    APPLICATION OF STORYTELLING TECHNIQUES IN IMPROVING SPEAKING SKILLS IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

    Learning to speak is one of the obstacles experienced by students of class III MIS Darul Ulum Muhammadiyah Bulukumba. These obstacles appear from a lack of vocabulary, fluency, and understanding. Therefore, this study aims to improve students' speaking skills through the application of storytelling techniques. The research conducted is action research which includes the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data collection is done through observation, interviews, and speaking tests, while the data analysis is done descriptively qualitatively and quantitatively. The results of this study indicate that during the application of storytelling techniques there is an increase in speaking skills that appear from the assessment indicators, which include: pressure, grammar, vocabulary, fluency, and understanding. The results of the acquisition in the first cycle of 65.33 and an increase in cycle 2 of 73.78. Increased learning outcomes from cycle 1 to cycle 2 indicate that storytelling can have a positive impact on learning to speak

    THE EFFECT OF LESSON STUDY ON THE FOURTH SEMESTER STUDENTS’ DESCRIPTIVE WRITING SKILL

    The objective of this research was to describe the effect of the process and results of implementation of lesson study in teaching descriptive essay writing at the fourth semester students of Indonesian Language Education and Literary Studies Program. This research was a Descriptive Quantitative that described about the process and result in the learning writing descriptive esay.  Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis techniques. The results showed that it was positively increased. It looks at the focus of students showed a positive attitude in following each learning cycle. In addition, the level of mastery learning achievement showed that the obtained value of 75 to the top 30 students with a percentage of 86%, while those which scored under 75 only 5 students with a percentage of 14%. It was concluded that the lesson study had a positive influence in teaching descriptive essay writing in the fourth semester students of Indonesian Language Education and Literary Studies Program

    FIRST LANGUAGE ACQUISITION OF A THREE YEARS OLD CHILD: AN ANALYSIS OF PHONOLOGICAL COMPONENT (A CASE STUDY)

    The process of language acquisition undergone by each child in the world is more and less similar. This is because language is universal in which it is acquired through all language components namely phonology, semantics, and pragmatics. The component of phonology is more related to human neuro-biology. The process of sound produced is genetic and human biological development is not similar. Hence, the language development of human beings is not exactly the same. This paper explores first language acquisition particularly on the phonological component of a three years old child named Andi. The data is the transcripts of dialog taken from causal chit chats with the participant. A qualitative method is used to analyze the data. The findings reveal that the participant acquired vocal sounds of /a/, /i/, /u/, /o/, /e/ and consonant sounds of /p/, /b/, /m/, /t/ more dominant compared to others. He never produced /k/ consonant, fricative [s] and [j]. However, he produced nasal consonants of [m], [n], and [Éł]. The participant also substituted omitted a few sounds. This might happen because his speech articulation has not developed well yet or genetic factor does not allow him to do so

    This study aimed to know the implementation of Cooperative learning Think Pair Share Strategy and students' response to teaching reading comprehension at SMP Negeri 1 Bandar Baru. This study used survey method with a qualitative approach. A qualitative research sample was not taken at random but instead, have to follow certain criteria. The Implementation of Think Pair Share strategy was in accordance with theory suggested by experts in cooperative learning, namely; 1) phase (Think) that leads students to think; 2) phase (pair) that leads students to work together and interact with each other; and 3) phase (share) Here students gain meaningful learning experience, they are accustomed to speaking in front of people, so the students who previously shy being personally brave and confident. Student response was very positive towards learning, students were active, enjoy and focus on learning. Cooperative learning arranges as an effort to increase student participation, facilitating students with experience, leadership attitudes and make decisions in groups that helpful for the students' lives outside of school

    Collegiality in Improving the Quality of Learning: Case Study of Lecturers and Teacher Partnership Program at Junior High School of Cokroaminoto Palopo

    Through the Lecturer and Teacher Partnership Program, this study attempts to determine the effect of collegiality in raising the standard of instruction at SMP Cokroaminoto Palopo. This descriptive and observation to data. The findings showed that the plan, do, and see phases of lesson study implementation were divided into four cycles. From the stage of creating learning to the level of implementation in the classroom, these three stages are interconnected. The study’s version of collegiality also involves instructors and lecturers planning lessons in accordance with the challenges and educational needs faced by Cokroaminoto Palopo Middle School. Observations’ findings indicate that the learning designs created by lecturers and teachers have a favorable effect on the standard of learning in the classroom

    Penerapan Media Audiovisual dalam Meningkatkan Keterampilan Menyimak Dongeng Siswa Kelas III MIS Darul Ulum Muhammadiyah Bulukumba

