project is of vertical nature with respect to the time in difference with the vastly dominating today horizontal linguistic approache

Heat Transfer from a Cylinder in Cross-Flow of Single and Multiphase Flows

In this paper, the average heat transfer characteristics for a cross flow cylinder of 16 mm diameter in a vertical pipe has been studied for single-phase flow (water/oil) and multicomponent (non-boiling) flow (water-air, water-oil, oil-air and water-oil-air). The cylinder is uniformly heated by electrical heater placed at the centre of the element. The results show that the values of average heat transfer coefficients for water are around four times the values for oil flow. Introducing air as a second phase with water has very little effect on heat transfer rate, while the heat transfer increased by 70% in case of oil. For water–oil flow, the heat transfer coefficient values are reflecting the percentage of water up to 50%, but increasing the water more than 50% leads to a sharp increase in the heat transfer coefficients to become close to the values of pure water. The enhancement of heat transfer by mixing two phases may be attributed to the changes in flow structure near to cylinder surface which lead to thinner boundary layer and higher turbulence. For three-phase flow, the heat transfer coefficients for all cases fall within the limit of single-phase flow of water and oil and are very close to pure water values. The net effect of the turbulence augmentation due to the introduction of air and the attenuation due to the introduction of oil leads to a thinner boundary layer of oil over the cylinder surface covered by a mixture of water and air bubbles

    Orofacial Granulomatosis

    Get PDF
Orofacial granulomatosis (OFG) is an uncommon chronic inflammatory disorder of the orofacial region. It is characterized by subepithelial noncaseating granulomas and has a spectrum of possible clinical manifestations ranging from subtle oral mucosal swelling to permanent disfiguring fibrous swelling of the lips and face. Etiopathogenesis is unknown. A range of systemic granulomatous disorders, including Crohn disease and sarcoidosis, may cause orofacial manifestations that cannot be distinguished from those of OFG. Treatment of OFG has proven difficult and unsatisfactory, with no single therapeutic model showing consistent efficacy in reducing orofacial swelling and mucosal inflammation

Atherogenic Index of Plasma in the Three Trimesters of Pregnancy

This study investigates the change that occurs for atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) which is a very good marker for the evaluation of the risk of atherogenicity and cardiometabolic health. This study indicates the logarithm of the triglyceride and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (log [TG/HDL-c]). The parameters of triglycerides (TG) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-c) are estimated and compared with the control cases. The AIP is calculated for each case during pregnancy in first, second, and third trimesters separately and each is compared with control cases. The study population comprised (80) women aged between (20–40) years distributed to (20) healthy non-pregnant women, (20) in the first trimester, (20) in the second trimester, and (20) in the third trimester in Koya health centers. The results of this study showed a significant increase in the TG level in both the second and third trimesters of pregnancy compared to the control cases. Whereas, in the first trimester of pregnancy, it can be assumed that there is a non-significant decrease of TG level rather than control cases. As well as the serum levels of HDL for all three trimesters of pregnancy displayed non-significant changes when compared to non-pregnant cases. These data illustrate that the AIP levels during both the second and third trimesters of pregnancy are significantly higher, as compared to control cases, whereas the AIP levels in the first trimester are non-significantly elevated, as compared with control case

The charged particles’ action of  and fields have three diverse levels of modeling, Starting with the simplest one to the most complicated. In this paper we consider the generalization of Newtonian force law in geometrical term is to describe charged particles’ (plasma) trajectories on electromagnetic fields in the kinetic or microscopic model.
