Objective: To determine the role of CRP, white cell count, and granulocytosis in accurately diagnosing acute appendicitis. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value negative predictive values of these tests was calculated.   Methodology: This cross-sectional study was conducted in the immunology department of the Children’s Hospital and University of Child Health Sciences, Lahore over a period of six months from July 2019 to December 2019. A total of 91 suspected patients with acute appendicitis were included. The blood samples were collected from the patients and immediately sent to the lab for estimating serum CRP, WBC count and Neutrophil Percentage (Nu %). The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and accuracy were calculated for each test, and then the combined sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and accuracy were calculated. Results: The mean values of CRP, WBC, and Nu % were 59.44 mg/L, 15.30 uL, and 76% respectively, among the 71 patients with acute appendicitis. The mean values of CRP, WBC, and Nu % in another group of patients with non-specific abdominal pain were 29.13mg/L, 9.05/uL, and 62.93 percent, respectively.  The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive value, and negative predictive values of these 3 tests 93.87%, 83.63%, 88.5%, 92% and 63.63% respectively. Conclusion: The combination of clinical indications and symptoms, as well as tests of serum CRP, WBC count, and neutrophils percentage, can improve pre-surgical decision-making and rescue children from both negative surgery and appendix complications if left untreated

The purpose of this study was to find out the influence of number fishing games on the ability of the concept of numbers of children aged 5-6 years. This study is a quantitative study with experimental methods and using test performance data collection techniques, the subjects of this study are 22 students. Data analysis consists of two parts, descriptive and quantitative used in comparing the test value of the initial condition (pre-test) and the final condition (post-test). The results showed that: before the use of game media tends to be high who cannot know the concept of numbers, compared to the use of children’s game media can know the concept of numbers

Murva is an important drug in Ayurveda. Wattakaka volubilis is used as one of the botanical sources of Murva. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of the alcohol extract of W. volubilis root in streptoztocin (STZ) induced diabetes and diabetic neuropathy. Diabetes mellitus (DM) was induced by the administration of STZ (45 mg/kg, i.p). DM was induced within 72 h. Diabetic animals were treated with glimepiride (0.5 mg/kg) and ethyl alcohol extract 100 and 200 mg/kg for 21 d. After determining the changes in fasting serum glucose and lipid profile, animals were further treated for a period of 15 d to determine the protective effect of extract against diabetic neuropathy. All the alcohol extract treated animals, showed a significant decrease in serum glucose level (

Death and dying are the bitter truth that is faced by every person inevitably. Paying respect to the decision of a patient in a hospital setting is always a challenging task. In eastern countries, family plays an important role in decision making. But it always overrides the preferences and wishes of the patient and this leads to violation of ethical principles such as autonomy, informed consent and veracity. Looking a situation from different paradigms and deciding the best solution on the ground of ethical principles should be the utmost priority of the healthcare provider

Estimation of Pb from Metal and Electroplating Industrial Waste by Zeolite-3A

The concentration of lead in sediment and liquid waste samples of selected metal electroplating industries was measured by atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The data obtained revealed that lead content in liquid wastes varies in the range of 0.582-14.97 mg L-1 and 1.300- 757.8 mg Kg -1 in sediments. Removal of lead in the sediments and liquid waste was then carried out using zeolite-3A. Result shows the quantitative removal of lead. Factors that effect the lead removal include the adsorbent concentration, pH and temperature. The applicability of Freundlich, Langmuir and Dubinin - Radushkevich equations for the present system has been tested and the values of distribution coefficient were also evaluated. Thermodynamic parameters like \u394G\ub0, \u394H\ub0 and \u394S\ub0 were also calculated. The results of such studies suggested that about (99.9%) removal was obtained by using zeolite-3A. It show that zeolite- 3A could be utilized as a potential decontaminate for the removal of lead from metal electroplating industries waste before discharging into hydrosphere. @JASE