    The aims of study was to explain the process and implementation results of audiovisual media in improving fairy tales listening of third grade MIS Darul Ulum Muhammadiyah Bulukumba students. The research was action research for 2 cycles, which included planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The obtained research data were observation, field notes, and tests, while the data were analyzed by qualitative and quantitative method. The results of observations and field notes were analyzed qualitatively, while, the results data of tests of each cycle were analyzed quantitatively. Data wetness test using triangulation. The results of the data analysis revealed that: 1. during the process of implementing audio visual media was increase in listening to fairy tales skills, it was seen in students' ability to identify the contents of the story, such as themes, characterizations, plot, setting, and mandate, and 2. improvement results seen in students learning completeness that in the first cycle the average score was only 61.75, increasing to 76.25. These results concluded that audiovisual media have a positive impact in improving fairy tales listening skill of third grade MIS Darul Ulum Muhammadiyah Bulukumba students.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan proses dan hasil penerapan media audiovisual dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menyimak dongeng siswa kelas III MIS Darul Ulum Muhammadiyah Bulukumba. Penelitian yang dilakukan adalah penelitian tindakan selama 2 siklus, yang meliputi tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Adapun teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi, catatan lapangan, dan tes, sedangkan teknik analisis data dilakukan secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Secara kualitatif, data dianalisis dari hasil observasi dan catatan lapangan, sedangkan secara kuantitatif, data dianalisis dari hasil tes yang dilakukan di setiap akhir siklus. Uji kebasahan data menggunakan triangulasi. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa: 1. selama proses penerapan media audiovisual terjadi peningkatan keterampilan menyimak dongeng yang tampak pada kemampuan siswa mengidentifikasi isi dongeng, seperti tema, penokohan, alur, latar, dan amanat, dan 2. hasil peningkatan terlihat pada ketuntasan belajar siswa yakni pada siklus I perolehan nilai rata-rata hanya 61,75 mengalami peningkatan menjadi 76,25. Hasil tersebut disimpulkan bahwa media audiovisual dapat memberikan dampak positif dalam peningkatan keterampilan menyimak dongeng siswa kelas III MIS Darul Ulum Muhammadiyah Bulukumba

    PENINGKATAN KETERAMPILAN MENDONGENG MELALUI MEDIA BONEKA TANGAN - PENELITIAN TINDAKAN DI MIS DARUL ULUM MUHAMMADIYAH BULUKUMBA SULAWESI SELATAN

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan mendongeng melalui media boneka tangan. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas III MIS Darul Ulum Muhammadiyah Bulukumba dan menggunakan model peneltian tindakan yang dikembangkan oleh Kemmis dan McTaggart yang terdiri atas empat tahapan, yaitu: perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Penerapan media boneka tangan dalam pembelajaran dilakukan dengan tiga tahap, yaitu: persiapan, pelaksanaan (proses latihan), dan evaluasi. Temuan penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa: (1) pembelajaran keterampilan mendongeng dapat dimulai dengan pemahaman isi cerita dan penguasaan media boneka tangan; (2) keterampilan mendongeng dapat dikembangkan melalui kegiatan berlatih suara, ekspresi, dan pengembangan dialog; (3) cerita-cerita lokal dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman siswa tentang isi cerita dan menciptakan pembelajaran yang menyenangkan; dan (4) penerapan media boneka tangan dalam pembelajaran sangat efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan siswa dalam mendongeng. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan kepada guru untuk melakukan pembelajaran mendongeng yang intensif mulai dari tahap persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. This study aims to improve storytelling skills through hand puppet media. The subjects of this study were students of class III MIS Darul Ulum Muhammadiyah Bulukumba and used an action research model developed by Kemmis and McTaggart which consisted of four stages, namely: planning, implementing actions, observing, and reflecting. The application of hand puppet media in learning is carried out in three stages, namely: preparation, implementation (training process), and evaluation. Research findings reveal that: (1) learning storytelling skills can begin with an understanding of story content and mastery of hand puppet media; (2) storytelling skills can be developed through practicing voice, expression, and dialogue development; (3) local stories can be used to increase students' understanding of story content and create fun learning; and (4) the application of hand puppet media in learning is very effective in improving students' skills in storytelling. This study recommends that teachers conduct intensivestorytelling learning starting from the preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages

    PENINGKATAN MENULIS PARAGRAF MELALUI PENERAPAN LESSON STUDY MAHASISWA SEMESTER 1B PROGRAM STUDI PENDIDIKAN BAHASA DAN SASTRA INDONESIA

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses dan hasil penerapan lesson study dalam meningkatkan pembelajaran menulis paragraf Mahasiswa Semester 1B Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas dengan jumlah mahasiswa dalam kegiatan ini berjumlah 37 orang, yang terdiri atas 3 orang laki-laki dan 34 orang perempuan. Adapun langkah-langkah penerapan lesson study ini meliputi beberapa tahapan, yaitu plan (perencanaan), do (tindakan), dan see (refleksi). Berdasarkan hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata perolehan nilai mahasiswa dalam pembelajaran menulis paragraph melalui penerapan lesson study mengalami peningkatan yang signifikan. Hal tersebut tampak pada perolehan nilai setiap siklus mengalami peningkatan. Rata-rata perolehan nilai pada siklus I 67,30, pada siklus II 70,95, siklus III 74, 46, dan pada siklus IV telah mencapai 80,95. Sesuai dengan hasil pelaksanaan diajaukan saran kepada dosen atau guru untuk menjadikan lesson study sebagai salah satu alternatif dalam mengatasi masalah pembelajaran.
