Davenport-Schinzel theory of matrices
AbstractLet C be a configuration of 1's. We define f(n;C) to be the maximal number of 1's in a 0–1 matrix of size n × n not having C as a subconfiguration. We consider the problem of determining the order of f(n;C) for several forbidden C's. Among other results we prove that f(n;1111) = Θ(α(n)n), where α(n) is the inverse of the Ackermann function
Halmazelmélet = Set Theory
Eredményes kutatások történtek a kombinatorikus halmazelmélet körében, elsősorban végtelen halmazrendszerek (3-hipergráfok) kromatikus számával, megszámlálhatónál nagyobb kromatikus rendszerek véges részrendszereivel kapcsolatban. | We concluded sucessful research in combinatorial set theory, especially concerning the chromatic number of infinite set systems (hypergaphs), the finite obligatory subsystems of uncountably chromatic triple systems. We sucessfully solved an old, famous problem: it is consistent that there exist two finite triple systems such that both can be omitted from uncountably chromatic triple systems, but there is no uncountably chromatic triple system that omits both. We published a problem book in set theory
